  1. If he has the tank, Garland. I wonder if Morton will be 'given a job' if Pavlich plays as a mid.
  2. No - that's irrelevant to whether white or light blue is better.
  3. You can use this line of reasoning to argue for the removal of all compensation picks, can't you? Unless you think that the idea of compensation is fundamentally wrong, then the issue is what is fair. I put it to you that the compensation, as agreed upon by the Clubs, was not fair. This seems pretty uncontroversial - I've already brought up the case of Ablett, and the rules were in fact changed.
  4. We actually play Richmond at the 'G after the Freo game, so you'll have to wait a bit longer for the 'retribution' game I do think they are three very 'win-able' games going into the bye, and it'll be interesting to see how Demonland reacts if we win them all. Leach sounds like he doesn't pay much attention to Melbourne games, given his query over Garland (as reported here: ).
  5. Is this very relevant to the suggestion that we should replace the white in our alternative strip with a light blue?

Artie hasn't used Blease and Strauss to justify Bennell's selection.
  7. ...and with that, we can discuss the actual changes here:
  8. I'd be keen to know too. We spanked Gold Coast and Adelaide. We beat Brisbane. Other 'young' teams have had spankings by Collingwood (ie. Richmond and North). etc.
  9. It was sad to see 'Oooze' struggling at the end. I'm not sure Davey's in the same boat atm.
  10. #2 Collingwood - lost by 88 #3 Carlton - lost by 47 #4 Hawthorn - lost by 45 #5 Sydney - draw //home #6 WCE - lost by 54 //away #8 Essendon - won by 33 #9 St Kilda - lost by 20 #10 Melbourne #12 North - lost by 41 #14 Adelaide - won by 96 #15 Brisbane - won by 11 #17 Gold Coast - won by 90
  11. I generally don't (and won't be listening to this one) (I'll just read about it).
  12. I'll be surprised if the interview is even 'interesting', let alone 'very interesting'. At least 75% of the time [AFL] radio interviews are snooze-worthy, and they rarely hit the heights of 'very interesting'.

Really? I reckon he was on the fringe last week and, from what I could tell, didn't do much versus Collingwood. After having 3-4 games at AFL level it wouldn't be so bad to head back to the VFL.
  14. Agreed. IMO it's worse to not make a call than it is to make a call based on an incorrect guess.
  15. Come on...seriously? Even if you thought GC/GWS wouldn't target rising stars it is idiotic if you didn't consider the possibility and then argue for appropriate compensation in the event that it did happen. Maybe the Clubs got railroaded, as has been suggested in this thread, but the 'we didn't expect it to happen' defence is honestly pathetic.

Given Petterd has been named in the 18 it seems likely he's a definite in for Jetta. Garland is best 22 so he should play if fit, and I'd drop Evans. I liked it.
  17. First, I think it's pretty pathetic to not even consider the possibility. They never considered 'what if..?'. Second, Geelong complained about the compensation - and it was changed, wasn't it? - because the compensation was going to be inadequate. Ablett wasn't a first or second-year player. Did the CEOs think GC and GWS were only going to consider mid-age battlers and pension-seekers?
  18. I lol'd. Pathetic. It's not 'we weren't aware...', it's 'we didn't consider the ramifications'.
  19. Fair call - a positive association always helps.
  20. I didn't! That said, I think you make a decent point.
  21. I might be, but given the huge threads ranting about alternate strips before our current one was adopted, contrasted with the almost complete lack of interest in the topic now, I don't reckon I am.
  22. I reckon Eade gets marked harshly. The entire competition is designed so that you can't stay up for long, so it's no big deal - IMO - that his teams were struggling when he was moved on. I suggested that he should have left WB at the end of last year and I reckon if he did it would have been better for both parties. His rep would have been better, and WB could have either rebuilt the side or gone for a [Geelong] Scott-style rejuvenation.
