THE BOMBERS' SWISS ADVENTURE
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I appreciate the point you've made but I can't help wondering whether FIFA would have been so bold if it had been a major European country rather than a medieval friendless fiefdom. -
Somebody needs to buy John Ralph a dictionary. There's no way we defined "mediocrity". I think the word he was looking for was "appalling".

Reasons why Jack Watts might defer contract talks: (1) waiting for new collective bargaining agreement to be signed; (2) waiting to be offered something by the club; (3) waiting to see whether his NAB challenge form turns into real form thereby making him more valuable. Reasons why Jack Watts might re-sign quickly: (1) get in early before Hogan steals all the cookies from the jar.

THE BOMBERS' SWISS ADVENTURE
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Field day for ASADA here: Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 2 WITCH. Fillet of a fenny snake, In the caldron boil and bake; Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog, Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting, Lizard's leg, and owlet's wing,— For a charm of powerful trouble, Like a hell-broth boil and bubble. ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 3 WITCH. Scale of dragon; tooth of wolf; Witches' mummy; maw and gulf Of the ravin'd salt-sea shark; Root of hemlock digg'd i the dark; Liver of blaspheming Jew; Gall of goat, and slips of yew Sliver'd in the moon's eclipse; Nose of Turk, and Tartar's lips; Finger of birth-strangled babe Ditch-deliver'd by a drab,— Make the gruel thick and slab: Add thereto a tiger's chaudron, For the ingrediants of our caldron. ALL. Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and caldron bubble. 2 WITCH. Cool it with a baboon's blood, Then the charm is firm and good. -
Essendon vs Melbourne MCG Round 2
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Deestar9's topic in Melbourne Demons
If the Essendon FC has officially invited James Hird to attend the match, it's time they invested in a better PR and issues management consultant. There will be a time for a reconciliation but it shouldn't happen until all the legal processes, including the CAS appeal, the Dank actions and the players v club matters are all resolved. -
He can only answer the questions that are put to him.

Fills me with dread. What if we lose?

Jade Rawlings was just on SEN. If I heard him correctly, 23 players will actually play with three others sitting on the bench to come on as substitutes only if we have an injury. If that's right, let's hope those three don't get any game time. He didn't say who those three would be.

That's some autocorrect you've got there. What else can it do? -

If you can make kinetic T-shirts, I'll invest in the business. -
Essendon vs Melbourne MCG Round 2

If they do, it would be a big mistake. Believe it or not, there are a lot of Essendon supporters who believe Hird has badly damaged their club. You wouldn't want to alienate them. It's just too soon. I know there are plenty on here (cue Beelzebub...) who will say he should never return, but I suspect he will one day. But I'd be surprised if it's before all the legal issues have been resolved. So let's say, not before the end of 2017. -
Essendon vs Melbourne MCG Round 2
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Deestar9's topic in Melbourne Demons
My simplistic response is that there won't be any guilty players at this game so you can attend knowing that you'll be supporting clean players. Just trying to help you find a way to get there, ManDee. -

I think suggesting the AFL is somehow trying to pick a fight with ASADA is giving the AFL far too much credit. i think it's much more likely that the wrong advice was given to the Bulldogs through incompetence. -

Young bloke, too. As a Demons fan he may be on this board. If so, I wish you well and hope for a speedy recovery. I'm confident all Demonlanders feel the same way.

Good luck to Steven Febey. But I'm a bit disappointed that while posters support Febey (as they should) through his battles with depression, so many others show no sympathy to other players who have explained they have depression but are disbelieved apparently because they did something that's considered to be either un-Melbourne or unmanly. Obviously Mitch Clark is one, but there have been others, too.

THE BOMBERS' SWISS ADVENTURE
La Dee-vina Comedia replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
So, according to the AFL's own website, it would appear that either its left hand doesn't know what its right hand is doing or the Western Bulldog's misinterpreted what they were told. Which can happen when someone appears to be two-faced. -

So, if we ran a poll on Demonland on whether or not our government is "stupid enough", which way do you think most people on here would vote? -

Wouldn't be too sure about that. There are lots of votes in supporting AFL (and sport in general). I suspect Governments would just find another way to fund things. And I certainly wouldn't be looking at any Government to lead the way on ethics. -

If it is a grey area and there are genuine discussions about what he can and can't do, I don't have a problem with Prismall still working. But, if in the end it is determined he cannot work then his suspension has to start from the day that he stops working, not from the start date for everyone else.
