This guy was from the Neeld era. Almost enough said at that point. He had a contract for 2014 and with the way we were bleeding cash last year I think he survived because we could not afford to pay out another one. I will be very surprised if he is part of the FD in 2015.

I would agree with have shown some improvement LDC but not sure about " by any measure". The difference between now and 1981 is that in 1981 you could still bring in large list changes in one year. That is way more difficult in 2014. Now you can only make incremental changes each year unless a miracle happens and we know how often they happen.

spirit I am struggling with the fascination that Riley seems to inspire in some on here. I have watched him quite a bit. He was not getting more than the occasional game in Adelaide, delisted and then we picked him up. I saw his first Casey game and thought he was a VFL player at best. His AFL games have been struggling affairs , he has poor decision making and average disposal on his good days IMO. He is IMO not much above VFL level if at all.

I have no delusions about how long this will take before we are a respected side bjDee. I fully expect that I will not be around when or if ever that the MFC wins another flag. The system is stacked against Small sides only a miracle will see the likes of the MFC, Bulldogs etc win a GF IMO. I will be happy if we can achieve finals football by the end of this decade. I am hoping for respectability by 2016 but that will need a lot of things to go well.
