There was an Emmett Dunne who played for Richmond and Footscray. Its the same person mentioned in the post above yours, I believe.

Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
Good Times Grimes replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
The Pies are going to have enough trouble trying to fit Swan, Thomas and Pendlebury under the cap. They are a 0% chance of getting Scully. -
They are likely just managing his workload since he has had so much trouble with injuries in the past. Same story as Tapscott, Gawn and Gysberts. I wouldn't be too worried.

There's no need to take everything he says with a grain of salt. Trust him, trust Jimmy, and trust Cam Schwab. Enjoy the 2011 season and don't worry about what MIGHT be. He'll be a Demon 2012 and beyond. -
Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week

He stated that money isn't his objective when it comes to footy. He wants to be a one club player and anticipates this will be the case. What more can he say without actually signing a new contract? -

Yep it's on SEN right now. Says he is keen to be a one club player. -

It's people like you that have the goal of making everyone else paranoid that create awkward situations like the one mentioned on Big Footy for Scully. -

Do you honestly feel that Tom doesn't have the right to wait until the end of his current contract to negotiate a new one? The whole point of a contract is that you agree to certain terms for a certain period of time. If you are satisfied with the way things have played out during your contract, the you may choose to negotiate an extension. Otherwise, you can wait until the expiration of the contract to decide whether or not to negotiate a new one. Scully is still a contracted MFC player, and as such we as supporters should be treating him like one. In my opinion, there is little to no substance to the rumours that he has signed with GWS, and as such we should not treat Tom as if he has betrayed us. Stop being so paranoid and look forward to an exciting year for the Demons WITH Scully. -

I completely expected this to happen. It is within Scully's rights to wait until the end of the season to negotiate a new contract. Fans should mind their own business otherwise he may not choose to do his negotiating with the Dees. -
Not sure about Gawn, but Morton should be back in the first couple of weeks of the season. According to his twitter he is aiming for a round 1 return, but it sounds like that it him being optimistic. I'd expect to see him debut in round 2, 3 or 4.

I agree with your points, I just hate to see our players get injured in the preseason. It is probably good for him to play, but with his importance to the team it just worries that he could get injured in a 'meaningless' match. I'm gonna go and take that BEX and have a lie down. Thanks for the tip, C & B.

Also, I am well aware I have MFCSS. If anyone has a cure, please let me know.
-
Knowing Melbourne's history in practice matches, I am expecting at least one major injury in the next two weeks.
-
I really want to see Jurrah rested. An injury to him could cause major issues for our finals hopes.
-
As much as I would love and expect to see finals, the most important thing for MFC at this point is continued improvement. If we don't make the finals solely because of injuries to key players there is no reason he shouldn't be re-signed. If we make the finals he should be re-signed. I know people get annoyed when he says this, but I just want to see us "win more quarters than we lose." If we can't do that, I give him a 1 year extension and if there is no significant improvement in 2012, we should look for our coaching elsewhere. No Malthouse for me though. I can list at least 5 people I would want before him.

I understand your argument, but this is just something that you're not going to be able to persuade me of, and I feel the same is vice versa. For me, Warnock is an important player and will be with the Dees well beyond 2011.

I agree that it's the stars that separate sides, but every player that takes to the field has an important role to fill. I'm well aware that Warnock is no Frawley, but are you saying that it doesn't matter who replaces an injured star player as they will all have the same (ineffective) impact? You can't have someone like Jones (arguably an odd one out in the midfield, but still one of our best 21) go back and play on KPFs. You NEED to have back-ups at EVERY position.
-
Do you not think it is important to have players who can come in when others are injured? I would call these important parts of a team. Regardless of the player, you need to be prepared for injuries. Warnock is an important player for us as he has played at the AFL level before and will be able to step in when key defenders are injured. And you have got to be kidding that depth is not important? I'm not even going to address that.

No official injury report update MFC
Good Times Grimes replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
How long is one usually out with osteitis pubis for? I remember Rivers had it, but I can't recall how long we missed him. -
Agree with all who say that Bate, Martin, and Maric all have to show something this year. I strongly believe, though, that Warnock is an important part of this team. We need someone who is capable of coming in when a player like Frawley or Rivers is injured, and I can't think of many people on our list who would be a more suitable replacement for them than Warnock. His performance in the first few games without Frawley in the side will show his true worth to the Dees.

Scully's management to talk to Melbourne this week
Good Times Grimes replied to SoNotFunny's topic in Melbourne Demons
Also re: Scully: I think he'll stay. If anything, the press-conference on Friday will likely tell us little more than we already know, so everyone should be prepared for that. Why would he come out and say "I am putting off contract negotiations with the MFC until the end of the season but I am 100% going to stay here."? If he commits to re-signing with the Dees at the end of the season, that significantly decreases his bargaining power and he won't be able to receive as much money. He will say that he is committed to Melbourne for 2011 and will negotiate 2012 onwards at the end of the season. End of story.
