Ultimate Footy - Norm Smith League
Mad_Melbourne replied to Old Man Rivers's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's hard with big trades like that and with a veto rule because everyone is always going to look after their own team and think about trying to win the comp, like you were when you took the trade. I know that in my other league with mates, most trades get vetoed within 5 minutes of going through as people don't want others getting something they need, and this often ends out with a few expletives and annoyances but it adds to the fun. Il agree this year has been a big confusion though, no one knew where to stand and the rule changes have both negative and positive effects on this year, I reckon more traded have gone through because of them but it also adds a bit of a risk for people having a punt on next season with the young keepers. And everyone is getting frustrated because it hasn't really been cleared up, but at the same time it is clear enough (that makes no sense, I'm delirious and tired Anyway my point is, stay! It's still fun even if there is confusion and complaining throughout the season, it's surely to be expected with an 18 person league with most being randoms! -

Very excited to receive an absolute belting this week, just hoping I can start to field a halfway decent forward line towards the end of the season so that I can make finals! -

Understandable, so have I, I put hours in trying to sort my draft out and I have used 20/30 signings so I have definitely tried to be competitive, how is bastinac for Palmer unfair? And on whose part? I'm just wondering how you see it -

Nor I you, don't throw a game it's pointless, veto the trade if enough people veto the trade then it will not go through! I agree that dale Thomas is a better player, and if I had the choice of the two I would take Thomas, but Scully is a keeper and it just depends the value that people put on a player they can have next year! The top 8 is hotly contested throwing a game 15-0 could see you fall out, I suggest you try win this week and throw the game next week against me Trades are hard especially due to different peoples opinions on players, and I feel it's been tough to find lost of win win trades and I definitely have thrown out several heavily one sided trades. In regards to ziebell thanks, but no thanks I have something in the works -

I definitely did query the rules early on, I think it has been confusing for everyone this season, but it has added to the fun, and with keepers it offers a different perspective on players and there is different values on different players now, with players being able to be retained, I was just annoyed I couldn't keep my 4 guns and have now got a bit of a trade rush to hunt down some younger players -

I think some people forget that quality of player doesn't mean anything really in this game, sure dale Thomas is a better player and if I was picking a player to play in melbourne I would rather Thomas, but stats wise they are only a few disposals apart and if anything scullys tackles increase his worth! Character accusations should stop, and really we all know Scully is a top keeper player for next year(even if we don't like to admit it, because quality of disposal means nothing in this comp) and it is a pretty fair trade, I think at least -

Your offer was weighted very heavily for one player, yet as I explained although there is some gain for me, it also means I lose out in one area of my field and I am at work and bored so I will private message in more detail than I did in my rejection of the trade why I can't accept -

say there is a player in the league who has no "young keepers", possibly me, does this mean at the end of the season, once the dust has settled and people have grabbed their young keepers from their lists do i get to pick from the leftovers before draft, or does this mean i go into the draft with two extra draft picks to fill me list? im quite intrigued as to how it will work, because i dont know how many others are in the position that i am in, and i think it is quite few -

Footy gods hate me, fielding a makeshift side this week, crameri returns and I then lose Stanley, And Judd, no Franklin, depth won't carry me to wins, il be smashed this week at least, hopefully can just keep a spot in the 8 -

Haha I don't think I'm the favorite, my depth is really being tested crameri, Stanley both out, miller not playing looking for a forward if anyone is keen? -

Got hammered! No crameri, sewell, Franklin being subbed all contributed to my loss! Happy to set my new line up with a stronger midfield! Good work by omr has a very good list -

I was at the game yesterday and he had a massive collision with merrett, and as soon as the trainers got to him they knew he was done for the day, as he was running off right in front of where I was sitting spat up blood, also I think in the Tom McDonald thread they said he had bleeding in the lung. Yeh all my defenders kicked goals this week, and made up for crameri getting injured! Hanley was one I lined up at the start of the season, I tried to see how far he could slip but didn't want to lose him, I don't mind him playing on the forward flank. I'm still missing that decent ruckman but at least I have players to put in the position now. -

Cheers for the match ht, after watching collingwood and freo and noting you had pavlich, wellingham and sidebottom I thought I was in strife! Interesting to see if Tom McDonald is out how long he may be out for? Also Elton was an interesting pick up, I took the punt on campbell last week, never plan on winning hit outs, but I will not say no to it! -

Like I said before, with this keeper league he no longer has any need to play on, he has his 4 players for next season and can now officially shut up shop and not worry about competitiveness, which is annoying! I for one wouldn't mind taking Parker off his hands, for a player who would be ready to play, but obviously it's not worth it as it would provide keeper benefit to another team and no value to him as he already has all his keeper players and is not going to try and contest for finals. -
Tom McDonald has a knack of messing everything up

Just how good will Nic Naitanui become?
Mad_Melbourne replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Definitely debatable, Jobe Watsons best is best in the league and match winning, he can carry a team on his back, having 40 touches, 2 goals, 6 tackles, at his very best, give me that in a final ahead of anything -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Mad_Melbourne replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
If we trade our first pick and first compensation pick for the 17 year olds in gws, then does that mean we get viney with unders at our first non compensation pick which would be 20 odd? -
I like this, I'm pretty sure I mentioned something along the lines of this in the post game thread from a couple weeks ago! He needs to learn to run both ways and put the best option as his first option! I wait for the days where he plays like Jetta from sydney!

Really hating having three weeks of byes, frustrating to say the least! One more week and hopefully my mob comes out refreshed and rejuvenated. Interesting trades undergone, I'm still looking to find a new young keeper, but now people are over valuing these long term keeper options due to the change in rules! -

Well it's not as easy as kicking a point. -

I'm speaking about him throughout his career so far, but he definitely had a blinder today, what I liked most about him was his constant effort for the hard ball! But it's not like he plays to that standard weekly, if he can back it up consistently then he will become the cake mix aswell, but still he is a flash in the pan. No doubt he is going to be a very good player, but I still think on the whole, at the moment, he tends to fade out of games and be ineffective through his disposal. -

Mad_Melbourne replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nic Nat is an athlete rather than footy player, the good stuff he does is really good, and he has a lot of room for improvement, but he often fades out of games, often doesn't really use the ball well, and his disposal doesn't have much influence. What he does do is win hit outs, 26 a game on average, and he does do that one or two flashy things that people talk about! He is an icing on the top player, rather than a cake mix player, a very nice icing to have, but icing none the less -
Oh damn I thought this was going to be a 2001 draft thread, where Dane Swan went at 58 and we had pick 55, aww how our recruiters stuffed it, brad miller at 55 why not swan, oh god life is so bad.
