  1. I'd keep him before I kept Michie. He had an injury interrupted season this year, but I thought he showed enough last year to warrant persevering with. We don't have many goal kicking midfielders, and we've all seen Newton snag a few. Rookie him.
  2. Matthews seems to be able to play hockey.
  3. You could well be correct in that his bad attitude (at least that's what I perceive) is a result of him becoming frustrated with the rabble that is Brisbane. I'm not totally against bringing him in if the club deems it to be for the best, but I would definitely be doing my homework on his character before doing so. We'll soon find out, I suppose.
  4. We can trade our future first rounder as we used the required two within a four year period in selected Weideman and Oliver. I'd rather stay away from Rockliff though. There's no doubt that he's a talented player that would improve our midfield, but he seems to not fit the no [censored] policy. Hang on to the first rounder, use it next year or on someone that would help to maintain the cultural improvement that we've seen develop since Roos took over.
  5. Also note the hashtags that he used on the photo: #deesupayingattention #draftthiskidwhileyoustillcan...nothing about the Dockers.
  6. Let's aim a bit higher and get a Hurley or Prestia...no need to set the Barlow. I'll show myself out.
  7. Well, today was crazy. Subban to Nashville, Weber to Montreal Hall to New Jersey, Larsson to Edmonton Stamkos re-signs in Tampa Bay for 8 years Not too sure what Edmonton were thinking...they got absolutely annihilated in that trade. I know that they were looking for a right-handed shooting defenseman, but surely they could've done much better than Larsson if they were willing to give up Hall. Both Subban and Weber are right-handed shooting defensemen, and I'm sure that Edmonton would be kicking themselves knowing that both of those players were on the market. Larsson is an underperforming first round pick who's never done anything of note in 5 seasons in the NHL, and I think Edmonton have really shot themselves in the foot here. Not too sure about the Nashville-Montreal trade, either. I just don't see how each team benefits from the trade.
  8. Yep. That's the same reason that we've got Franklin, Pendlebury, Judd, Weitering and Prestia
  9. He is, and due to the relatively (knock on wood) small injury list, it would be hard to promote him at present given that Michie has been promoted for King and Wagner was our nominated rookie. White requires another LTI to be promoted.
  10. A round of AFL footy wouldn't be complete without one of the Scott's having a whinge.
  11. Disposals aren't everything. I thought Hunt was very good on the weekend.
  12. It's a tough one to predict. To me, SJ looks stronger overall on paper, but Pittsburgh's star players are better. I'll flip a coin and go with San Jose in 7!
  13. Tyson has played well against Port in the past, IIRC. I believe in his first season with us he earned 6 Brownlow votes against them.
  14. I won't spoil the result in case you were recording it, but it was a great game!
  15. You were right with your prediction of the West, Macca. SJ looked very strong last night to move through to the final. Tonight it's the battle of the regular season backups (Vasilevskiy vs. Murray) as Tampa and Pittsburgh play game 7. You'd have to back Pittsburgh tonight given that they're at home and Tampa is likely going to be missing Stamkos. Still, a strong performance from either goalie could be enough to carry their team through.
  16. It's not an either/or scenario, as there's a separate international rookie list to develop project players that have never played before.
  17. I think Pittsburgh is a pretty safe bet to make the final, and while I agree that San Jose look good, I wouldn't be surprised to see the West go either way. How good has Matt Murray been for Pittsburgh? Pretty amazing to think that he's a rookie when he's playing like he has been.
  18. Is a Demonland romance about to blossom?
  19. From memory Bernie played on Bont in our win against the Doggies last year with a great deal of success, including catching him holding the ball and kicking the sealer in the last. More of that please.
  20. I have to agree with you, however even if he never makes All Australian (he won't), if Pedersen can maintain his form over the course of a few seasons, I will personally regard it as more impressive than Jamar's improvement. I'd pick sustainable strong form over a "one and done" season any day of the week.
  21. From my viewing (all on tv, so I appreciate that I may be very wrong), he seems to prefer to get into a one-on-one contest rather than to lead at the ball carrier. I don't know whether this is a result of the poor delivery to him last season or whether he thinks he's a better chance of marking in a contest rather than getting a nice laces out pass when he leads, but it has choked up our ball movement a bit this season when entering 50 as players often fall into the trap of bombing it long onto his head rather than trying to hit the target properly. It also doesn't help that opposition defences know that he's a good contested mark, so when they see the ball coming in high and deep they double, triple and quadruple team him, making it nearly impossible for him to take a mark. After half time last week we seemed to really open up our forward line and not bomb it long to the top of the square every time we entered our 50, and we reaped the rewards of doing so. I think ultimately it's best to have Hogan playing in his more natural CHF position to prevent these goal square wrestling matches and to force him to lead at the ball carrier.
  22. I feel much more confident about keeping Hogan than I did about Scully/Frawley/Howe. The team is very obviously in a better place than it was when they were all out of contract (which Hogan isn't for another year), the team that is courting him is in the shitter, and HOW GOOD IS MELBOURNE'S COFFEE???
  23. He'll be the icing that their list needs.
  24. He's safe in that he's contracted until the end of next season, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded out
