Listening to the cats tigers game and hearing Harry Taylor is 1 on 1 with Rance and out marking him, I have always said if you get Rance out on his own to defend he struggles. He is great at the 3rd man up but when he has to defend he can be beaten. Nathan Brown on mmm just mentioned how Hogan got hold of him a while back because he plays differently to other forwards because he runs up the ground to get it. Agree very ballsy of Goodwin to make this call. Look when Melbourne don't do well Watts cops it but over the past 3 weeks he hasnt been great. Yes he isnt the only one but last week he didnt register a kick in the 1st half. From watching over the past 3 weeks his tackling pressure wasnt there, he dropped easy marks and he was trying to take them stretching out the 1 arm. This is his 8th season not his 2nd or 3rd. He got dropped in the pre season for form and attitude. I know it's his nature to be calm and laid back but sometimes we need more from him. Anyway if we lose Goodwin will have everyone gunning for him but I admire his stance. Personally I would have given him 1 more week but anyway this is why Im not the coach. Bit disappointed Maynard got dropped. I thought he showed something to give him another week. I'd like to see Maxy play forward a bit more on sunday. Happy to see Brayshaw back in. I had a look at our midfield and there stats. They all nearly had double the handballs than kicks. That's not going to get the ball forward. At some stage it needs to be drilled into the players head to not over use the handball. But im not mad after yesterday. I am more mad about last week. Maybe I just know that GWS are sitting 3rd on the ladder for a reason and although they were missing there 2 key forwards, they are still a good team. But the next 3 weeks are interesting because it's now up to the players if they want to play in September or not. We can and should win the last 3. I just hope it doesnt come down to r23 and us having to beat the pies to make it. I couldnt cope if the pies put us out and even worse if it beats the bummers in. But looking back those stupid losses to freo, hawthorn and nth and even geelong when we couldnt kick straight will come back to bite us. Anyway bring on next week.
