Delistings/trades at end of the season
rjay. you've made your point really well, and I totally agree with you. There's a big difference between trading in good or very good players to build a star team, and punting it all on an elite player. Judd to Carlton & GAJ to GCS are other examples of a superstar trade that was supposed to bring the ultimate reward much closer, but ended up taking both teams much further away.

When will Melbourne break these embarrassing records?
Could we add "beat a team coached by a Whinge Twin"?

Absolutely right. At full pace too. A "don't argue" stops the tackler grabbing your body, but if they have the presence of mind to grab your arm, you're totally stuffed. Love the way Weller realised he was in deep trouble the moment Viney grabbed his arm and used it to pull him in closer. Then he really found out how much trouble he was in. And I can't wait for Dustin Martin to try the "don't argue" again on Viney.

It's this difference between "resigns" and "re-signs". Where's the hyphen, people??!! In Sloane's case, unfortunately the latter.

They were talking about Collingwood on SEN. The plan being, Swan out, Dangermouse in, on maybe twice as much as Pendles. Great recipe for instability, I sincerely hope they go for it. When is it time to get in Swan's ear?

Definitely trade value. For each, we'd need a high pick and a very very good player, or at the very least a good player who meets a desperate need. Do GCS or Brisbane need a versatile reliable defender, a specie merchant or a tall forward with iron hands???

I'd be really happy if Aish was our second target midfielder. Wouldn't be as happy if he was our first target, ahead of the likes of Prestia or Coniglio or Sloane. Is it too greedy to want Aish AND Prestia?? Or do we not have enough to give to get both?

Again, people have such short memories. A fully fit & firing Trengove would be like having another Tyson, except right-footed, stronger & could run all day. If he's almost-but-not-quite fit & firing, then it's half-back etc. Trengove fully fit is top-drawer midfielder. He's not as limited as Scully.

I definitely remember Joe Cocker having to cancel a show (during my exams!!!) in the mid-70s because a lot of things went wrong. They then rescheduled the show to start at midnight after he had already done a show earlier that night, which was a spectacular success. And I'm pretty certain it worked so well that a few other bands did the same when they ran out of dates for an extra show. I remember trying to find my way home at 2.30am from Festival Hall after an awesome midnight show by, of all people, the Eagles (probably because it was their first tour after Joe Walsh joined) in about 1975, not long after Cocker did it. In those days a Joe show could be sublime, or it could be a mess. He was never "so-so".
