Full on Footy with Daniel Hoyne via SEN last night. Very interesting listening as Hoyne looks at some stats from our boys over a 6 week period in 2021, compared to our last 6 weeks in 2023. Yeah old news DB. But im actually starting to think that it's the forwards that are having a major play on this. The footy IQ of our front half is real average... & that's probably being polite. I'm talking footy craft, & as a foward. Movement. As a forward you have to dictate the play. You have to direct the kicker where to go. Doesn't give the kicker many other alternatives but to dump kick it long if our fowards are all running back towards goal saying kick it here. Lloyd, Hawkins, Reiwoldt (Jack)... could go on & on. Start leading to the footy! & just for a moment, imagine this team with the front half of the Daniher era...

How many of our forwards actually know how to play forward? ie forward craft, leading to the ball, double leads etc etc... Amazing how many times our fowards were caught behind their defenders taking marks... but this is a weekly thing, so. Reality is, we're trying to win a flag with one of the worst front 6 in the comp going around.

Time for Max to take this game by the scruff of the kneck! Just been going since he's been back & we really do need him at his best. For me, he's our barometer tonight & If he gets going & starts clunking them around the ground like we know he can, then it'll go along way to setting up this game in our favour. So in other words, you’d like to get in 2x Bontempelli types? hold on Bonts only listed as 192cm & not really considered fast… & plays more inside. How bout someone like Crippa? 195cm… but [censored] he also plays more inside… & kicking skills aren’t the greatest. ughhh . . . Yeah good luck with that, roost👍(respectfully) Elite talent is what we need, regardless of their size. But yes, a key forward would be nice.

Should be game over really. What I will say is this - Christian Petracca is not going hard enough when it’s his turn. It’s constantly being said by Trac how guys like Sparrow & JJ etc do all the hard work which allow guys like himself to thrive elsewhere. Well that’s not always the case Trac - you have to go when it’s your turn to go… some really really poor tackling attempts that QTR. So good to have Steven May back in fine touch, we’d be cooked without him tonight. Once again, getting a hiding out of the middle, in particular centre square bounces. Couldn't have played any worse tbh & only a couple goals down - count your blessings thus far Melbourne.

This game is going to be massive! & it's really got everything - From Neale & all things MND, Grundy v Pies. Every chance of a 1 v 2 & a Dees home game too. Besides 1958, when was the last time we cracked 90k for a H&A game? We'll get passed that this year, surely? 🔴🔵
