  1. Exactly my thoughts. Clearly didn't watch the highlights package. The guy is a beast.
  2. But we are supposedly looking for competetive players....so maybe he fits the bill.... Personally I am wary about the late bolter at the draft table... 6 months good form to win the Morrish is great but would want to ensure his pedigree from a long way back is good...
  3. Oliver is a real bullock. Love his attack on the footy and the player. Good evasive skills, good amount of time and space. Its an impressive highlights reel. Doesn't seem to have the 'silk' factor which you probably want to see at a pick 3 but it seems you like you would get a bona fide inside mid workhorse in the mould of, say, a Dane Swan or Oliie Wines....
  4. I always have to laugh at this comment. Best available now? or Best player in 2, 3 or 4 years? Every draft in retrospect is vastly different to the actual draft......
  5. If he's like Heppell why would EFC be into him?
  6. We have to own the city of Melbourne and the club made a great job of the launch yesterday. Similarly we have to make melbourne a destination so that Jesse and others want to stay and gun players from other clubs will want to come to us. The reality is we haven't been able to attract the Dangerfield's of the comp to Melbourne. Success, a high profile in melbourne and and a great group of core home-grown talent might get us there. Its no 5 minute fix but like most things PJ does it is a long term sound strategy being built piece by piece. People ridiculed Glen Bartlett with his New York Yankees talk but the idea is the right one. We owned the town yesterday and we need to do it on a more consistent basis. We need to own it during footy season and there is no quick fix.
  7. Nah they went more than 15m and didn't go backwards
  8. Love this bit from his dad Shaun "He can definitely jump higher than me" Wow! I can see why we were happy to turf Howe!!!
  9. We need competitive footballers with skills - tick We need runners - tick We need to improve on the players we delisted - tick Goodwin has intimate knowledge of this guy's ability. We need to back his assessment.
  10. Its hard enough for clubs to pick talent at 17yo that will become AFL regulars. Its harder by some magnitude to do that at 16yo. Much greater drafting risk IMO
  11. I think you'll find Salem said he wants to try and move into the midfield. A bit different...
  12. You can only offer what you have so if 25 is marginal overs for JM then so be it. Its not like you can pick or choose to offer pick 31 if you don't have it. Sometimes you have to deal with what you have, BTW are we the first club ever to have done a trade deal with Essendon??
  13. Right. When the Dogs pay $1m for Boyd, the Swans pay $10m for Buddy, the Saints take McCarton at 1, talls like Carlisle and MCarthy and Cameron are being offered huge salaries yeah why would you want to lock away a gun key forward like Jesse. Jon Ralph is an Ess f.log.
  14. Who doesn't have them? A bit harsh. Your first comment about him being a superb kick of the ball was right.
  15. Yeah, but he might get banned and what do we have to give up for him?
  16. Please don't rewrite history. I can't be bothered going through the EFC/WADA thread for you but WADA were not happy. They accepted it because if mitigating circumstances. EFC won't have that luxury.
  17. He's already EFCs favourite... I pray we don't take this goose.
  18. I think it gets missed in the hype about Hogan but his quick hands and brain are a delight to behold. Some of the handpasses were fantastic. There was one rocket to newton that he fired off after he took the ball out of the air AND before he hit the ground. He has done things like that quite a few times this year. For a big bloke to have skills and a quick mind like that is quite incredible. And for that goose Leigh Mathews to say he is not a ground player is freaking ridiculous.
  19. But he didn't use double "quotation" marks which you would use if you were quoting them verbatim. He used single 'quotation' marks which is shorthand for paraphrasing something.... Just sayin....
  20. Sorry but I think this is rubbish. And in any case it wasn't televised on Channel 7. This is a Coll home game and their supporters get in for free unless they have 50000 supporters with those dodgy 2 or 3 game memberships. Probably more something like that. Hawthorn Carlton had 25k on a Friday night and we had 23k against the Saints on a Sunday at 3:20pm. Its not us who are the problem. But fans generally are sick of the AFL and their rigged fixturing. Or maybe people didn't want to go because they didn't want to have racist shouted at them because they booed.
