  1. That is all good and I agrree with sentiment BUT, this is not the best place to Grow this club. This whole exercise is nothing to do with History,,, and is meant to be all about growing the club again. Yarra Park Nth, is too far off the track, for daily punters. Revenue going to waste, leaving from Richmond Station. .
  2. My thesis if that's what you want to call it, is about the rest of our season, and us being in good condition. Not about the Darwin game. But about selections this week for the rest of our season. Key players will need to be fully fit, and NOT sapped by Darwin's conditions. Maxy Is one of our Key players, especially after his 11 mark game last week.. we don't need him this week, because of the Darwin conditions. So this is the best way to keep him fresh. And we are only 8 weeks out from finals, so his condition needs to be kept healthy. We can rotate 3 or 4 through the ruck this week if we want to. Not including Maxy.
  3. Simple, so we don't continue to be inbred, Re our development. Outside footy people coming into our system, will notice the differences, and hopefully be able to pick the failings, compared to winning ways they have experienced at their former clubs. They will hopeful recognise these idiosyncrasies that don't work well for us and then change them to improve us. Same for Off-Field, Re Admin and Boards. So no, we don't want our old boys, coaching the new boys. We are NOT a power club, and have not been for 5 decades.
  4. You got it wrong again Timbo. The thesis, (what a stupid word for footy) is about performing well after Darwin (against Doggies) and the following games. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - NOW I don't think we'll lose at all in Darwin; I think we'll win this week; and also, I think for Darwin games, we Should bring in a few players, so as to rest players from this DARWIN games humidity,,, because the problems with the humidity and the dehydrating effects, carry over for nearly a fortnight. It is the opportune time to bring in players while we rest some against the dehydration, for our seasons well-being. Especially this week, as Vandenberg and McKenna are coming back to play for Casey. They need the spots open. So we have Pedo in great form, Dec Keilty, Frost, Stretch, Spargo is ready again, Garlett, Baker, Vince... although I wonder if its best to bring Vince back in fresh,,, after the Darwin game. Bring Vince in fresh for Rnd 17_ as we will be needing fresh runners for the Doggies. Our team will be a bit sluggish following Darwins heat & humidity. And Lewis may be ready for a rest at this time, against the Dogs.
  5. We don't need to win the taps in Darwin, as the ball will be mostly on the Dek during the course of the game anyway. What we do need is more running power with agility, and that suits Pedo, TMc, Frost, and Weide in the ruck. I think Weide will do very well in this role, if we maintain him. Do you not think we need fresh players for the games after Darwin ? IMO, we need to save some players from this game so they're fresh the weeks after. So I think we will bring in a number of fresh faces this week. Q/? on Gawn, if the selectors will show the balls to do that? IN's for me are: Stretch, Frost, Deck, Spargo, Garlett, Baker. Unsure Re Vince whether to bring him in for Darwin, or the following week against those Bullies. Keep Lewis in this week, with the young defence. Before resting him against the Dogs. Vince will play against the Doggies.
  6. Its a recipe for developing the club from where we've come from, to where we are now. I don't know about your personal development thingy, but I do know something about the rebuilding of a list. And the culture of.
  7. loaded, I don't think so? No, what I'm getting at is that watts and garlett both suffer the similar weaknesses. And both are feeling the same treatment in response. So I think the writing is on the wall for any on our list, that don't like to, or won't put the head in, when its required.
  8. To me It depends on circumstances. Jetta has had some heavy collisions this year, to both body, and to his head. Oscar I'm unaware of his hits. But TMc and Viney & Maxy, were concerns last year, and IMO we rushed them back to soon last year,,, which impacted them well into the start of this 2018 season. The flow on of a strong fitness base from one season into the next, is a fantastic thing. But also the flow on of injuries from one season into the next season, is just as opposing. This week I really hope we rest some including, our tallest. Having them refreshed for the next game.
  9. Everything in time RL. There is an smart order for things to happen, starting at station 1/ with the culture, and the physicality of the team ethos. Once that gets rolling and entrenched as a proud model, then move into next phase. If not, the old weak ways will still survive in the club. It's sort of like the finer skills come last, in building the temple. A topping off sort of stuff;,, and these finer skilled types have to be made to really earn their spots the hard way, so we do not forego the new physical culture.
  10. Of course they are, watts your point. DeGoey is a Mid and H/Fwrd with speed and X factor. Even if re-contracted he is the type we're lacking. Gaff is a distance runner who finds space and time, which allows him to be able to kick. But he won't find that same space as often, in big finals games. DeGoey doesn't require much time or space to be damaging. This is why he is more dynamic.
  11. It's not your glasses, OD. its your mind. You can only see what is before you, as in the past few seconds. Instead of being able to see what he's develop into,,, and the little progresses going on.. the finer points. You seem to have to be slapped with a wet fish, before you can see what it was. Now not all players continue to develop but this kid is just starting to because of his body well being, and size. And his age maturity amongst the big guys.
  12. Apparently May hasn't decided yet, since its early July. I would say the Clarko is into him.
  13. I sense we are more strongly committed to the game effort, when we feel our backs are to the wall. (subconsciously) When we start to feel more comfortable in our-selves and team, WE the Mfc (players and all,,, supporters as well) seem to lose some intensity and fire in the belly,,, and we feel the pressure when we're suddenly the hunted. Then we as a club, switch like a light-switch,,, into Victim mode. The atmosphere changes from being one of feisty-hunger, into an atmosphere of fear/anxiety and defensiveness. And we go into a negative mentality... Or reverse if you prefer. This mood swing is as bi-polar as Red and Blue are. It happens so often, that its normal for Mfc.
  14. It's not disrespect. It's smarter to play for the advantage of having the extra players for run and for agility,,, and better ball handling in the greasy conditions. Nothing to do with Max's fitness, but for a better result the following week with fresher players. We should be able to win in Darwin, and be better without Max in those conditions. We go in as a shorter side than normal, to suit. We shouldn't go into this game with marks as a benchmark,,,, we should go into it with Run, Agility, and control of the ball as the benchmark. We showed the past couple of weeks that we are down on our run. As well as pace. And its cost us.
  15. They certainly are mine, and I would hope that's fairly close to the clubs/teams.
  16. I'm not a gambler 'timbo', I don't bet on anything. no horses, no tattslotto, nada. But I do invest in things.
  17. Yes, he did, and he finally broke double figures for marks taken in a game; with 11 marks. finally. He had a great game, Maxy. How assured is Fritsch with the ball in hand.
  18. Yep, and he's only played 58 games;,,, so he and ANB are excellent endurance players, who will learn as the play. Still immature Re games played.
  19. I would play Tyson again this week up in Darwin, and then rest him after, IF he doesn't star up there. I would rest Petracca for Darwin;,, as I don't think his body shape suits the humid weather, and I think he won't recover as well as the others, following that game. Again, I would rest Maxy from Darwin, bringing him back fresh for the game after. I would go in with Pedo, Weide, and TMc as the rucks for Darwin. I would play Jeffy in Darwin for sure, as well as Spargo and Baker. .
  20. I sort of agree Nash. but I guess in this delicate situation only those inside would know the best Re his state. Also its Darwin at night, so the extra height is not needed in the conditions.
  21. his manager????
  22. We do need more endurance Wtm... BUT we NEED pace much much more. We have too many one paced types throughout... we need 2 or 3, quicker than one paced players, in our 22. Gaff as another endurance player, is way too expensive, just for the elite endurance. I would clearly have DeGoey ahead of a Gaff. We don't need the fastest and 2nd fastest players in the comp.... but we do need a few quick players, that have breakaway tow. more than anything else. And I do not subscribe to one dimensional quick's, like jeffy. They MUST be able to roll up the sleeves and dive under packs with a smile,,, as well as be a goer on the outside, when they're in that position.
  23. We win in the Alice as well.
  24. the value's are, you do whats is required, within what the team thinks acceptable. You Don't put in short steps, to miss the contest. You do tackle willingly. You do fly the team flag. You don't do things that bring the teams efforts undone. You do the defensive side of the game, when WE don't have the ball. You do run to spread. You do commit to mark off the ground when its yours to go. You don put the head over the footy being prepared to wear the hits. You do give every effort within your body. You do Not squib it. need I go on? Were you for or against Watts going last year, LH ?
  25. I'll bet my jocks they play finals this year. I'll go jock free all week, in the week we may miss-out,,, IF we do.? Your right about the lack of speed,,, but very wrong about Lewis's importance to our growth and development. He has been and is very important to the club and list. As is, has been, Bernie. We would be a much stronger side this year IF we recruited Rockliff last season. And we could have traded Tyson then. Or swapped. Lewis is not the speed problem. Every team carries some slower players, as long as they add to the team in other ways. Same deal for fast players, speed is not enough on its own. see Hunt Frost and Garlett. They have to add other strengths to what they bring, or they will be a liability.
