The reason is because Tmac has been trash for 3 years and we needed a big mature body to help out Weideman. Make no mistake, the club planned to have Ben Brown and Weideman as our two key position forwards in 2021. Injuries and the unexpected form of Tmac have thrown those plans into disarray.

I only had issues for the Richmond game. My annoyance was paying for awesome seats I’ve picked but not being able to use them and getting allocated all sorts of rubbish I don’t pay for.

I like how the inane ticketek system has been replaced by a short 18 step process to be undertaken 2 days prior to a game while upside wearing green pants between the hours of 2:46 and 3:14pm. Love how the AFL is keeping it simple ?

It’s pretty silly. No attendance at a game played in Sydney would make sense, as there is a risk of someone in the crowd having and spreading Covid (see WA). They can ban anyone who was in NSW from attending as they did with the Geelong v West Coast game a few weeks back, but if there is no community spread in Victoria why would we not be able to attend?

And that is the crux of the issue. It is also why we must play Petty at FB and not McDonald. Because May isn’t a spring chicken either. It’s unfortunate that Weideman is out of contract as it puts us in a tricky position I would keep him ahead of McDonald who I think is having a great season, but who is not the future.

If we finish top 4 and make a prelim we will crack 50,000 next year

If we are smart, we trade McDonald out to clear out some cap space and keep Weideman. But I am not sure that will work out the way we want. Weideman would have lots of currency.

The Oliver signing was significant as well, given we heard he wasn’t a happy camper last year. To lose him would be as damaging to our flag hopes as losing Trac would.

There’s a part of me that fully expects us to miss the 8, have Jackson leave to go home and we get found out for doping... I can’t help it.

I’m a big hater of long term deals. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I just hope we are being cautious with the money so we don’t force ourselves into having to dump players ala Collingwood, or worse not be able to sign some other star players down the track. Our track record with list management recently has been great tho, so I trust us not to stuff this one up. Trac is a star and 7 years is not a big risk. He will still be a good serviceable player at 33.

Our best chance here is to appeal the medium impact, on the basis of the player on the receiving end playing out the game without issues. If that gets downgraded to low, he's off. Intentional/wreckless/accidental is going to be much harder to prove. Or we can just show Dusty and Danger doing the same thing 100 times and not getting suspended and go with the "We are on top of the ladder" defence.
