  1. Thanks Grint. Nice and civilised in your reply and I was a tad silly so I apologise for offending. Being proud of your family heritage is a wonderful thing. I guess not recognising the family via the body is just like not seeing the need for a family coat of arms.
  2. I'm sorry, Grint, but I'm not sure I understand you. Are you saying you too have your name tattoo-ed on your back and its insulting for people to query why? And getting back to my original question, does it actually say "Jones" and if so, why? While I'm not a fan of tattoos at any time, I'm particularly curious as to why someone might put their own name on their body. I just don't understand why.
  3. Hard to read, but does that tattoo on Jones' back say "Jones"? If so, why? In case he forgets who he is?
  4. We do have a de facto relegation and promotion system. It's administered by Channel 7 and relates to how many games are shown on free-to-air TV.
  5. Obviously not enough real footy news is seeing some posters going a bit stir crazy. Can't we just accept that some posters add value, others don't and most of us fall somewhere in between. Who cares if someone's a bit precious or gets on their high horse. Let's just worry about what's happening on the park, not they way it's being written about here. Personally, if I were a moderator, I'd lock this thread now. Nothing new or of value is being added.
  6. I don't know if there's squabbling at Board level or not. What I do know is that the Board doesn't leak...which is why I don't know if there's any squabbling. Because of that we should probably add Glenn Bartlett and the rest of our Board members to the list of people making this a stronger club, along with Peter Jackson and Paul Roos.
  7. Welcome aboard. We hope you stay a Demon not just for a good time, but for a long time. Just in case you're not familiar with the site, you can place posters who annoy you because of their nastiness or any other reason (such as general inanity) on "Ignore". Just go to the top of the screen and select Manage Preferences (or something like that).
  8. Thank goodness for Burgo. By my reckoning if Saty set out for Maroochydore on his scooter from Gosch's Paddock immediately after training on Friday, he'd be at about Seymour by now. I'm not confident he'll make it in time to be of any value to those of us who enjoy his reports and interaction with the players and footy department staff.
  9. Jealous of the quantity but not the quality.
  10. I'm sorry. That definition fits the Collingwood cheer squad. Doesn't sound at all desirable.
  11. Tread carefully. Asking for the darts atmosphere and plastic chairs may be taken seriously by those at AFL House and we'll end up with more home games at Etihad.
  12. You mean, "Contrariwise, if it was so, it might be; and if it were so, it would be; but as it isn't, it ain't." Now where have I seen that before?
  13. We should stop whinging about the so-called unevenness of the competition and recognise that the problem lies within. Evidence? Port Adelaide. More evidence? North Melbourne. Neither are considered to be in the competition's group of "heavyweight" clubs supposedly benefiting from free agency, undeserved free to air TV exposure, etc yet both were preliminary finalists last year. Neither is a financial powerhouse and Port was just a couple of years ago considered to be a basket case on and off the field.
  14. So you want to give Viagra to those demon mascots who run around the boundary line before the game?
  15. Good work 666. And with the photos, too. Very much appreciated.
  16. If there are no pictures of Saty does that mean that training didn't really happen?
  17. McDonald, Bail and Nicholson seemed to be the dominant runners in previous years, so I'm not surprised to see McDonald and Bail up the front again. But I don't recall McKenzie's name being there previously. Is this level of fitness (or running ability) something new for him or have I just not previously noticed? I appreciate that being a good runner is in itself not enough to be a good footballer. But if you're not blessed with other skills, it's not a bad start.
  18. Tough household, PSD. Hope you're holding up OK.
  19. As long as the players complete their time trial in less time than it takes to read this thread, I'll be happy.
  20. Perhaps he already has...and that's the cause of the problem.
  21. I won't re-post the Newton/Viney photo, but two things stand out. Firstly, all that strength around the thighs and hips should make Viney very difficult to knock over. He appears from the photo to have a very low centre of gravity which helps keep players upright. Of course, it's no good having this advantage if you don't have other necessary traits such as speed, effort, ball-getting and disposing skills. Let's hope that this extra mass doesn't impact negatively on these other matters. Secondly, I am mesmerised by Viney's boots. If not for those vibrant colours they would be almost invisible. It looks like our property steward runs a side-line in Chinese foot binding.
  22. I didn't realise there was good money in under 10s.
  23. Almost gave me a heart attack. Thought I'd missed something and Juice was back on the list. The constant promotion of him (was it Picket Fences doing that?) has made me hyper-sensitive to the name.
  24. Your last sentence needs "...other than Demonland posters."
  25. Agreed. That's BBO's job. Seriously, thanks to all the posters who attend training and give us their news and views.
