_ the Toumpas decision sticks in the throat... after years of poor decisions at the draft table, recruiting soft players... one after the next, in line. how many times cam a club continue to make the same mistakes, in the same mannner ????????

my impressions Dr: Addam Maric: I thought he was going to be the small forward we needed at the time but never really fired a shot. Why? imo he was too self-conscious... introverted. lacked self belief. Tapscott: He was one of my favourite players at the time but only played 48 games. Injury? Speed? lacked ??? Bate: Right from his first game I always found his kicking to be awkward but everyone was saying he was our next Pavlich due to his size and playing in the midfield. What happened? Lack of skills, maybe speed? lacked speed. didn't have good enough hands to support his slowness, came into a rotten club and suffered from the start with injuries, came into a soft cultured club with poor direction. Strauss: Horrific leg injury amongst others. Elite kicking but never fired a shot at afl level. Competitiveness? lacked self belief. Blease: had skills and pace to burn but also didn't get out of the gates. What was it? Lack of competitiveness? lacked self belief and focus. Cale Morton: Pick 4. Got it wrong. I think we tried to get fancy with this pick. He was just very weak in the contest I suppose. lacked hunger for the contest. Gysberts: Always found the ball but then before I knew it, he was out of favour and out the door. Skills? a soft cult Lucas Cook: God help us. Nice kick but was slow and looked asleep half of the time at vfl level or even vfl reserves level. lacked ??? Jack Grimes: Made it as a co-captain so this may be a tad harsh but what happened to him? His decision making was always a bit iffy and his kicking out of the backline was always quite costly but he tried hard and was a good overhead mark but he would have to almost be the record holder for the quickest captain to delisting time frame. lacked speed. came into a rotten club and suffered from the start with injuries, and for someone with a loving nature, came into a soft cultured club with poor direction. Jimmy Toumpas: I was stoked when we got this guy at the draft. He had neat skills, a clever mover around the ground and a bit of personality about him. What was his downfall? Speed? Size? Competitiveness? imo he was too self-conscious... introverted. lacked self belief.

Different weather conditions effect people in different ways... I cannot stand warmth with high humidity;,, it causes me to sweat, and I get irritated with discomfort. However I can tolerate 49 degrees without freaking out. I don't like it but can manage apart from sleeping. I would take the 49 degrees dry heat,,,, over 26 degrees and high humidity any day. I'm a cold weather person, preferring temperatures around 15 - 24 degrees as my ideal. So I'm NOT any sort of reptilian in habits.

why not use an emoticon, to guide the reader? Text carries no subtlety or colour for me to find. as in life... I need it spelt out... as a friend once said to me. ("do you want it spelt out") my answer was, "YES". This is why I speak plain and straight... And yes, I have a great sence of humour and fun, but subtle words leave me without meaning or understanding... Words have far too many meanings,,, and since I've learnt to not live by assumptions; I find indirect language a barrier to understanding; as words can mean so many things. .

.... and a Friday Game, prior to that one, even if not Free2Air 2 Thursday night games, either side of the Anzac Eve match,,, just for 2019 would work, I reckon.

Why do thew want to dig the whole deeper all the time... ....... instead of just back peddling and undo the things that got us into this mess. They don't even have to change the number of rotations,,,, at least to start with. It's really BLOODY simple. Just reduce the interchange to 3 players and 1 sub for 2019... and then to a 2 man interchange with 2 subs for the 2020 season. So clean and simple, with no new regulations, laws, interpretations, or any other bloody mess. Are you LISTENING AFL ???????? ..... stop fu@&ing up the game with more rules,,,, and just do a little backpedaling. .
-
'timbo', I know your not as simple as you try to make out when you have no argument, but trying to play dumb is not the way to be manly. We are beggars. not choosers; and we also have an obligation like other clubs, to benefit this game. Our is in the NT. others are into Tassy, some Qld. We are attempting to grow relationships with the Casey region, and the Sth East. As well as the Alice. We cannot have all the cake to ourselves, and eat it all, as well. Even if we are aligned to the mcc. We cannot be that spoiled to think only about ourselves, or themselves. We have to contribute to the games greater needs. So you know the clubs HQ should not be in Alice; or anywhere but Melbourne. Gosch's is ideal.

I think this is right, they're out of fashion, these days. No excitement about them. To stir footy vibes across the AFL. It's not they're players... its the club. They're struggling for relevance within the AFL competition.

He'll be able to adapt, but it will take him time to learn new habits. the good thing is change is apon us after this end of season and open spaces will happen more often in next few seasons. So Hunty is a keeper IMO, for this reason. And while we're waiting for the rule changes, he must continue to learn to lower his eyes at Casey,,, for his running, and then his kicking.

Don't you mean a Cyril type. When has eddie of jeffy ever 'brought down' a big dog ? 2 are inferred stars, the other is the real deal.
-
high profile is thin on the ground. ... especially in these days when Drafts & Flooding reigns They've gotta start/look somewhere.
-
every club is desperate. but you were querying 'method'. Without 'desperation', there is no winning. 'Desperation' is not a shame... it's a privilege. a sign of desire. a want, a longing. Are you suggesting that Melbourne most times, does not have desperation ?

Past seasons we've been on free to air. Alice was free2air. I don't watch foxtel, unless its put on in front of me. I will never; never pay, for TV !!! ..... if free2air dies, my record and DVD collection beckon, as will my little boat. and the garden.
-
So they're hoping for profile players. This seems to be the method... Broaden your thoughts, look outside 'your prism', to find the understanding. _ there is ALWAYS reason. What is it you don't see here?
-
So a trade would need to be done? He tells them he intends to come home, and they might start to think of offers?
-
They want/need a profile players, to attract attention, public interest. Also they need to park some salary cap somewhere, as they try to increase leadership on their list. they can't over pay underdeveloped kids. Where do they go when over-payed-underdeveloped kids, improve; and want more??? Also they need more interest from the footy world. I wonder if they are becoming more irrelevant in Melbourne ?

We've been winning at Docklands since last year I think, because of our contested ball winners, and our ability to defend and 2 way running. We've won at Alice Springs and Darwin. And the follow up game. It's not all about revenue for the club. - - - - - - - - - - But it is about exposure on TV. To attract new supporters and Kids. And it helps break public perception of a white-Australia elitist sort of club. Which we need to do. The club has drifted away, over the past 50 odd years, from being an open club, to be too heavily focused on members and elitism's. This needs to stop, because its a roadblock to many Aussies. And new Australians, and Our Original 1st people Australians. IMO as we've become an easy beat team over the decades;,,, we've gradually lost our 'Outer' Fan base of normal Aussies... and only held our rusted on members mainly in the North,,, like the Mcc. This inturn effects all the Board decisions taken over the past 50 years... as the majority of directors have Mcc approval and references from our very own high profile supporters who frequent that establishment. This inturn does not help to Re-grow our outer fan base,,, by reopening the club to allow access to the outer fans. This desired exclusivity is just that..... exclusionary.
-
Yeah, like spending the past 50 years playing in Melbourne has proven so successful for us. We ought to protest at these away games
-
Hasn't anyone heard of sprinklers, and doing some ground maintenance,,,, instead of just manicuring the grass?
-
He's a development coach, to develop young players, whilst that club manages the list (drafting). - - - - - - Now; what chance that Carlton entered into an agreement with the Crows last end of season, involving the Gibbs deal, the 2018 national draft and Lukosius. Will the Crows trade picks to Carlton, for Pick 1 of the 2018 NAB draft ?

who gives a chuck, when a nuckhead ducks.

Mono; the fatigue from the Darwin game, can be turned into an advantage to us. IF, we got the week off after Darwin, in Late July... that is the perfect rest, leading us into the run of games, to the finals. This can be an advantage to us.

The words are not for the players; they are for the supporters and interested people. even opponents. It's the players who are starting to set the tone on-field,,, following all the coaches and assistant coaches since Roosy. He's relaying where we are at to those who care.
