Maybe you’re right, but I think they will aim to finish top 2, to get the home ground advantage. So losing this game doesn’t help them at all. They’d hate to finish third or fourth and travel in week one. Especially if they end up against the Pies at the G.

You don’t think Brisbane is worried about their record at the MCG, given you gotta win there to win a flag? edit: I just listened to Fagan talk about this in the post match conference. He seemed to laugh it off but ultimately said he doesn’t know if it’s an issue or not.

Apparently the flu season this year is absolutely brutal. A few people I know had it and said it was worse than Covid, which sounds horrible as I was incredibly sick with Covid (even after 3 shots!). I am shocked if all footballers aren’t getting the flu shot to be honest. Surely it’s mandatory for athletes playing a winter sport in Melbourne.

I reckon the Lions inability to win at the G is the real story. They did beat us there in finals last year tho 😒

I have presented my opinion, it is not an opinion made up in the moment. I have plenty of proof to back up the fact that Pies are in better form than us, have beaten more top 8 sides than us, and have had the wood over us in recent years. If you have a problem with people having an opinion that doesn’t match your own, maybe you should rethink posting here. As I’ve said again and again, nobody is forcing anyone to be here, or read anything written here. Pre, during or post games. I am not the one following your posts around being rude and calling you embarrassing for having an opinion. A very grown up behavior indeed. This is the last response you’ll get from me. They beat West Coast by the exact same margin we did. Despite playing poorly for 3/4 of the match. They lost Sidebottom in the North game which I think threw them a little and they went into self preservation mode. They were never going to lose and they knew it. They have however beaten more top 8 sides than we have, including smashing Port and beating Essendon, two sides we lost to. Over the last 18 months they’ve been the hardest side to beat consistently. Even on bad days, they find ways to win. They have belief and momentum, much like we had in the back end of 2021. They are not as good as we were in 2021, but they certainly have been very impressive this year, especially with the amount of injuries they’ve had. While I agree that we can win, they have a psychological edge on us, the wave of support that will drown out ours, and more than likely a few handy inclusions. Of course if they’ve been under an illness cloud that absolutely evens things out a little. But I don’t want to beat them because they’re unwell. I want to beat them because we outplay them.

How about we all just think what we want to think and you don’t come here and get aggressive or rude towards my opinion, just as I have not done towards yours. I couldn’t give a single [censored] what you think about our odds of winning the game. So why do you care about what I think? I am so over this attitude on Demonland where nobody is allowed to say anything other than “we are a great team and we will win the flag”, without someone having a go at them. Oliver out is a massive loss. He’s twice the player De Goey is. And I am entitled to be disappointed and worried about his absence from this match. I’m sure the club isn’t thrilled that he’s missing either. Edit: let’s also not forget that for the past 6 or so seasons the Pies have lived rent free in our heads. When we were good and they were terrible, they still beat us. They have the wood over us, and psychologically we are coming in on the back foot. To suggest this is not going to be a tough game to win is just wrong.
