Slotted in beautifully. Watched him quite a bit at Casey on the box & 3 to 4 games live. Showed signs and also had the occasional class / silk moments in game but didn't stand out (for me) as being THIS capable / ready to go in a four quarter / weekly sense up with the big boys. Goes to show you just don't truly know with some players unless you give them the opportunity. No doubt professional scouts/more learned observers who were watching saw extra aspects that i probably missed during his Casey time and hence the call up/opportunity was given. Still, just feel like i'm watching a 21yo 70 to 80 game player who's been in the system for about 3 years or so. Bowey was a similar story but imv showed a bit more over four quarters and over a slightly longer period (?) at Casey before he got his chance. 19, only 9 games and wringing wet. The upside here is titillating!

Would love to see center clearances for this season when Max is in the middle vs Grundy. Can't be sure but gut feel tells me the chemistry is a fair degree better (along with Max's general tap / ground ball work) when Max is in there. Still not convinced the Grundy option is working for us (at center bounces)

Round 9, 2023 MCG - Demons vs Hawks Rivers slowly emerging as one of the better rebounding defenders in the AFL? Roohey did pretty well i thought given the nonsense week he had to go through. A decent game from May on his 200th. Yet another solid performance from Gus, Tracc, Clarry and Viney. Viney would've rated alot higher bar a team high 8 turnovers. The time out must have done Hibb the world of good with his second best result (statistically) for the year (the best was Rnd 6 vs the Tigers by a smidgen with a 4.050). Judd still doing some lovely work, particularly early in the match for mine. A snapshot of River's output... 20 effectives @ 83%, 1 contested mark, 3 one percenters, 3 rebounds, 3 inside 50s, 5 tackles, 4 score involvements, 9 intercepts, 284 meters gained, 1 Goal and just 2 turnovers. We were mostly smacked up in clearances in the third. Grundy had a 3rd quarter mare imho which handed them the momentum. Eventually stopped the rot but only after Max took over the ruck duties in the middle.

A solid win for May's 200th over the horrible Hawks. Gotta be happy with the result. Looks like BBB in for Petty next week Tracc 50/50 That Sicily.... what a [censored] and i don't mean for the Tracc tackle either. Some of his work off the ball when he feels he's out of the contest is school yard rubbish.

Tracc might be out next week by the looks of that unfortunately
