  1. Gerard's not always the most balanced commentator, but he's not as bad as some. However, the way he fawns over Geelong and in particular Dangerfield is sickening. Why aren't there more Mike Sheahan's about these days? I blame the advent of Eddie McGuire. His conflict of interest at 9 meant 'journalists' could then proudly show their footballing allegiances without anyone really questioning them. But the plight of journalist integrity is a discussion not even worth having. It's too far gone.
  2. They shouldn't rest him. I've done a bit of a u-turn myself and I reckon PD is spot on here. Brayshaw and Oliver stay. Hunt and Matt Jones are the unlucky ones for mine. Gus and Clarry have too much class to leave out, even if they are playing minimal game time. Gus regularly creates goals and Oliver could be really important if it becomes tight in the clearances. Ultimately, we're bringing in Vince and Garlett to make the team better. If we're leaving out Gus and Oliver or 'resting' them, we are not making the team better.
  3. Who'd want Hinkley if he was sacked at this point though? From the outside, he seems to lack a B Plan.
  4. This was my initial fear as well, but I don't think Roos would undermine his legacy at Melbourne by going elsewhere.
  5. I'll admit I haven't seen Petracca in the flesh yet, but if he's at the level of Oliver, that's exciting enough for me. Clarry is the most exciting player in a Melbourne jumper since Hogan. But I can really get excited by Clarry, because I know he'll stick around. Until Jesse signs that long term deal, Clarry is the most exciting Melbourne player out there. Cannot wait to see Petracca play given all the hype surrounding him. I have been disappointed before by hyped Melbourne youngsters in the past though.
  6. Really looking to see Viney back up this week. He might find he has more attention this week, but either way, we need him to stand up again. When he and Gawn were down against Essendon, the whole team suffered. They are our barometer players now and there's no reason why Viney can't break a tag if he gets one.
  7. 35m out directly in front. He should have kicked it. I thought he'd nail it too, because he has become a good clutch goal kicker. Suspect he probably thought we were safe.
  8. Disagree. I reckon Salem has the potential to be an absolute gun, but there's no getting around it. That was a poor effort. He went to ground, because the tackle or the intent to tackle wasn't strong enough.
  9. I cannot wait for the day that he moves onto a wing permanently or rotates between half forward and the midfield. I had hoped that with Vince back there that would allow Salem to be released into the midfield, but he probably doesn't have the fitness or trust in his body yet to play a midfield role. And as a team, we probably don't have enough depth across half back to have the luxury of playing him there either at the moment. Perhaps, later this season or early 2017 we'll see Salem injected into the midfield?
  10. I think there's a different feeling around at the moment. Even what's coming out of the club and the way the players reacted to the Collingwood win. There are subtle signs that we've turned the corner. I'm not saying we'll necessarily beat Richmond, because if they bring their best footy, that'll be really tough to combat, but if they don't bring their best, I reckon we'll win and win by 5-7 goals.
  11. Ultimately, our new zonal defence will be fighting Riewoldt, so Tommy won't be battling alone.
  12. Wouldn't mind Kelly off half back to release Salem into the middle though.
  13. Wasn't sure where to put this, but Robbo at his usual pathetic best. No handle on the game at all. His answer to Collingwood's woes is to play more kids. They're already playing all their kids, you knucklehead! He thinks they've gotta get guys who can kick it. It's not about who can kick, we've got blokes like McDonald, who cannot kick, but the systems around them support their skill level. Buckley has to implement systems for 2016, not 2015. That's their problem. Wake up Robbo, you drunk.
  14. I reckon he might have 7 to this point.
  15. I think it's more that he's unsure how to play the stay at home role. We needed him to play the focal role up inside 50, so he stayed there, but found little space to lead in to. Since he's been given licence to roam and play CHF, he's clearly not hamstrung by second guessing where he should be and he's a lot clearer on his role. If the Weed is half as good and can bag his 2 or 3 goals, along side Watts, Kent, Garlett and a goal-kicking resting mid, we will have an extremely potent forwardline. One word: exciting. Thank you, PJ, Roosy and Jason Taylor.
  16. Nope, unfortunately it makes perfect sense at that rag. How he graduated from high school and managed to get a journalism degree is beyond me though.
  17. Viney's become pretty good at it too. Would love Mr Miyagi to try it on Viney. McDonald.
  18. Watching the replay last night, Kent was actually first into him.
  19. I thought we got a very good go to be honest.
  20. Yep, it's incredible that we have one two guys that barely play more than 50% of the match and we don't get shown up on the spread. It has to be a testament to our more mature players' fitness that they can cover these guys. Don't listen to Dave Misson on the injury front, but he appears to be working wonders in his actual job.
  21. Because our blokes are making options for him instead of standing still...
  22. This might be controversial and I love his attack on the footy and the man, but I reckon VDB is a depth player. He was vital last year with his attack and toughness, but now we have everyone playing that way. His disposal isn't strong enough and he doesn't get it enough. A handy depth player, but should make his way back via Casey. If his performances demand a recall then great, otherwise he gets his next game on the back of injury.
  23. Lumumba? Really? Have people watched the last two weeks? He is so important for our run off half back.
