  1. I think the Ward call was a fair one; after all, his pace - and ability to find the footy - was why he was in the team, despite his penchant to turn it over. The poster wasn't saying Yarran was only as good as Ward. (In fact, the poster was talking about some bloke called Yarren).
  2. James Sellar (calf) - test James Strauss (leg) - test Josh Tynan (foot) - 2 weeks Leigh Williams (virus) - 3 weeks Jordan Gysberts (jaw) - 3-5 weeks Michael Evans (back) - indefinite Neville Jetta (ankle) - indefinite Max Gawn (knee) - season
  3. No one else rated Richmond's Grimes that highly, right?
  4. I reckon it has more substance - certainly no less - than most footy articles (which, incidentally, is why I don't read much of the footy press).
  5. His audience isn't Demonland tragics. How many average readers of the Hun know the ins and outs of Melbourne's home base shenanigans, and the fact that the Club isn't actually all at our new base? Maybe it's nothing new to me, but if I read a similar story about St Kilda or whoever it'd probably be news.
  6. 'The bloke was a good player and made some comments on TV I like, so he would be a really good Coach'...? I'm not having a crack at the idea of Ling in particular, but this seems to be the thinking when posts pop up every now and then about getting X former player in as Coach.
  7. I seem to remember Brown and Bradshaw working alright. Other teams also have played two big forwards and had success; Pods and Hawkins, Franklin and Rough, Dawes and Cloke, Riewoldt and Kosi, etc Anyhow, I don't see Clark as a 'gorilla'; sure, he's a big guy, but he's got more to his game than just standing under a high ball. He can work up the ground on a lead, is pretty decent when the footy is on the ground, can run around in the ruck, etc.
  8. Not willing? Rather it's that the daring run and carry isn't the gameplan.
  9. Nice post, but odd that you're talking about DB a few years after the fact. Oh wait... Really? I reckon there's a clear preference from Neeld for the players to go down the line, take safer options, etc.
  10. ...and then GWS bid for Viney anyway and when we try and cry foul GWS says 'we never made any deal'.
  11. Haha. I'm disappointed no one has posted a notsureifsrs jpg. Not anymore.
  12. Not that I'm using an appeal to authority, but Richard Hinds' article in The Age today mirrors my feelings on Clarke's comments: http://www.theage.co...l#ixzz1txyQEQSa I also agree with Hinds' comments on Clarke as captain.
  13. No doubt? Plenty of players never 'get it', so I don't think it's inevitable.
  14. If you have some other idea feel free to share. Getting gifted games hasn't done the trick in terms of developing that minimum level of hardness/appetite for the contest that's required.
  15. I can't say that is in any way surprising...Watts takes the soft option far too often, and that's not exactly outweighed by his influence on the game either. Not everyone's going to have a great appetite for the physical side of the game, but that doesn't mean you can opt out entirely. I'm glad he's been dropped, because I think it might assist in him becoming a better player.
  16. Swift? The kid's had 40+ games in a row, and you can't seriously say he deserved those games on form alone.
  17. Burgan? He gets paid by us to produce some exclusive content. As much as it's nice to read something positive, I wouldn't hold up someone employed to write puff pieces as an example for all journos. In case Burgan's Mum is reading, this is not meant in any way as a criticism of the guy; he's performing the job he's employed to do. Hah.
  18. I thought his Pacino and Bush were very good.
  19. Indeed. The next Test isn't for yonks, so - particularly given the circumstances, but even under under normal cases - there's no need to say he's done, even if you'd made that decision.
