Fitness is atrocious, skills poor, transition between the arcs non existent. No football nouse. We'll be lucky to win 5 games this year. The Goodwin gameplan is rubbish. It's a slow death with ageing players. New coach and fresh start needed for 2026.

I think they got tunnel vision on that pick 9 trade. Gave Bombers way too many picks. Will probably come back to haunt us when/if trying to split pick 9. Pick 9 is great but shocking negotiating on our end.

Correct. Yet if you have massive racism issues like Pies or Hawks, no culture issues to speak of. Mainstream footy media is [censored] weak.

At some point the AFL will send out the memo to the media outlets to STFU about all this stuff as it is detracting from finals.

Despite my rant with a few aspects there were genuinely some good things to take out of the game.

That may have been the intimation from Goodwin but surely he should have anticipated that and encouraged the group to keep going. Positive mistakes are better than defensive/negative mistakes as long as you continue to pressure the opposition. Given our defensive game style in general it's hard not to be sceptical.

Flicking the switch from attacking to safe mode plays with players' heada at tines. I'm not surprised we saw some dumb mistakes in the final quarter. Instinct becomes at odds with instruction and you end up defaulting to dumb [censored]. Listening to Goodwin in the after game pressers over the years. Dour, uninspiring summations and never takes ownership. I reckon he has mastered the art of sublinally blaming the players without actually coming out and blaming them. We always need to "work harder". Tonight he said we played too safe in the final quarter. Doesn't elaborate on why though. Leaves us to assume it was player error even though he likely directed that [censored]. Bit of a sly communicator at tines.

Petty 4.13 for the year now. After kicking 12.1 last year, wtf has happened? Technique gone? Mental? Both? Killed us tonight. As a team, 4 behinds in last two final quarters. What message are they getting at 3/4 time?

The AFL is a [censored] weak organisation.

Garbage final quarter. Potentially our last win for the year. Slow, unfit, average skills, no discernable method or team rules, no midfield depth. What a shambles. Goodwin probably happy with himself after that win. Sure, umps had a few howlers but not scoring at all in a final quarter is pathetic.

OK, so Goodwin presser. I'm not going to dissect it but one thing that irks me. He pointed out that Pies are a high pressure team and that we need to execute better under pressure. Fine. Howabout as part of that we APPLY pressure of our own. Pies played an easy, third gear style of game today and won by 8 goals Because we let them.

Our guys don't do physical pressure that well full stop. We don't body spoil. We don't run hard enough straight line at opponents. We corale too much. We don't know the sneaky art of hurting opponents. Ala Moore knee into Petracca. We play happy happy joy joy footy under Goodwin. No wonder Maysy gets so [censored] off.

Yep, that's the other ramification. We're unwatchable. Even when we win it is a hard slog but it could get seriously embarrassing.

It's a big problem for the rest of the year too. No Petracca is going to show up our serious lack of midfield depth and this diabolical gameplan. Godwin is going to get exposed big tine here.

A few have gone in half hearted here and there but in general it's pointless listing poor players. We are improvising out there, the players have no instinct. We have no system. We aren't drilled forward of centre. Poor skills and decisions are a biproduct of this. Even simple stuff like fisting it on in marking contests up forward for runners to run on to. We don't do it. That spoil attempt by Billings as example, no body on body pressure. Footy 101 stuff. Simon has to go.

Poor old Gawny has to do everything out there. Goodwin and his stupid gameplan has ridden on the shoulders of 4 or 5 players for way too long. They should be a weapon but under Goodwin they are a crutch.

Our senior acquisitions have been ordinary since the 21 GF as well. Dunstan, Hunter, Billings all rubbish. Our list management has been millionaire stuff. Even the best teams replenish year on year with quality. Not us.

11sec, couldn't hold on. With 45sec to go, twice kicking out of defence couldn't get either a mark or stoppage. I don't mind Goodwin as a person, I think he has a high EQ and don't buy any of the culture stuff but he has to go. He's derelict in his coaching duties. Diabolical gameplan and bog average list which has become way out of balance. Totally inept forward of centre. Contested ball and territory is all he has. Nothing about transition, conection, team rules, forward system. When our players get the footy they have to think about what they're going to do with it. When the Pies players get it they already know and are gone.

Slow, disorganised, inaccurate. But at least we're winning the territory battle hey Goody. Petracca now injured We don't have a midfield. Our gameplan, list and fitness are all a shambles. Most embarrassing team forward of centre. Bottom 4 in '24. The board will support Goodwin to the hilt though.

Yeah he walked. From the outside looking in it doesn't seem like we did much to keep him though. To think he is getting game time in Sydney's midfield, of all teams - kind of puts it into perspective. Gus hurts but irrespective our midfield stocks are way too thin going forward IMO. To my mind it is a biproduct of Gawn Trac, Oliver being so dominant at the CB in years gone by and a football ideology which simply doesn't value quick transition between the arcs. Listening to Nathan Brown (who I rate as a good football brain and impartial) on MMM he suggested McVee to the midfield. Not the worst suggestion I've heard.

These sorts of losses, well maybe not this big but bad none the less are going to become more frequent I fear. We have a select few players who are very tired and have carried this team (and Goodwin) for quite some time. Furthermore the list is out of balance going forward. Filth by 10 goals next week.

Our game style is rubbish and has been for some time. Controlling and slowing the game and relying on superhuman efforts from the same 3 or 4 players every week is not sustainable, logical or even watchable. Goodwin simply won't change from this. This is the alarming part. Things will have to get really ugly for a few years before the club seriously looks at the coach. In the meantime our list gets older and more out of balance. This era is over unfortunately. Even worse, the next coach is rebuilding. Generational players like Gawn, Oliver, Petracca will be a luxury he won't have.

It has been an issue for some time. It is really coming home to roost now though. 12 months ago I said we were heading for a midfield cliff and got laughed at. Now, James Jordon is no superstar, but he was at least a genuine developing midfielder. Im not suggesting he would have been a major difference for us but it's the mindset of our football brains trust that is the issue. What in god's name was going through their mind in letting him go. Could they not see our ageing, one paced midfield needed all the help it could get going forward? Pickett was severely under utilised in the guts last season to mix it up. Used only occasionally this year in light of Brayshaw. Goodwin continually blind to the elephant in the room.
