  1. Spot on, BRFE. All those salivating over the likes of Freeman and Crouch, because they've seen a few pictures of them or a YouTube clip, take note. The MFC's drafting philosophies have been cyclical over the past decade or so. Prior to that '03 draft, we lacked a grunt engine room, so the decision was seemingly made to go after well built, stronger players. I'll take well rounded every day, please.
  2. Oh wait. There's a new contender for worst post of the year.
  3. Hahaha. One of the best rumours of the trade period so far. A kayak? Hahaha. Rockliff would be amazing though.
  4. Sorry mate, but this has to be one of the worst posts of the year. You don't give up a top #2 pick unless you're getting an A grader back.
  5. How about Sewell AND Cross? I cannot fathom how picking up both of them would be detrimental in any way. It'd be horrible having two proven ball winners in our 22.
  6. Horribly digressive, but I can't wait until Prestia is OOC again. Go hard demons. The next Brad Sewell, but more dynamic.
  7. Sorry, but Grimes is not your class. Just as Savage isn't your grunt, nor is Clisby really.
  8. I can't understand anyone saying no to Sewell. He's just won his second premiership at the Hawks and despite being dropped earlier in the year, was an integral part of their flag success. If Hawthorn was asking for the #2 pick, alright, but he will come relatively cheaply. And of course we could play Sewell and Cross in the same midfield. FFS, have people already forgotten about how rubbish our midfield was this year? Jones, Viney, Sewell, Cross, Toumpas, Trengove and Grimes is at least competitive. Add Aish or an upcoming mid that we trade for pick #2 and we might be watchable next year.
  9. Would love Sewell. I often wonder how he would have turned out had that trade gone through all those years ago.
  10. Not a bad place to defect to. Judd, Goddard, Ziebell etc. But maybe I'm biased.
  11. I agree. It's particularly non-buoyant. But I'd be more inclined to take #2 to the draft if the best we can do is Smith and Parker.
  12. I just wonder though if Sydney are trying to open up cap space, would they deem JPK and Parker as expendable? I'd argue if it meant getting their hands on a 10-12 year elite ball user with #2, it might be worth it, given their midfield depth.
  13. Given that Josh is 25, he has five years left at his peak. We'd want something more. We've stated 8 years minimum left in them. Package him with Parker and I'd sign off in a second.
  14. I know we will have trouble convincing talent to come on board, but this would be a mediocre return for mine, given we have pick #2. I'd love to have Parker, but I'd want someone else packaged with him. I'd throw some coin at Smith and look at doing a trade with our pick in the early 20s or the Sylvia compo pick, but Parker and Smith for #2 is not something I'd do. I stated this in another thread, but I'd float Kennedy and Parker for #2 and then look to pick up Smith with a later pick.
  15. Josh Kennedy and another player (Rohan or Jetta ideally, but unlikely) for pick 2. I'd want more back than just Kennedy, given that he's 25. He won't have those 8 eights left in him. Kennedy and Parker is dream scenario, but never going to happen. I'd float the latter though.
  16. Weren't you the poster saying we were in box-seat to land Shuey, Demoneyes?
  17. Well, that's the thing. The ability to bomb it in long if need be to a contested situation and it to be marked or at the very least brought to the ground is vital in a close final.
  18. We'll see, I guess. I'm not convinced they can win one without a forward who can really get the job done. I don't think they have one right now. The Lyon game plan is still quite defensive and that works for a side that doesn't have a true powerhouse forward, get in a KPF and I reckon they'd be well on their way.
  19. It's difficult to judge the forwards, but we can judge them on defensive pressure and general work rate. I'll be fascinated to see how our midfield plays next year. Even if we fail to add any new B graders/A grade potentials through trading or FA. How will we structure up, how will we spread, how will we block etc? A much higher work rate will be expected in that area of the ground, but indeed right across the park. With stability up the ground, we might find our defence finds its mojo too. Imagine Frawley and Garland defending limited forward 50 entries. If we can then limit our turn overs coming out of defensive 50, all of a sudden we become a really hard team to score against. If we can get some consistent AFL footballers, with good disposal to hit targets out of the backline, I'd expect our defence to turn into a weapon. They'd rebound strongly and set up attacks from back there. Having a midfield resembling an AFL standard one is a salivating prospect, given our talent at either end of the ground.
  20. Where does West Coast sit in the hatred rankings? I don't live in WA, so I never have to deal with it on the same level, but I've never really felt either way about Freo. They're always that pitiful purple club in my mind. Further, they've had less success than even us since their inception. West Coast hatred I can understand, but the Purple People? I'd just pat them on the head. The more I think about it, the more I begin to wonder whether Lyon's coaching style can win the ultimate prize. His teams have absolutely crumbled in big finals.
  21. Is that Janesch from Adelaide, the guy that was born in SA or another one? Would be thrilled with Shuey. Gun line-breaker and a decent disposer.
  22. That would be a massive win for West Coast. An injury prone former #1 draft pick, a middle of the road midfielder & Tom Boyd. Meanwhile, GWS would be getting a marketing tool, but an injury prone inconsistent player, who rarely plays four quarters. Not surprised it's come from Facebook.
