  1. I'm sure this has been mentioned, but think it deserves a re-mention. Another failed attempt by Ross Lyon. His teams always stumble near the final hurdle. He'll never win a flag. I like it.
  2. I wouldn't say no to Gaff of course, but I've gotta admit that if he was the 'big fish', I'd be disappointed.
  3. Wow. So four pages today of tedious ping pong.
  4. I'm hoping Nash has another shower. Maybe that'll help get him over the line?
  5. Lol. As has been said, why would they get rid of Dawes if they've only signed Pedersen for one year?
  6. Yeah, I meant AND. I'd argue there's a bit of risk in it from our end too. Prestia is coming off a knee injury and Bennell could well blow up in a year or two and go off the rails. I think it's a pretty fair trade and there's a chance Gold Coast go from their vice captain seeking a trade, to potentially winning the trade if pick 6 turns out to be a goodie.
  7. If Prestia requested a trade I think they'd jump at a top 10 pick. They wouldn't be happy about it, but it's better compensation than Adelaide'll probably get. I'd take Brad. Think I'd prefer to back Toumpas for another year or two over Matt.
  8. I don't disagree with you about whether Dawes is value for his money or not, mate. All I'm saying is that Pedersen signing a one year deal has very little to do with Dawes.
  9. It gives them both motivation to grab that number 2 spot next to Hogan or risk having their careers cut short by a couple of years. I can't say for sure this is the thinking behind offering Pedersen the one year deal, but if it is, it's a nice strategy, IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if we target a KPF at the end of 2016. We'll need to. I could see our first pick going out the window. That is if we can land one or two A grade mids this off season.
  10. I don't think so at all. I'm not quite sure how you can say Pedersen getting a one year deal reflects badly on Dawes. I think you're the one drawing the long bow. It's more likely to mean Dawes is rated incredibly highly internally and that Pedersen is merely back up at this stage, otherwise surely he would have got a two or three year deal instead...
  11. Took a cracker down in front of me at Simmonds earlier in the year. Took two really good marks that day. Reckon he took 10 to 15 really strong marks all year. Says a great deal, unfortunately.
  12. I don't listen to SEN. Is Anderson known for having any genuine insights/inside information or does he just speculate and report his opinion as fact? He certainly wouldn't be alone. I get the feeling quite a few of them do it.
  13. I'd be quite happy to trade Watts and Howe for pick 6, Prestia and Bennell. If we got a second rounder back, we'd be sitting pretty.
  14. Particularly agree about this one, mate. Bringing qualification down from 8 years to 6 is fair too. I'm usually for the unions, but the AFLPA have slowly compromised the competition in a big, big way in the last five years.
  15. Derps. No, I probably just missed it. Apologies. What was that about not drinking?
  16. We were never going to find a trade suitor for Pedersen. I haven't seen the stats, but I'd be interested to see who had the better scoring stats. Would prefer Pedersen in my team most weeks over Dawes.
  17. Would love Roosy to head up our academy and McCartney head development.
  18. He's clearly in the B team over at FOX, so not quite sure where this comes from. He lacks insight, he struggles to keep his bias out of his commentary and he's got a face for radio, not TV.
  19. Not sure he's any slower than Dawes. He takes marks, leads with relative conviction and kicks it pretty well. Ultimately, it's a one year deal. A good signing for mine.
  20. Good post. You're on the right track. I like the procurement of Prestia & Bennell/O'Meara. I think you're forgetting or underrating Tyson. Reckon he'll bounce back hard next year, provided he gets a good run at it this pre-season. Land even one of those aforementioned guys, a number of our guys have good pre-seasons and we may just hit the ground running next season and win 12-14 games. FWIW, I think we'll win between 10-12 games. But as I say, if everything clicks (admittedly unlikely), 12-14 games and finals are not unreasonable. The Bulldogs have shown that this year. Still think we're at least a year behind the Bulldogs' 2015 though. Hogan winning some games off his own boot may catch us up a little bit to the Bulldogs though. How's that for a post? No red wine in me. Just a sharwama and coconut water! EDIT. I wrote it like I was drunk though.
  21. I can believe we offered 1.5. Have to pay overs, particularly for stars. EDIT. And with the cap seemingly increasing every year. That won't be much in three or four years time.
  22. I think if he'd been signed to a three year deal, that would have possibly said something for Dawes, but this one year deal actually says, "you'll be playing second string, unless you prove your worth again". FWIW, I think he's actually a more damaging role player than Dawes.
