  1. Funny, but we need more people signing up to be organ donors http://www.donatelife.gov.au/Discover.html
  2. I like Morton, but there were 4-5 pretty ordinary contests out on the southern side of the ground. He wasn't helped by the wind, given it made reading the ball a bit more difficult, but he needs to be stronger in the contest. He fluffed the ball a bit by foot as well.
  3. I didn't rate him. Joel Mac is, IMO, far better than Read.
  4. I'd feel pretty uncomfortable whne the cameraman started moving around to me, knowing that my behaviour was going to be analysed.
  5. We think having one thread for all Scully discussion is the best way not to have the board clogged with multiple threads on very similar Scully-related topics. If you - or any other people - want to talk about moderation please start another thread and/or contact a moderator directly. We'd like to keep this thread on-topic, so I'll remove further posts about moderation here (but feel free to raise them elsewhere). Thanks.
  6. As much as he has some really good qualities, there are reasons why he hasn't played more. He's not very quick and his kicking can let him down.
  7. The guys I'd want to bring in are Jamar, Gysberts and Tapscott. That said, Tapscott might be best served by having a run at Casey and I'm not sure if Gys wil be right to go. Blease would be close but I'd be [pleasantly] surprised if he came in while Cook probably needs to wait for a suitable opening, and the guys we're most likely to drop are smalls/mids. Gawn's unlucky but I think we could find two to drop from the names commonly mentioned in this thread.
  8. Hi guys (and gals), We've decided to close this thread. Another thread has been created if you would like to continue discussing Scully: Please note the request to keep the discussion civil. Thanks.
  9. Hi, We understand that there's considerable interest in Scully on-field and off-field, so we've decided to create a new thread to house Tom Scully discussion. On Scully's contract situation, a brief reminder that the consistent line from player and Club has been as follows: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/i-havent-spoken-to-gws-melbourne-star-tom-scully/story-e6frf9jf-1226015805893 Please keep the discussion civil and keep on-topic. Given that large discussion threads can get out of hand fairly easily, we'll be moderating the topic heavily if needed. Thanks.
  10. Yeah, for sure - I think you're right and I'm not suggesting that we're a shoe-in; simply that the draw will allow us to make finals if we deserve to, given that chalking up wins against other sides who are outside the top eight will be enough.
  11. What the..? Garland cemented a spot in our side a very long time ago and is not someone we would want to trade out because we don't need/want him! Bartram has also cemented a spot in our side, but we'll be a better side when/if we can replace him.
  12. I see where you're coming from, but if we deserve to make the top eight we won't be impeded by this draw. We play six games against teams who are outside the eight, and have won less games than us - including three games against the bottom two. I also think WCE, who will finish in the bottom half of the eight, are a much better team home at Subi/Patersons than they are in Victoria. I guess it could be softer, but it seems pretty decent. I thought you might have been alluding to the fact we play a home game at Etihad, and I immediately thought of the fact we've 'sold' our game to Darwin. I wonder how people will feel about the game being sold to Darwin if we just miss out on finals. (I don't think it matters much this year, but I wouldn't want to be going there when places mattered).
  13. Really? #10 Richmond - two games #13 Western Bulldogs - one game #16 Port Adelaide - two games (both interstate) #17 Gold Coast - one game Throw WCE into the mix and I think it's a fair expectation that if we deserve a top eight berth we'll win most of those. PS. Darwin says hi.
  14. He's studying law (or a law double degree).
  15. Sorry loges, I didn't realise the finals had already been played. (That, or you're talking about last year).
  16. It's true that we're 'not quite there yet', but we have a soft draw so anything can happen. We won't do much if we do make it, though.
  17. Has it has a long-term impact on him, or do you just think he 'missed the boat', so to speak?
  18. I thought we already did this. Maybe we should call a press conference and then play the footage of Scully at the last one, because the line is the same.
  19. I didn't see DB pumping up Jurrah but I definitely thought we were deliberately trying to involve him in the game during that last quarter.

    GAWN

To get some games into Gawn at this stage of his development is excellent. He'll probably be disappointed to go back to Casey but he wouldn't have expected to get a run in the AFL and - despite his promise - he still has plenty to work on. That said, he's a super exciting prospect!
  21. Jamar's injury - + Spencer and Fitz! - has been the making of Martin. I imagine that being thrown into the ruck and essentially guaranteed games has combined to fast-track his development and given him some confidence that he can perform at AFL level.

    Jeremy Howe

Howe is a really exciting prospect. He doesn't have the X-factor of Jurrah, but he works hard to find the footy and uses the ball well. I think it makes it even more difficult for Bate to crack into the team.
  23. Joel Mac has some really good qualities. Although I don't think he's best 22, he reads the ball really well in the air and goes hard at the contest. I love his endeavour.
