Brisbane winning last week and finally getting over their elimination final hoodoo helps us. The pressure is all on us tonight. We won't want to go out in straight sets and without Daniher the pressure is even greater on us to win and win well. Hopefully the boys woke up today and realised this is it. Time to pull the finger out because this season is done otherwise, and all the hard work has been for nothing.

I haven't been confident of a win in half a season if I'm being honest. We are not running out games or dominating anywhere near as much as we were last year. Brisbane's poor record at the MCG, in finals and against us is the only thing that makes me feel hopeful.

I can't think of a single one of us who wouldn't be happy with that ending. Death is an inevitable part of life, just like losing is in football. If you have a really successful period in football and it comes to an end, you make peace with it. The Queen's life and death is no different.

I’m not sure why anyone is surprised or angry. Goodwin is a believer in sticking to a system and having a stable team. It worked last year. It probably won’t this year, but on paper this is still a very good team that can do some damage. Unfortunately I think injuries and lack of consistency will be our demise. If we go out in straight sets then this has been an unbelievably poor season considering we were 10-0.

I don't disagree with that assessment, but Smith has played like 3 games for Casey as a forward this year. I doubt he is the answer if we are lacking a second tall. If we desperately want a marking tall target up forward we will risk Tmac or punt on JVR. To me Smith is more of a medium forward, so would be a replacement for Fritta if he doesn't come up *heaven forbid*

Agreed. Watts didn't have what it takes to be a true professional. He had all the talent, but I think his heart was never 100% in it. Not too dissimilar to Hogan. Stretch lasted on our list 2 years longer than he should have because he had all the desire and was a total professional, but he didn't have the talent to make it. Sometimes talent and desire don't meet up and that is ok. Not everyone is Clayton Oliver.

I think the only likely change is Bedford for Spargo, if Spargo doesn't get the all clear. I understand he can play without a voice, but a specialist may deem it too dangerous if he cops another blow to the throat. Could cause serious long term damage to his vocal chords, which is obviously not something they will risk.

So Goodwin has decided that to take the best ruckman in the league away from the ruck and play him in the forward pocket was not a sensational idea? If only he read Demonland. Yep, the time to debut JVR was 6 weeks ago. It's too late now. You cannot bring in a child to play a key role against men who have 200+ games of experience behind them. The best thing about Melksham is that he knows how to drag the interceptor away from the contest. JVR would have no idea how to do that yet, and he isn't proven enough to demand a key defender on him. It is a super duper risky move, that could actually set him back. However, it's balls to walls time and we have everything to lose. So if they do bite the bullet I will support it.

I agree. We waited years not to be rubbish. We missed out last year on watching our team win a flag. Why the feck would you not go this week? The only barrier I can see is money. Tickets are not cheap and maybe people want to save their money for the prelim in case we make it. But otherwise, I cannot see why you would choose to stay home.

A very simple and quick way to end the Zorko debacle is Viney to lay a bone crunching tackle on him at the first bounce, Dees win the clearance, bang goal. That will shut them up REAL quick. I have a lot of time for Fagan. I think he is a really nice man and I think the players love him for good reasons. But their team has become a bunch of faux tough guy fools who call themselves Barometers and sport rats tails like it's 1987. Maybe if more of them concentrated on footy like Lachie Neale, they would actually reach their potential. Their list is stacked with talent, but not with leadership.

I would be shocked if we get more than 60k to this game. Weather looks bad. Brisbane fans won't travel in numbers. Melbourne fans have maybe partially given up. 60k would be a good outcome. We will get 90k if we make the prelim against Geelong.
