Genuinely excited for the Richmond game! We would have had them last year if we weren’t playing 1 on the bench and no rucks.

I prefer to play Oliver on Mitchell. That way Oliver can do his best work, and we aren’t wasting a player tagging an untaggable player. It’s very hard to tag an inside mid like Mitchell.

Nobody can ever really understand the mental burden that Jesse was carrying last year. Just waiting for the moment your father passes, then dealing with the reality of it, then getting cancer. Jesus if that doesn’t break you, nothing will. Had he said “forget footy” I would have understood. Hell if he said “I need to go back to Perth” I would not have begrudged him. But credit to his resilience and maturity, that he has come through the worst a human can go through, and is now better for it. I hope we throw a cheeky 5 year deal in front of him, with a nice number of zeros on it, so we can seal the deal. Trac, Oliver, Gawn and Viney are secured, he remains the last piece (and TMac/Omac but I assume that’s a formality).

Provided he is also pressuring the opposition, I think that’s all you can ask from a goal sneak. He is definitely not someone I expect to rack up the touches.

Any small forward who kicks 3 goals in a game has had an excellent outing. Garlett is opportunistic, and without big key talls up forward (Hogan playing half up the ground and no TMac), his crumbing chances are almost zero. He has been in fine form this year and if he kicks 2-3 goals a game he will be AA!

We clean up the clangers and our inefficiency going forward and we will easily play finals. We don’t and it’ll be touch and go.

I’m not one to ever wish injury or take enjoyment in players getting injured, but gees I’m so happy the “big 3” have proven to do nothing but take up a lot of ego at the Cattery. Can’t stand all 3 of those arrogant, money hungry, ducking pricks.

But some things are broken and we need to keep improving. We have good capable players knocking the door down at VFL level. The beauty of actually having some depth is that we can and should tweak with the side as necessary for form and match ups. We need another tall forward. Brisbane are reigning wooden spooners. Yes they have some good players, and yes they took it up to Port yesterday, which says a lot more about Port than Brisbane. We played some woeful footy last week, with some great patches. In isolation, our round 1 loss to Geelong was our best performance so far. The point is, we have a lot of improvement and we need to get a lot better if we want to not only make the 8, but actually have a crack at winning finals. We are lucky that so far most teams are looking just ok, and we are on even wins with all but 1 top 8 side with a good %. We won the games we were expected to win, but the next 3 weeks are going to tell us a lot about where we are. 3 teams expected to make finals, including a huge game against the reigning premiers.

Correct. Just like last week, it was an average win against an average opposition. But mentally I’m impressed that we didn’t [censored] ourselves when 4 goals down midway through the first. It was an important hoodoo to break and a very important win. Previously it’s these easier matches that we drop, so to get the 4 points is so important. We now find ourselves in good company at 2-1.

Brought tears to my eyes to read this. Honestly can’t think of another player in the game right now who deserves a flag more than Jonesy. Just hope this group of players give him what he so richly deserves, after all he has given them!

If Gawn doesn’t get 3 Brownlow votes for this game, the whole thing is rigged. No doubt Brown will get it.

I’m not worried by his poor defensive efforts. Our whole team, except Oscar, has gone backwards this year in defensive efforts. I worry that offensively he has had zero impact. But since the same can be said for Hibbo and Hunt, I’m going to put it down to the change in game plan and utter chaos we’ve seen down back this year. Really need to sort out the defensive structures before we can judge Lever.

Yep. He has lost the little pace he had, and also now his core strength. Constantly falling over. He is only in the side for me because he is Jordan Lewis. I prefer Brayshaw got a game, but I underhand that he brings maturity and calm to the side and he was pretty good yesterday. Certainy on his last leg. Unlike Vince who I think has been wonderful this year.
