  1. or Lachie Whitfield... even moreso.
  2. Look at the mess the players were are over there; so self centred. And some want to point the finger at McCartney... seriously, I know who I trust Re their judgement. And so say the former Geelong stars who wanted to go to work with Brendon. Maybe this was a club culture issue more, than anything?
  3. No it won't. Because once a poor team, it'll take 10Yrs + to become a good team, in the current state of the game.. Just another recipe for power clubs, and also-rans. Just like the past 50 years. And we're losing too many kids from Pro-Footy, because of all this over-professional state of the game... and the lack of space, so many skilled kids cannot operate in such little time and space. It should not be based on the ratings alone as this is merely the warning shot over the Bow. It is the actual people leaving the game, and saying so for many years.... that MUST be listened to. .
  4. Yep, I recall. I was disappointed when he left us. but we were a mess waiting to implode. lucky he did go at that time. Now is a much better time for incumbents.
  5. cheers 'Mah'. I like your long run up into the wind. and agree. Lockhart and CWagner, both interesting. Machaya, don't recall having seen him? exciting times.
  6. They probably did MSF; and then changed it back again before anyone realised... such is the AFL and rules of the game.
  7. I was just thinking exactly that fd. Lets nickname him 'SNAP'. He is already a GingerNut ?
  8. Cartoon were stuffing things up, the same time as we were. I like Ratten as well... But lets NOT upset the apple cart; for wish this, or wish that. Inner harmony is crucial to us. .
  9. Deemolition ! misspelling, SWYL ? .
  10. Whoa, lets not get too rough on the young person. This is getting a wee bit too personal.
  11. Just some fun with the old fashioned way. MR like these old fashioned ways excuse the burbler, jump the first 37 seconds.
  12. I'm not sure that all their players will be in the same mind frame. ???? It'll only take 2 being 'off', to effect their whole team.
  13. ... looks like 2 parts of the quaddie ?
  14. Maybe you needed more self-doubt growing up, so you could understand what its like, and also what its like for others. Only those who have conquered it themselves, maybe, truly understand this process. . Its very easy to right people off who are battling with inner demons/negatives,,, the processing mind-power the negatives devour from an individuals focus, can be huge. And unrealised.
  15. It will be interesting to see what GC do... how they come out. The flood gates in their minds may be open right now, so they may be all thinking of their furture's elsewhere; and sort of escapism's. Will be interesting to see who plays with heart. Also same with us, to see who of us have the killer instinct and who do not. This will be what we should be looking at/for... see who wants it most. .
  16. So do I. I want US to be more like Sheedy's Essendon sides, & doin' it to them. The old hawk sides of the time. We've been taken over by 3AW styled do-good'rs__ for 50Yrs... time is up. and time to pay & play... Les plaisirs démodés Work hard, play hard, and enjoy the pleasures from that. nobegyourpardons.
  17. Often you can see the lack of fluency in the players movement, at the ball, at the attempted mark, during the run in to kick, etc. Self doubt increase the rigidity, and causes skill errors. Ending in mental/confidence errors and poor performance. The negatives cause the player try too hard.... and in doing so, are not relaxed enough to allow the intuitive brain to guide the kick, and the weight of kick. Intuition is blocked..... by the player trying so hard to over-control the outcome. .
  18. Actaully Dms56, I think we NEED the rough edges..... as it inspires that old adrenaline in the crowd ! and the umpires,,, well they just follow the crowd. Being sickly polite is whats killed us for a half a century. Northey instilled an aggression into our players that got US close..... but he didn't instill that into OUR crowd. And some of Our crowd were embarrassed by too much aggression. This IS the Curse. Our own embarrassment of aggression.... & in your face aggression. is what got Norm,,, and what got us... all of this time. We became so conservative, we lost that, 'Checker and Smith', 'Fire and Brimstone'. And it was this soft attitude that sacked Smithy... The beginning of the end wasn't Smithy, it was the attitude that had taken over again that sacked Smith. It was Percy and Checker whom imported the fire and brimstone To Melbournefc, who were a conservative club, up till they arrived. With the world change in the 60's,,, and throughout world sport... we went the other way, deep into our conservative-ness behind the scenes. We did not move ahead, in-sync with the world.
  19. The majority is in the mind, and learning to trust yourself more. Accepting that you might make mistakes, or fail, is liberating; and helps the self belief taking the monkey away. Via removing most of the negatives in ones mind. ... the acceptance takes the power/weight away from the negatives. .
  20. The Crows appear to be front runners, like we were once upon a time this century. They open up like a kebab in foil. Lets not get too carried away with those entries last week after halftime. We have to have composure and vision; wide vision, to see all opportunities. and the players to placer the ball where we need it. I worry about Jeffy, he's a bit of front runner as well... likes to have the ball out on his own. We'll miss Spargo, if he rests. He is a distributor. But he needs a spell, to come back sharp.
  21. hmmn, 50+ Yrs ago... We need to find another recipe for success, because the culture we've used, has failed us for sooooo long.
  22. Our weakness is the way we bring the ball into 50, so Jeffy should be able to help in that mid area of the ground, and maybe find someone his own size to tackle??? maybe. .
  23. The perfect recipe to destroy smaller clubs... and then the competition. More short-sighted visual media execs. .
