  3. I reckon Brisbane did best picking up Bartlett & Maguire. Maguire could play a big part in strengthening their defence alongside Patful & Merrett, and Bartlett will be a gun. Despite some hit and miss trades they are shaping as a really strong team on paper. North and Geelong also look like they've got some good value for money.

    B20's Top 11

That's what everybody is doing isn't it? For the record, my top 5 of 2008 (based on U18 Championship footage only) was 1. Rory Sloane 2. Tyrone Vickery 3. Daniel Rich 4. David Zaharakis 5. Ashley Smith
  5. This is not a phantom draft but more of a subjective list of players I liked most based on the videos at the AFL site and on youtube. I wanted to do a longer and more comprehensive list but this is all I had time for. Will be interesting to look back on in a few years from now. 1. Tom Scully – Nuggety and determined, looks like a midfield workhorse. The type of player who will become the heart & soul of a midfield. The logical #1 choice. 2. Callum Bartlett – Fast, skillful, strong and evasive. Doesn’t look to have a weakness in his game. The only reason I haven’t got him at number 1 is the doubts over his fitness. 3. Jack Trengove – Well balanced, prototype midfielder who looks strong in most areas. The most assured pick of the draft. 4. Daniel Talia - Awkward kicking action and looks more of a defender than a forward but is tough as nails and strong overhead and just looks a solid player. 5. Kane Lucas – Skillful and pacy with good awareness. 6. Liam Patrick - Saw footage of him for the first time last night and he looks impressive. Skillful with great agility and determination. I tip he will make it and would love for him to do it at Melbourne. 7. Levi Casboult – Looks like the best tall forward in the draft to me. Exceptionally strong overhead and reliable in front of goal with great strength and action. 8. Mitchell Carter – Looks like a smart player with good skills and decision making. Surprised I haven’t heard a lot about him. 9. Taylor Duryea – Looks quick & smart with a lovely kicking action. Surprised I haven’t heard much about him either. 10. Myles Pitt – Great overhead and on the lead and looks a natural forward. 11. Jack Fitzpatrick – Only saw his video for the first time today and he looks extremely agile, & skillful for a player of his size & reads the game well. I like him more than Vardy & Gawn. Other players I liked were Ben Cunnington, Luke Tapscott, Jasper McMillan-Pittard, Alexander Stopp & Aaron Black.
  6. Been watching some highlights on the AFL site and so far my favourites are 1. Callum Bartlett 2. Kane Lucas 3. Daniel Talia 4. Levi Casboult 5. Myles Pitt 6. Tom Scully 7. Jack Trengove 8. Ben Cunnington I know our first 2 picks are locked but if we pick up any of the others with our next 3 picks I'll be happy.
  7. Watts Miller Bate Petterd Jurrah Wonnaeamirri This is our most dangerous forward structure and the one we should go with from round 1. A really good mix of youth & experience, talls & smalls with plenty of x factor. I have my doubts about Jack Watts but at this stage having Miller as his foil won't do him any harm. The Jurrah/Petterd combo deep in the forward line works. Neither are traditional FF's but both are good overhead and at ground level and most teams will struggle to keep both of them quiet. Wonaeamirri as the typical FP to pick up the leftovers from an aerially dominant forward structure. And he's not too shabby in the air either. Looks dangerous to me.
  8. Bradshaw will be good for a couple of years yet and can do just as good a job in the back half as up front. Rischitelli's footskills would have to be his biggest asset. He does make the occasional blunder but I put this down to confidence more than anything else. A midfield core of Judd, Murphy, McLean, Rischitelli is a good mix and looks pretty dangerous to me.
  9. I reckon Tuck is severely underrated. If we were a couple of years further along in our development he could easily be our 2010 more explosive version of Stephen Powell. Other players who present value in my eyes are Luke Ball, Matt Maguire, Matthew Stokes, Nick Lower, Daniel Gilmore, Everitt, Nicoski, Bradshaw & Rischitelli. Watch out for Carlton next year if the Fev trade goes through.

    Forum game

I would love to play in this game but November 8 is no good for me either. Any other day would be fine!!

  12. Fair enough, but I can personally see them each being much more than bit players in a quality team. Nick Lower has been crucified at Port. Continues to get 30+ posessions each week at SANFL level and doesn't get a look in. When he does he performs fairly well and then gets dropped. No wonder he looks ordinary. Daniel Gilmore can play anywhere on the ground, is mobile, good overhead and has good pace for his size. Doesn't get a look in either and with some confidence would be a nightmare match up for the opposition. Mark Nicoski is deadly as a running half back flanker. Just needs some consistency and quality around him and I think he'd shine.
  13. 3 players who I reckon have never lived upto their potential and could turn out to be bargains if instilled with a bit of confidence. Would be worth a PSD selection at least. I know we are trying to rebuild but these guys are not exactly old and would be hungry to prove their old sides wrong. What do you think?
