  2. Had fun reading PRE and Nick's Footy, the pies all reckon we were better playing good footy, and the tiges are sure the're going to lose. Watching the replay in Roma (sadly knowing the result) and I have this to say.

    1. I thought the pies must have played badly, they didn't, they brought pressure, we brought more.

    2. The umping boo boos were fairly even.

    3. Finally saw why they stuck with Frost et al, looks like the coaching staff know something about football.

    4. H had a great game, was in the best.

    5. Harmes is a player, I had no idea, reminds me a little of Whelan (not quite the wrecker yet) or a Peter Walsh.

    6. We are on for more than 10 wins this year.

  3. Matt Jones has owns his spot - that said, who to drop, its difficult, every time we try to have a tall fwd line it always seems to fall over for us, am happy to go with better ball users, than size alone.

  4. I thought they were shot when Libba Jr went down and they didnt miss a stride, I reckon they have some belief that will keep them performing. I like Murphy, but am in shock PF said something agreeable.

  5. Was wondering I I hope not) if the coaching panel has written this game of and is using it to experiment a little? I really think Dunn is key down back - I feel really nervous without him there, more than Tmac, Garland needs a reset button he's becoming a bit too relaxed, like Howe was/is so happy he's in the magoos. the other I need to see is Jetta, very nervous without him playing. BTW Silly me out of loyalty I traded him into my fantasy side and he's an emergency... d'oh

  6. I had mixed thought about tuning in - when I saw the lineup I first thought thats it for me but have since decided to follow and see what happens. (actually Freo Fanatic on you tube is a good poster for OS people like myself) Scott was tolerable but I think he will struggle to keep a lid on it this year if they hit speed bumps, he does wear his heart on his sleeve. Buckley I like, I'm kinda curious about how the magpies go this year, he's been given a blank canvass in so many ways to do as he likes and I'm interested to see if it pays off for him. ( I still hate the magpies, don't get me wrong)

Robbo and Gerard have chemistry that works on air, I don't like him but it doesn't mean they have suddenly become the footy show.

Heppell and Riewoldt, for sure they are flawed, but they might just have a different POV that could be interesting, who knows and at least its not the footy show.

Cam Mooney said we're no longer a basketcase, and people are going to be standing back this year and saying how good is this, they're exciting

    Brad Johnson's a Viney fan.

I actually think we are the hardest team to call in the comp apart from Carlton and Essendon. For so many reasons 8-10 wins are possible (injuries etc) but for so many reasons, if we avoid the Norm Smith curse (Neil Balme would still have nightmares about the injury list he had) I can see as many as 14 wins (This is realist me, fantasy me says 15....). So anyway my point is the pundits all sound like they are hedging their bets, they know we are on the move but need to see change before they back us. They will jump on quickly and say they saw the improvement.

As for Viney, I'm starting to think by the end of his playing days Junior Viney will be the best thing Senior Viney ever did for us, and that is not meant as a slight against Todd.

Took me a while to put my finger on what was different from Sunday evening onwards.

Than I realised - it felt strange to walk away from a game NOT feeling disappointed.

Sometimes I think the forum should be called 'DemonTherapy', we qualify by any objective measure.

  9. I'm with BB, I'm hoping that during the year we demonstrate that we are a desirable place to be. I want the guys that have bought into the team already to be rewarded and not pushed aside or asked to settle for less. This would I think degrade the culture and team being built. We are also going to need plenty of coin to retain the core that has been put together. So if Prestia wants to come, well and good, but no kitchen sink offers.

I do understand that we cannot stand still with list management but I think we are at a different point to where we have been (possibly since the 90's)

It is a different story with Rucks, I want another key tall defender who can back up ruck. I find i'm not as confident anymore in our back six as a unit as I was two years ago. Am happy to shop in this area, or be proved wrong with garland and tmac being consistent  (I love them both but don't know why they are not playing there best footy atm)

  10. I actually struggle to find much useful in Kings comments beyond his description of attack on the ball and the individual attributes of players. Pagans' Paddock was as much as about keeping it simple for the mouth breathers he had on his team. Everything else he has to say smacks of being a windsock. I do think he understands individual players though.

I hate this argument.  I understand the last decade has been tough, but the old 'I've seen it all before' argument doesn't wash with me.  If you take 5 minutes to compare the club to now you'll see there is a huge difference... but some, I guess, are too far gone to realise that.

I am not going to be kind to anyone when we are good again. I further plan to be particularly vicious to any of the patronising ar$3ss I know from Essendon Carlton and Collingwood - Doggies and Saints get a pass.

Are you serious or just taking the pizz?

There was nothing in his highlights reel that screamed "elite skills". That's why I'm asking the track watchers whether they've seen signs of elite talent. Adding muscle doesn't change natural talent. If he's elite like Selwood, Wines and many more, he'd be pushing for selection in round 1, but not necessarily as a primary mid.

The 'elite' part for me, and of course this is based on YouTube, is that Oliver own a 'stopwatch'. He presses it and the world stops and he finds a way to dispose of it effectively. Decision making is brilliant. I back this up with the way his teammates ran on the outside when he's in the contest, they expected him to win and use it to advantage.
