  1. Blah blah blah. She does have very useful contacts within Melbourne FC but this looks like an opinion piece. Smith and Green were within metres of each other most of Sunday. They seemed fine. They don’t need to like each other. Just co-exist and get on with what they both want to achieve. More success for the club.
  2. Pretty sure I said Disco was an option in the Next Captain thread a month or two ago. Doesn’t drop his bundle. Can back up words with actions and can be swung to the forward line in a pinch. Rivers is another good candidate. People get stuck into him re his kicking at times but he is playing under instruction to take the game on. Other players went into their shell in the 4th. Rivers didn’t.
  3. If you feel the need to refer to yourself as an agenda setter, you’re probably the opposite.
  4. I love Langford. Love him. What’s really exciting is that the things he needs to work on are relatively easy fixes. He needs to work on his handball skills and become less left side dominant. He also needs to work on his body positioning in the contest and get better at accepting and absorbing contact. As far as a list of fix its goes, that’s a very short list for a 1st year player. He’ll run out games better and get stronger just by maturing physically. His game sense, timing and left boot are all potentially elite. It’s really up to him to keep working and for us to provide him with the environment for success.
  5. If/when he writes a memoir of his playing career, I think people will be surprised by his attitude and appraisal of some of the coaches and players he played with.

I’ve heard there will be a public update within a couple of weeks. After we get belted by 10 goals against the Hawks would be good timing.
  7. I can’t talk for the Sydney situation but Goodwin was not the choice of Roos. He was brought in by Jackson.
  8. Accurate. Well done Caro. I wonder how she gets so much good info re MFC?
  9. I can only go if the kids want to go and after going last week, their interest is somewhat lower than normal. Bad parent = make them attend anyway Good parent = let them stay home. Go to a park and then lunch. Maybe we’ll go to the Hawks game instead. Best parent = tell them that today is the last game of the year so we won’t need to talk about footy until March. Then go to a park followed by lunch.
  10. Had to double take, I thought you said, “No Goofy”
  11. I was at the ground and thought that there were a few danger signs mid 3rd qtr. You could hear the Saints players urging each other to run through us. They eventually did in the last. I don’t think they rated our ability to run with them. It was utterly pathetic. Diabolical. A new low point in an awful season. If I had 2 years in a row like Goody, I would’ve been sacked 6 weeks ago.
  12. We shouldn’t be gifting any young player game time. Particularly players who haven’t shown the ability to play a role successfully, like Kolt. I’ve been against that policy for a looooooooong time. He needs experience as a mid. Pure and simple. That must happen at Casey. As for his overall prospects, he lacks awareness, composure and isn’t clean with his gathering or disposing of the ball. As someone who did a little scouting ~ 10 years ago, the above traits were considered crucial and not something that could be improved post draft. That concerns me.
  13. This is like watching two armless men arm wrestle.
  14. We should be losing by more.

Clazza is my favourite player of all time. He is super humble and friendly. Lovely to my kids (and all kids for that matter) and very genuine. He could’ve retired at the conclusion of 2021 and would still be one of the greatest MFC players of all time. I won’t be there this week as I am overseas but I will be watching at a bar somewhere…. Good luck tonight Clazza!!
  16. Remember when Gawn kicked across the goals late in a game and missed the target? May went to ‘critique’ Max’s effort but was stopped by Turner. He’s a gun. Future/current leader.
  17. Thank god someone mentioned this. I was reading this thread thinking to myself, “surely everyone remembers at the end of 2020 when ANB was told he could looks elsewhere. No teams wanted him. Re Kolt. Never really understood why we were so enthusiastic to get him at the time as he seemingly had no translatable elite traits but happy to be patient as he is now ours. I do worry that we seem to gift him games. I don’t like the standard it sets for him or his teammates playing at Casey. Maybe I am missing something and he does something specific that isn’t easy to track as a supporter but the eye test does make me a tad nervous at times. Hopefully his teammates feel differently.
  18. An insight into your social interactions I see….
  19. Kentfield is intriguing. A tad undersized perhaps but good mobility and good hands. Mihocek is not a bad upside comp. We are screaming out for a small forward with a bit of a skip to his step. Mentha is the only player playing tonight who shows glimpses.
  20. I’ll fess up and say that I am a Howes believer. BUT I must say how much I have loved his development and watching his maturity tonight. Young players who can go back to VFL and clearly look a level above are in short supply at the MFC. Howes has time, good hands, great mobility and decent skills. With more experience that will continue to translate to AFL.
  21. First time I’ve listened. It’s pretty harmless. Not the best nor the most vitriolic I’ve heard or read. They do represent a subset of the supporter base so their opinion is as worthy as any other diehard fan.
  22. We need to keep one players of McVee’s calibre so his imminent signing is great news. From a development standpoint, he has shown his defensive versatility but I would love to see him get further up the field. His kicking would be much better utilised from half back/midfield rather than last line. Maybe spending more time next preseason with the mids.
  23. Never saw him play but met him a couple of times at club functions. He was a great man who loved to chat footy. His No Merger stance really resonated with me. Must’ve been hard for him as I think it strained more than a few relationships in his life. Vale.
  24. I had a coach in u/16’s, one week in preseason, make us kick only banana, torps, snaps and end on end grubbers to help us with our skills. I always felt it worked. And I got quite proficient at the 20m stab torp. Could nail that kick. Maybe we should have the boys play soccer with an Aussie rules footy?
  25. It’s always nice when you’re struggling as a KF and you get to play back for a few weeks. Your head feels better, less punches to the ears and the ball isn’t just dumped on you.
