No one seems to have questioned whether that chip kick went the required 15 metres?
It was deem a mark by the Umpire so whether it travelled 15 metres or less is irrelevant now but I reckon it went between 10 and 15 metres.

Watch the last quarter bursts from the half back line and when he is tackle he handballs to himself and then retrieves the ball to kick down the ground, this is called awareness of your surrounding and being ready for anything on the football field.
You either have got this trait or not, Clayton has this in spades, Sparrow not so much.

Is that 5pm perth time?

In the past players like Jake Bowey were gifted games on potential because they were 1st round draft picks but this year he got his chance late in the season with good form at Casey due to injury to the incumbent and basically made the position his own on form.
I think he will win another Rising Star Award next year if he continues his form from this year and maybe be in the running to be the Rising Star along with Daicos and Horne-Francis

MFC has to improve by younger players going to the next step, players like Bailey Laurie, Fraser Rosman, Oskar Baker, Kade Chandler, Deakyn Smith, Sam Weideman, James Jordan, Toby Bedford along with Jayden Hunt, Luke Dunstan, Jake Melksham, Joel Smith and Adam Tomlinson pushing for selection.
If the bottom 6 players in the team don't improve or lose form they will be replaced by players who perform at Casey.
Players in the team like Michael Hibberd, Tom Sparrow, Tom McDonald, Charlie Spargo, Jake Bowey and Harrison Petty have to perform to keep out others.
The competition for places has never been better is the reason we improved over the season and we need players to improve to maintain the status quo.
I said before the season to win a premiership you need luck with injuries and have most of your best 22 playing most games for the season and finals.
For the season the Demons used 34 players with 10 players (including James Jordan ) playing 25 games, 4 players playing 24 games and 2 players playing 23 games, players like Bowey, Jones, Vandenberg, Chandler, Weideman, Tomlinson, J Smith, M Brown, Jetta and Baker played less than 7 or less games whilst the 8 others played between 12-21 games.
The Bulldogs had a good run but lost Josh Bruce just before the finals.
The Gaints were gutted by injury during the season and Toby Greene self distructed.
The Lions lost 2 tall forwards to injury just before or during the finals.
Port seems to be able to play 1 final ok but always fall in the preliminary final.

He just turned 29 so maybe he is a player Geelong should recruit.
The MFC need player with a good upside and around 22-26 years of age.

His game in the Grand Final was good but I needs to get better in 2022.
He needs a big pre-season training and some good practice games form just to hold his place in the 22 with competition from James Jordan and Luke Dunstan knocking at the door.
If players like Bailey Laurie or Fraser Rosman get a clear run without injury or limited match practice and show massive improvement, he will be under more pressure to hold his place.

Are we sure that is Max's child because it has not got a beard yet?

I like him from the start of his career but never expected he would become a star in the making.
If he can repeat this years effort he will become an AA player.

I think this was his best season of football and after being told to look for a new home at the end of last year.
He was rejected by other clubs returning to the MFC and embraced challange and rose to the occassion saving his best for the Grand Final with his gut running and precision passes.

If Mac Andrew is selected as a high draft pick the expectation on him will be enormous and could have mental repercussions down the track.
I believe for his own good he should be in the 20-40 range were players like Max Gawn were picked and allowed to mature and developed without pressure.
Jackson's are rare and we should enjoy the ride, Luke Jackson is the first true ruckman to win the award and the only player to come close was Adam Goodes.

Maybe the best comparison should be a MFC team of the AFL which was after 1987 the year West Coast and Brisbane were admitted

Gary Hardeman was a great CHB in the era where CHF were only 185-193 but now with CHF being 194-202 his ability to jump would make him very tired in the 2nd half of games.
The fact that players today have only one job makes them fitter and faster than yester year.
I have followed the MFC since 1952 and never saw players like Don Cordner, Ivo Warne-Smith, Jack Mueller, Norm Smith Allan La Fontaine, Percy Beams and Albert Chadwick at all.
Also prior to the 1950's teams played 4 ruckmen one in the FP, BP and 2 Ruckmen until the advent of the Ruck Rover like Ron Barassi, Serge Silvagni and Ted Whitten.
As you can see football has evolved to 2021 where 2 specialist ruckmen have now re appeared but they are now midfielders as well, not lumbering crash and bash players.
Changes in the rules has made the lumbering ruckman obsolete like Terry Gleeson.
The Cordners where 193-194cm tall and would now be cannon fodder as ruckmen to the modern 200-211cm ruckmen.
The MFC team of the century was ok in the 1900's but would struggle against the 2021 professional Demons.
The great MFC teams had great rovers which today don't get a look in, Viney at 178cm is tall verses 170cm rovers of yester year.

I don't love that tape at all. Seems to rush a lot of his disposals and doesn't play with any power, he doesn't use his speed to take on tacklers and doesn't hold the ball to release runners. A couple of good quick handballs but a couple of panicked turnover ones too. More of a Setterfield or Cale Morton type from that viewing. At that size and athleticism there's plenty to work with but there's also a lot of work to do!
I watch the tape and he has no depth in his kicking for his size.

Just ask Richard Barassi how the much pressure is on the person even at junior level.

Denis Cometti who would have said the pass by Harmes was 'centimeter perfect'

Seems the club is proactive in signing its young players to long term contracts like Salem and Petracca.

His upside is huge considering he was playing his 34 game in the GF and his position in the side was never in question thru out the season.
I still think he will become a wingman in the future because he has that attacking flare for such a young man.

Sensational is the only word which describes the play, I have watch football since 1952 and this is truly magnificent.
The faces of the Bulldogs said it all, we are done!

His career has started with a rising star award 2021 and a premiership, his father dreamed of playing in finals and a premiership with the Saints and his son in his first season has reached the holy grail of the AFL/VFL.
I think he also has a chance of moving into the midfield in the long term and getting an other rising star award in 2022.

Perhaps we should go with what has worked best in the past and pick someone called Christian.
Does that mean we use the pick on the Pope but with his age demographics probably wants to go to Geelong anyway?

It seemed that the play was mostly on Brayshaws side of the ground in the 3rd quarter and he really got going in the last quarter helping with the 9 goals kicked to the non scoring end since at 3 quarter time James Brayshaw commented that of the 21 goals 17 were scored at the end the Bulldogs were kicking to so it might be an exciting finish.

2021 Player Reviews: #35 Harrison Petty
in Melbourne Demons
Posted
Well I believe he had a great season considering he played no football last year but he reminds me of Steven Smith and wears his number, yes most of the fringe players will have to maintain the form show this season or get they will loose their place to a player in better form which is why premiers are the hunted now not the hunters.
Carl Lewis once said 'when your number one you have to train like your number two'.
