I don’t disagree. But no 23 year old footballer gives two [censored] about their premierships in the 90s (when they weren’t even born). Players want two things: money and success. North can offer them money, but so can other clubs who are seen as successful currently or with the potential to be successful in the near future. It’s instant gratification type of deal. North doesn’t entice players on that level. They have no big games, no real home ground and small supporter base. Plus a rapidly aging and uninspiring list. The best thing they can do is bottom out and draft some young stars.

The problem for North is that they’re North. They’re average and they’re irrelevant. Just throwing money at players won’t do a thing for them.

Probably. But to be 2 down on rotation playing away from home is a big ask. Port are shaky. In fact only Richmond and GWS really strike me as threats for the flag. By far the most complete footballer I have seen at Melbourne (was too young to see Flower mind you). He is amazing at every aspect of the game. Literally not one thing I would want to improve in him, except obviously have him get 80 touches a game except like the usual 40.

His manager is probably waiting for him to crack 40 touches so he can raise the price a bit more. Clever by him to wait to be honest. He's increased his contract a lot since the start of the year when he couldn't get a game.

True. Richmond not winning was bad. Sydney winning pushed us down a spot. North winning wouldn’t have changed that.

It’s laughable to suggest that anyone is a better RUCKMAN than Gawn right now. Sure there are more effective talls, there are ruckman who get more touches and kick more goals, but nobody is better at rucking. The stats prove it. He has more hit outs to advantage per game than anyone, and that is after all the primary job of a ruckman.
