WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JORDAN LEWIS

We've rebuilt our club off the back of losing Scully, there's no way he's worth Tyson, Salam and hogan.... I was shattered at the time, but bloody glad now.... The pressure from Jim and media hype got us massive overs in compensation, that we never get in a trade... Look at what Gold Coast got for O'Meara, we scored in that deal... this off season is the polar opposite of the dark days of Scully bags and the Alice Springs machete genius.... PJ and Roos have truely transformed this club and I'm forever greatful.... -
I just noticed Fremantle has delisted jack Hannath, I wonder if he could fill the ruck forward hole we have... Would be awesome to see him in the red and blue, especially considering how close we were to drafting him... He was practically one of the boys, then freo cut our grass...

So what gets it done? As an ageing star, He's probably got two solid years left... Would Trengove and Dawes get it done? What kind of compensation do they get next year, if he walks? so many questions -

Apart of me thinks the required player thing is just a tactic, to get more for ageing stars... They need to drop the age of their group or they'll fall like the Aussie cricket team did, when the greats retired... Who knows? The Mitchell trade could be a decoy for this one? Or vice-verser.... Good get for us and a necessary move for the Hawks.... -

Wow!! Would be an awesome pick up, what would the hawks want? They clearly don't want to lose him, would be nice pay back for Bruce and Frawley... Get it done Dee's!! -
I'm more than happy to take the blame mr little...

Im curious... When does his current contract end? Why did he step away from the leadership group?

As excited as I'am for us stealing Petracca with pick 2, I don't believe he's earned this comparison yet... any comparison between him and Allen Jackovich needs to be saved until, he at least proves he can play seniors on the main arena... Who knows if Petracca will even make it yet, He's got along way to go yet... Every year our new recruits get unwarranted praise and expectations become so high that it's inevitable, that we'll be left wanting.... Personally I'm glad we have him and I'm happy just have him play in the twos all year and develop properly...

I'm totally rapped we got these kids, the boost they give our future midfield is huge... With all the crazy draft hype now days, it's easy to forget that they are just kids who are unlikely to have any major impact next... but... If they do, I'll just be hoping we can keep them... With the way player movement is going, I doubt we'll keep them all...

Other sports have adopted these tactics, in an attempt to catch up to the excitement AFL brings... Rather than try to join the herd, the AFL should focus on our differences... Our game doesn't need a glamorous displays and hyped up rock shows to draw crowds? We have crowds... Our game should aim to in hans our community ties, via opening and closing ceremonies... Our game is sacred and should be given the respect it deserves... All AFL teams should march to the "G" and knell to the raising of the cup... The Cup should be treated as absolutely sacred and no members of any team should ever be allowed to touch it, without winning it... Im not talking about dangling it from strings and flying it around the "G"... I'm talking Olympic flame style respect... After making it's way around the country it should be raised in to a glass cabinet at the MCG, to be admired for the entire year...

4 maybe 5 wins and we'll finish 16th

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - OSCAR MCDONALD

Let him develop for a few years!!! That's way too sensible for us... Farout!! If he isn't pushing for the top ten in the comp by his second year, then we have him in the gun... Development? Pfft... Get real....Lol.. -
Also... When a player is forced to play with a debilitating injury for two years, due to mismanagement and substandard medical checks and rehabilitation... are we really surprised that he's re injured his foot? He'll play AFL again, but not for a few years yet... His best is worth the wait, whether our club can wait... Who knows? He might turn out to be another gem we have stored for the Hawks...

Really? One of those picks got us Hogan, Barry and Dawes... Hardly a waste...

Who knows what could pop out of that treasure chest in the next few years? -
lol... I agree... I'd actually prefer to pick a self assured, confident and somewhat arrogant player with a high pick, then a highly skilled introverted kid lacking in confidence, In fact I'd be slightly worried if he wasn't arrogant... Some of the games biggest champions are arrogant tools and it would almost be impossible to get that good and not be arrogant...
-
If Petracca slides then it's Brayshaw and Petracca... If he doesn't slide, then it's Brayshaw and Lever... Lever is the interesting one? Looked a clear number 1 pick last year, but due to injury hasn't been able to back it up... Collingwood seemed very eager to get another high pick this year and I'd say Lever is the reason... he's the Collingwood special...lol...if we don't pick him, he won't slide passed pick 5... I'd almost take him over Brayshaw, if Petracca slides...

I'd consider Kane Lucas...

The biggest worry for me with free agency, is the potential for struggling clubs to be farmed out of contention... Successful clubs will rotate between the struggling clubs picking off their developed players every year, leaving struggling clubs stuck in a compensation/development loop... Being awarded pick 3 as compensation for Frawley looks great on paper and under the old system is great, but with free agency here it's really just another set back and a delay in progress... The value of draft picks has diminished because of free agency, which will allow strong clubs to rebuild without closing their premiership window... There's the suggestion that we could always trade the compensation picks to break the loop... but... The reality is... why would anyone trade for draft picks/young players, when they can just poach them in a few years for nothing anyway? We had zero inquiries about our picks, because the farming has already begun... If compensation regarding free agency doesn't change, then struggling clubs will never have a real chance at success again... My suggestion is.. If a free agent is poached and is considered within the compensation bands, then the poaching club should be required to pay a fee... Which would be given to the other clubs salary cap.. Band 1... $300,000 extra cap, plus middle first round pick Band 2... $150,000 extra cap, plus end of first round pick Band 3... $80,000 extra cap, plus end of second round pick Band 4... $20,000 extra cap, plus end of third round pick The club losing the free agent, should be entitled to activate or save or trade this extra space...

Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
Tatu replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
After playing on this injury for as long as he has, I'm not surprised that its not completely healed... I'm sure if Trengove is given more rest and rehabilitation time, then he'll over come this and get back to his best... I understand that we need our talented players to perform now, but this injury needs a patient approach.. If we rush he treatment and recovery again, then it's more than likely we'll never see him at his best... He's still very young and if we can move him to the rookie list, then we should put him on ice for two years and slowly build he back up... Trengove at his best will be worth the wait... Personally I wouldn't have traded him or even considered trading him, regardless of the depth of his injuries... I agree that we don't owe him a career or a guarantee of success, but we do owe him our loyalty and patience... He backed us in and I'm more then happy to back him in... -

It's probably just another one of Collingwood's sly rumours, to gain some leverage over the Lions... -
Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off

The Bombers are surprised that players want to leave after drugging their players? They place an absurdly high price on Ryder, that nobody would pay? But don't worry the AFL steps in and just hands them pick? They have brought the into disputed by systematically cheating, but are rewarded with a pick higher than the value of the player their losing? Clark retired due to illness, then 6 months later he has an amazing recovery!! Announces he wants to play again, just not with us? Greenwood has one good season, and then holds North over a barrel? Walks to Collingwood!! Griffin walks out on Footscray, because he doesn't like the coach? He's the bloody captain!! Frawley pretends he is considering his options all year, when we all knew he had already agreed to go to hawthorn, then goes to hawthorn? Trengove gives hope to fans by signing an extension, at the clubs darkest hour. He's then bestowed with the pressure of leading this mess up the ladder, while playing with an undiscovered foot injury... He never considers leaving? But the club is considering him for trade? This game is out of control!! Players are switching clubs for money, without even a one second of thought... The rules have been made so complicated that it's becoming hard to follow, and easier to fix... Umpiring decisions are openly corrupted, but are hardly ever questioned... 150/120 year old clubs that should be heritage listed, are frowned upon and discarded for americanised plastic franchises... The governing body make favourable decision for a selected few clubs, that they have invested interest in... They change and bend rules at will without fear of being exposed... They control public opinion via the media, who all push their agenda... Any paper, radio station and Internet site that run AFL stories, are under AFL control... this is how they get away with unjustified decision that they make... if they want something controversial to slip through the net, then they'll get their puppets to push there agenda, sometimes months in advance... The greed and money grubbing is disgusting and I never thought I'd ever say this, but if this is the modern game? Then I don't think I like it... Premierships are won and lost in shady back room deals? -
Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off
Tatu replied to Wiseblood's topic in Melbourne Demons
When we hit rock bottom, after a year of media floggings over Scully and tanking... Trengove stood up... he signed an extension for us when he didn't have too, He gave us hope in our darkest hour... He committed to us...We then went on to stripped the team of the remaining senior players we had, with the idea of getting games into our young players.. We used Trengove as the pin up boy for all our future hopes and dreams, by forcing him into the captaincy and lumping way to much pressure on him...farout!! He hadn't even worked his own game out yet and we wanted him to lead an AFL team out of the pit!! Thats a tough job even for a senior player, let alone a second year player... It is probably the most ridiculously flawed plan ever tried... A fantasy... To attempt to try and recreate the norm smith era...pfft... What were they thinking? It's not the bloody 1950's, just give kids games isn't going to turn them into champions? This is the dumbest strategy ever!! We left our young players massively exposed and the only thing we achieved was destroying any of the confidence they had and Trengove was wearing it all... He was carrying a debilitating foot injury into game, because scans weren't showing a problem and Neeld was leaning on him to play.... What the? Did Neeld think he'd just makeup the pain so he didn't have to play? His word isn't good enough? He was bullied into playing with a debilitating foot injury, because he was captain and slapped by supporters for losing his speed, intensity and acceleration... And now!! After all the [censored] he's been put through, he still wants to stay and we are consider him for trade? I don't give a [censored] about helping out the bombers with there over priced [censored] deal or collingwood with their crappy deal they can [censored] off!!! We owe this kid!!! and if the club goes through with this trade, then they can go and get [censored]!!!
