  1. Your being blinded by stats, like games played. If Coleman was judged that way, he wouldn't anything more than a good ordinary footballer. Which is what ANB & Tyson are at present. Rodney was much better than that, and yes he missed a stack of games, but he swung a lot of wins our way, as well. Lockett missed a stack of games. Brereton lost a stack of games. Dipper as well. Greg Williams. Jonathon Brown early days.
  2. aren't the words interesting as an overlay.
  3. that is true swyl just as you don't. So obviously I'm talking about their games played. Not how many, but the influence they have in the games they play. That's how I determine their effectiveness. I'm not voting like a best & fairest,,,,, as that desn't win games or Premierships. I'm talking about doing things for the team to win matches, and sacrifice acts. etc, team acts. Grinter is a great player of that era, and of Melbourne. not "the Greats" not the "LEGENDS", but a great of Melbourne. and of that afl era.
  4. as effective, yes i do.
  5. tata little boy. I thought you were more mature last time I witnessed you, but you regressed some how? your age going backwards. how do you do that?
  6. Grinter is the equal of all of them, in terms of effectiveness. Only Lyon was slightly higher, in SOO games. at least for a couple of seasons, anyway. Neita not quite as good as Lyon. But played in a lesser quality team, compared to what the younger Lyon had. Love or popularity, doesn't equate to great or not great, as a footballer.

and this is the danger period. Thinking we are better then we really are. "getting ahead" is not all its cracked out to be. Its often a negative thing.

Bevo is rebuilding again, after their season from hell. At least they got that flag, breaking the drought. but it came at a cost.
  9. name your greats of melbourne.
  10. thats it. Its not about this week, until 3 weeks before finals.
  11. they should never have bothered you. Yes Rod was a great player. He held his own in company of Peter Moore, Jimmy Jess, David Cloke, Rhys-Jones, what else do you want. He wasn't Tony Lockett or Jonathon Brown. You seem to be a bit off in your judgements. Actually thinking less of Grinter, amongst these players of the day.
  12. so you respond on behalf of prodee?
  13. Rod was an excellent player, a great player. Not one of the all time AFL greats. Again reading too much into it. I didn't call him a legend. I called him a great Melbourne player. As Stynes was, as Sean wight was, as Greg Healey was. as Yeater was.
  14. are you prodee rgrs.
  15. No one is glorifying anything. I think your reading too much into all this. thru 2018 lenses. Wallace's comments are designed to aid us. not against us. he's not barracking for the Crows. He's a Melbourne supporter, or was. People overreacting to media stuff, is really just getting sucked into all the spin. People oughta think more often about the reverse psychology, instead of immediately jumping into fight/flight mode, over the club. We want the crows to go lever, to go the man. We want that. ... let them try. and really steel ourselves.
  16. you've got no idea. have you.
  17. You were just a kid, too young, to remember his games that well.
  18. He might miss next week instead ? If the ground is rock hard, it won't do him any good with that toe joint issue. They want to get him to the Bye round but I hope he doesn't aggravate this again. If he aggravated this issue again, it may well end up costing him fitness in the 2nd half of the season. This is what I want to avoid. I want our main key players all fully fit after the bye,, running into September.
  19. No sssue with that.. it was crude. But I will never put Rodney down for his efforts to try to get a longtime passive club to fire up, and learn to fight fire with fire, in a tough competition. We were all sick and tired of being the beaten up boys. Grinter is a great of afl, and Melbourne. I'm sure if you learnt of many stories of 2nd world war time, you may be disgusted by these as well. But sometimes it is, what it is,,, of the time; something that was just done; that way. It would not be tolerated today, and shouldn't be. But I do not agree with the holier than thou PC, creeping into our game these days.
  20. There seems to be some camaraderie there at Casey, because some past Casey teams may have folded with many players unavailable. I think maybe the coach is doing well.
  21. Hi Doc32. maybe it would be worthwhile to send this sentiment to both parties (Wbd & Saty), in order of fairness, instead of just the retaliator. one is a serial pest. He simply has to get better with the footy. He is being overtaken by young kids atmo. We want Tyson to get better, but his run pace and disposal have not improved much, since he arrived. I have him in the Bugg territory. Both have to use the ball much better. Tyson's list spot is in danger, unless he can do something to reinvent his game.
  22. We need Pedo for 2019. The tall utility. back forward ruck. our insurance policy.
  23. who, where's the away strip ? ?
  24. Marvel, or Martian ? Apparently the AFL are looking into a clear Perspex styled Domed Roof. Should make Marvin (Gill) very 'appy.
