what you think he should be lethargic or something ? yeah, as some sort of proof of illness. its a known fact that being worn down will increase the risk for infections and illness. He has got a huge frame to push around, every week on his own, in the ruck. so playing a person in that position in ultra-high humid conditions, will take it out of people. That leaves them vulnerable for health issues. No one can say for certain whether the Darwin game contributed at all to Max getting ill... My point. is he didn't need to play that game. As I said at the time ahead of Darwin... 'We need Max fit and firing after Darwin, in the run for September'. .

He was quoting our midfield soldiers. The ball distributors. Not the other positions.

That's right, and this is why Sloane was important for us, as he's a top-liner in that 27Yr bracket. Too late now, didn't happen. But we do need to recruit a mature hardened top player in his prime, around 27Yrs. Preferably one who plays on-ball. ... Gaff does not give me the sense that he can fill this leadership void.
  5. The LAST thing we need now;, is more inexperience. With the injuries we have now to senior players, if we select Keilty this week, I think that equals giving up. Pedo has to come in to steady the defence.

Are the eagles trying to push Gaff out ? You'd think they would be wanting stars to stay on... Would have thought. .

Not burnt out, sick. He should not have played, and lost condition up in Darwin. He's not burnout mentally. But he should have been rested. Just like marathon runners were not allowed to race too many times in a year. Loss of condition makes people sick.

... again, I reiterate, Maxy should not have played up in Darwin. Should have been rested. Yes he played well in Darwin, but we didn't need him there. Now we need him, and he struggled... He's a lone hand in the ruck, and should not been exerted in that Northern humidity.

... can't play JKH and Spargo beside one another. Pedo gives us size down back, and some better kicking rebound 50. And chop-out Max in ruck, allowing Max to slide forward more often. I'd like to see Frost tried on the wing, (TMc's role) sweeping from the wing; with Pedo back, & TMc more forward ? Garlet half-forward. lucky to be in the side. I've also been wondering about Hannan,,, as a swingman... learning to play as a defender. mobile, agile, speed, and great tackler. OK kick.
  10. It was 'the curse',,, that took Norm. SWYL. First, it entered the building, and then systematically destroyed what Percy Paige brought across with him,,, to Melbourne. Percy Page DOB: Unknown. Died: 1986. Honours: Life Member MFC Hall of Fame - 2006 Melbourne coach Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes guided Melbourne to the 1948 premiership — a 39-point win over Essendon in a grand final replay after a thrilling draw in the first meeting. Four Demon greats: (l-r): Hughes, Ron Barassi, Norm Smith, John Beckwith. The fire... was put out by 'the curse'. .... a curse by no other name, just PC. It works like wood-rot. Eating away and softening all structures, turning them to soft pulp. It continues to Flare-up again & again, following treatment; from spores blown around in the air. .

I know what you say, and I thought the same last year,,, and I think we said the same about ANB a couple of seasons back, and also Harmes to a slight lesser extent, a couple years back. Also Jones, TMc, OMc, Pedo, Weide, Gawnus went under the radar a few seasons back... I think the club holds more faith long term in JKH than we all do. And they haven't done a hell of a lot wrong in the past few seasons (Fritsch). SO i'm watching with baited breadth, to see where JKH and Stretch, and pozzibly CWagner, Lockhart, etc, end up and take us to? Apart from spending too much here and there, on players. .

A few of our players got burnt by teammates not looking, yesterday. And Jeffy was burnt by JKH, who blazed away, skying a ball thru the points. Jeffy would have walked into goal on that occasion. Strong run, hard work. Not, too bad, for one game. Could have been better, could have been worse. But no consolation for Hibberd.
  13. nah, still blank, Mr Bee. I get 2.5 lines of text in the OP... the 3rd line is top half of text sentence only... the letters all are missing their pants. mozilla...

Too simplistic, Grimes was not the player he could have been, say at the hawks. He would have turned out very different, if they developed him.

And many said the Giants would be the basket case.... and the Suns would thrive and take all premierships for the next 5 years or so. One had a Wily old Fox at the helm, and the other were all classy champs that never were. Whilst we were building dynasties;,,, and gloating, after chucking away our hardest workers as NQR's.... and kept on the pretty boys and sweety puss's. We let go our best hardest honest leaders retiring one early;,,,, kept the mirror finished boys and the next door boy. We were smart enough that we would hire first time coaches to go hand in hand with all that newbie talent. and Voila!!!! '''' "oh' Mr Hart,,,, Watta mess" ... funny thing was, we had a chance for that Wily old Fox to come to us, and we Ambushed him through our Spy networks, and hiding in Wheely Bins. Watta mess Mr Hart.... and Watta waste it was, sending zillions of dollars and 10 years of work to the tip, on wheels. .

We're best in the past, when we are underdog. When confident of winning we get arrogant & we seem to become 'frontrunners mentally'. and stop the hard work. play like millionaires. Why so often in the past, has this club sought to be arrogant and soft ? I hope Goodwin continues to stop this rubbish, from entering the group.

_ the Toumpas decision sticks in the throat... after years of poor decisions at the draft table, recruiting soft players... one after the next, in line. how many times cam a club continue to make the same mistakes, in the same mannner ????????

my impressions Dr: Addam Maric: I thought he was going to be the small forward we needed at the time but never really fired a shot. Why? imo he was too self-conscious... introverted. lacked self belief. Tapscott: He was one of my favourite players at the time but only played 48 games. Injury? Speed? lacked ??? Bate: Right from his first game I always found his kicking to be awkward but everyone was saying he was our next Pavlich due to his size and playing in the midfield. What happened? Lack of skills, maybe speed? lacked speed. didn't have good enough hands to support his slowness, came into a rotten club and suffered from the start with injuries, came into a soft cultured club with poor direction. Strauss: Horrific leg injury amongst others. Elite kicking but never fired a shot at afl level. Competitiveness? lacked self belief. Blease: had skills and pace to burn but also didn't get out of the gates. What was it? Lack of competitiveness? lacked self belief and focus. Cale Morton: Pick 4. Got it wrong. I think we tried to get fancy with this pick. He was just very weak in the contest I suppose. lacked hunger for the contest. Gysberts: Always found the ball but then before I knew it, he was out of favour and out the door. Skills? a soft cult Lucas Cook: God help us. Nice kick but was slow and looked asleep half of the time at vfl level or even vfl reserves level. lacked ??? Jack Grimes: Made it as a co-captain so this may be a tad harsh but what happened to him? His decision making was always a bit iffy and his kicking out of the backline was always quite costly but he tried hard and was a good overhead mark but he would have to almost be the record holder for the quickest captain to delisting time frame. lacked speed. came into a rotten club and suffered from the start with injuries, and for someone with a loving nature, came into a soft cultured club with poor direction. Jimmy Toumpas: I was stoked when we got this guy at the draft. He had neat skills, a clever mover around the ground and a bit of personality about him. What was his downfall? Speed? Size? Competitiveness? imo he was too self-conscious... introverted. lacked self belief.

Different weather conditions effect people in different ways... I cannot stand warmth with high humidity;,, it causes me to sweat, and I get irritated with discomfort. However I can tolerate 49 degrees without freaking out. I don't like it but can manage apart from sleeping. I would take the 49 degrees dry heat,,,, over 26 degrees and high humidity any day. I'm a cold weather person, preferring temperatures around 15 - 24 degrees as my ideal. So I'm NOT any sort of reptilian in habits.

why not use an emoticon, to guide the reader? Text carries no subtlety or colour for me to find. as in life... I need it spelt out... as a friend once said to me. ("do you want it spelt out") my answer was, "YES". This is why I speak plain and straight... And yes, I have a great sence of humour and fun, but subtle words leave me without meaning or understanding... Words have far too many meanings,,, and since I've learnt to not live by assumptions; I find indirect language a barrier to understanding; as words can mean so many things. .

.... and a Friday Game, prior to that one, even if not Free2Air 2 Thursday night games, either side of the Anzac Eve match,,, just for 2019 would work, I reckon.
  25. Why do thew want to dig the whole deeper all the time... ....... instead of just back peddling and undo the things that got us into this mess. They don't even have to change the number of rotations,,,, at least to start with. It's really BLOODY simple. Just reduce the interchange to 3 players and 1 sub for 2019... and then to a 2 man interchange with 2 subs for the 2020 season. So clean and simple, with no new regulations, laws, interpretations, or any other bloody mess. Are you LISTENING AFL ???????? ..... stop fu@&ing up the game with more rules,,,, and just do a little backpedaling. .
