  1. I thought this might have been a thread about the guy who put $1M on Geelong to defeat Essendon.
  2. Absolutely. I'm with you on this too. You cut players some slack if they're taking the game on repeatedly; it's impossible to do so without turning the ball over at times, but that needs to be balanced against the benefit to the team when the attacking play pays off.
  3. Bleeeeaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeee!
  4. I thought there was a decent crowd for the Melb v Essendon game in '07. EDIT: The crowd was 47,552 (according to Wikipedia).
  5. Indeed. Someone suggested it is a TV studio rather than a football ground and that seems a fair call. That said, apart from not being able to see the boundary line from parts of Level 3 I think the viewing is, in general, pretty good. There are a bunch of reasons why you might not go to the games at Etihad. I think the atmosphere is pretty ordinary, the ticketing arrangements are expensive/inconvenient. We don't play very well there and are generally the away team, meaning those without away game entitlements have to fork out cash to see the game. Since most people don't go to the footy every week it's not surprising they're more likely to go to games at the 'G; If I only attended a few games a year I'd be going to matches at the 'G.
  6. I agree. I'd be surprised if we upgraded Evans. No we weren't; I thought it was a good move to trade TJ.
  7. He played the majority of his footy as a lead-up option. I'm sure many Demons fans will regale you with tales of Miller pushing up the wing, taking a mark and handballing to a bloke a metre away from him.
  8. Good call. It's so hard to know how players will go at captaincy, but particularly when they're still finding their feet at AFL level. I'm confident that good leaders - and a good captain - will emerge from one of the young guys we have at the moment.
  9. There's no doubt Morton is struggling a bit this season, and I think that much of the criticism at least has some sort of valid foundation. However, he also has strengths and while he hasn't come on as we would have hoped I'm not willing to write him off yet.

I agree. I think this is one part of his game he has improved.
  11. He mostly played up the ground for us...
  12. I'd probably have him in my best 22 already.
  13. I think one of the problems we've had is that teams have been better at preventing us from switching the play out of defence, and we've not had the penetration/run to break the wall of players that move from one side of the ground to another. We should be a bit better in this regard on Friday, and this would definitely be the case if Tapscott was fit.
  14. The more I see, the more I like. Perhaps the most heartening thing is the way he is prepared to take the game on when the opportunity presents, even if he was caught trying to do so a minute or two ago; he doesn't go back into his shell after he makes a mistake, which is impressive for a young player.
  15. What I liked is that he was much stronger in the contests on the weekend. That part of his game is really coming along, which is excellent.
  16. I loved Jurrah's last goal; particularly the bit where, running into goal, he pointed at a Richmond guy in an effort to get Petterd (?) to lay the shepherd. I'd play Davey as a forward. I don't think playing other guys, like Watts and Jamar/Martin, as marking options is such a bad thing. Jurrah could have had 6 on the weekend and plenty of his play looked 'natural' and 'instinctive'; plus there were some great 'team acts' and discipline.
  17. I've been thinking the same thing. I'd play Davey as a forward with - as many players have - some time up the ground. DB has mentioned that he'd have loved to have a Davey in each part of the ground, and with the development of some 'pacey' players in defence and in the midfield I think we might see it happen. I'm also interested in seeing what Tapscott can do in a more attacking role, as I've mentioned a few times. I think Evans is a long way off the rest - fair enough for a rookie - and Nicholson is a fair way off a midfield role at the moment. I also don't agree that JoelMac is best 22, but he does have some good attributes and there are a few spots up for grabs.
  18. It could be something to do with the opposition we've played. WCE > Gold Coast. Kangaroos > Adelaide. Collingwood > Essendon. How surprising that we lost to the stronger team and beat the weaker teams!
  19. There was a SBS 'documentary'/reality TV show called 'Go back to where you came from': http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/society-and-culture/a-mile-in-the-shoes-of-refugees-20110620-1gbsa.html
  20. If that's the case then please drop this line of discussion, because it's even more circular than the general Scully back and forth. Thanks.
  21. It's ironic that you think the speculation of Demonland members is destructive, and may give reason for Scully to leave, when your posts are fuelling the fire. Anyhow.
  22. Thanks, Captain. Except the sub generally does come from the interchange, so the scenarios are completely different.
