  1. Love it how BP plays it down. "...so we'll just see what ever name comes out on the day."

    You have to love BP:

"Prendergast wasn’t at AAMI Stadium that day and amazingly, still hasn’t seen vision from the game."

"How many times can you [censored] a dead horse?’’ he said."

"Sometimes with players you’ve seen enough."

  2. Not adequately supported? Well that would be the opposite to the issues he was having at St Kilda. He can't have it both ways.

Fair slap in the face if true.

Might speak to a lack of confidence in his body's ability to hold up to a full time midfield role (complete with tag).

I'd prefer we looked to someone who has a chance of being in the side when our serious premiership window opens up (as opposite to our "finals window")

  3. god...thought this was a joke til I checked.... still do  !! talk about lame !!

Really. This the first demons shirt I've seen that can actually be worn as a part of your normal wardrobe - without looking like you are off to the game or just back from training.

    Good work MFC merchandise people!!

  4. 4 years appears too much to me. it's up to aaron to prove he is worth it. let's hope he doesnt get complacent now that he has 4 years.

congrats to davey on the new contract.

I'm not that worried. Aaron Davey's story, current playing ability and potential contribution to the indigenous culture of the MFC is priceless.

  5. Some clown called up SEN - and stated that because Scully doesn't know who his father is .. Carlton we're going to get him DNA tested to see if one of their former 100 game players did the deed, and hence take him as a F/S.

Absolute nonsense, cannot beleive it's spread like gospel.

Although, from what Jack Elliot says if any club was going to qualify for a bulk discount on DNA tests it would be Carlton!

  6. He was following the money, pure and simple.

From what I caught of the half time interview with Juddy, he seemed to admit this - said something like "wasn't thinking about playing finals when he decided to go to Carlton"?!?!?!

If he wasn't thinking of playing finals then it must just have been the facilities - I hear VISY put on a great morning tea for their ambassadors!

2 weeks. please let us play carlton round 1

Would be nice. What are the odds of a Lions-Blues rematch in round 3?

  7. Already got a fantastic backline coach in Wellman, but maybe replace Mahoney.

Not sure what Mahoney has done (or not done) to be given the flick so easily.

Hasn't Mohoney also been a big part of our NT push? His relationships with certain players may be important.

  8. Threadbare forward line, some good midfielders surrounded by rubbish, and one or two decent KP defenders alongside more rubbish. No ruckmen either.

A harsher critic than I could say you are describing Melbourne!!

Still bleeding_R&B - I think you are safe.

  9. I don't envy BarryPrendergast atm. A Key forward or a midfielder?? Damned if he does, damned if he doesnt.

It sounds obvious, but I think we should go with the least speculative. From my limited knowledge of Butcher and Trengrove - that would be Trengrove.

At this stage in our development, we need help in many areas - so we should be risk adverse and go with Scully and Trengrove and look at big bodied talls with our later picks.

  10. Nathan's latest tweet:

"nathan2jones 60 knot winds @ casey for the main session - the boys were split into two teams & jake spencer got play of the day with a long bomb from 50"

    Spencer to full-forward?

  11. Much like Melbourne fans being [censored] off because we were out-tanked by Carlton - I think Caro is annoyed that Richmond was "out-under-performed" (I notice that Coughlan, Tuck, & Rance weren't called up for the Dees game despite stellar form in the VFL the week before).

The media just need to get over the fact that we don't care about the result of the remaining games.

The level of experimentation is no different than a pre-season match and no-one accuses pre-season teams of losing intentionally.

Some might say it is a fine line between wanting to lose and not caring whether you win or lose. But the distinction is legitimate and if you are going to argue that the latter is 'tanking' then a lot of games in football history (both recent and ancient) were 'tanked'.

  12. "@nathan2jones main session @ casey was solid this morning!! boys trained well, congrats jordie mac, elevated today!! im buggered now.. quite arvo for sure!"

Live from Twitter. Nathan Jones confirms McKenzie elevated today.

  13. Court won't award an order of specific performance for personal services.

    Please explain

It basically means a court will not force you to perform the 'service' - in this case playing footy - for that employer, basically because it was considered to be too much like slavery.

Instead the court will prevent you from doing the same service for another employer - that''s why footballers have on occasion waited out contracts

  14. I base my opinion on a number of aspects....

I think the Saints made the same analysis about Tim Watson!

    1. Watson has a passion and wants to coach. He has put his hand up for 1999.

    2. He has always commanded respect among his peers and younger guys.

    3. He has obvious footy smarts.

    4. (And perhaps the most important) the kudos, marketing currency, a general exposure he would bring to the SKFC would be priceless.

  15. If the best is available ...

    Hi iv'a,

I feel a bit out of the loop up here in Sydney - but what are you basing this 'best available' judgment of Buckley on?

Surely not just his assistant coach role at the AIS and his coaching of the U16 Vic rep team.

Is it based on the comparative success of Voss at Brisbane? - http://sportal.com.au/afl-opinion-display/...ling-pies-70584

I don't think Voss's success is a true reflection of his coaching ability (or any sort of reflection of list management ability) - after all he did inherit a team containing 6 members of the Lions team of the decade still in their prime plus a good group of talented and physically mature youngsters (almost the exact opposite of the team that Bailey did inherit and Buckley would inherit).
