  1. The changes/additions will be fairly straight forward: MELBOURNE 1. Bail, Rohan 2. Bartram, Clint 3. Bate, Matthew 4. Bell, Daniel 5. Bennell, Jamie 6. Blease, Sam 7. Bruce, Cameron 8. 2. I know this isn't Melbourne related, but: Bradshaw met with Carlton officials yesterday and came away impressed. Carlton have matched Sydney's offer of 3 years (however, no mention of $) The Blues main sales pitch was that if he joined Carlton there will be less travel and more benefical to his young family. He's expected to make his decision this afternoon (Friday).
  3. If you were going to compare Talia to anyone from last years draft ... it would have to be Jackson Trengove (who was drafted to Port at #22). Jackson was a top 10 selection - but fell all the way to a VERY happy Port side at Pick #22 because of his sever hamstring tear during the year. Similar height to Talia (196-197cms), similar movement around the ground, similar agillity ... similar aerial ability (although I think Jackson may just pip him here). NB: I remember on Draft Day 2008, Essendon were shattered because they had his papers filled out (thinking he would be there at #23) and were so happy to be getting the 'local boy' who could sure up their defence ... just when they were about to get him into Essendon gear for the subsequent interview .... Port called out his name at #22. LOL poor Adrian Dodoro.
  4. Toy and Swallow would be top 5 selections. They'll team up well together at GC. ... although I think Toy would return home eventually.
  5. Carlton would have a midfield of: Judd, Murphy, Kreuzer, Leunberger, Cotchin and Gibbs.
  6. I think some of the Talia comparisons to Hurley are way off the mark IMHO. They are totally 2 different types of players.
  7. Oh heavens no!! .. I've incorrectly spelled Tom's surname !! That means I mustn't have watched him over the past 3 years. I suppose I had better re-assess him. I find it laughable you suggest that I base knowledge on forum group think - and then you claim you base yours on newspaper articles I suggest you read through my posting history. *claps*
  8. Oh my .... as if anybody doesn't already know Melbourne are set to take Sculley and Trengove. The first 4 selections in the draft are already locked in. Melbourne - Sculley Melbourne - Trengove Richmond - Martin Fremantle - Morabito and then this is when it gets interesting: North Melbourne- Rohan/Cunnington/Butcher Sydney Swans - Rohan/Cunnington/Butcher
  9. Michael Bowers (Brisbane CEO) is a clown. He's come out today and stated that: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/bris...f-1225788274176 Isn't this the same man, who tried to palm him off to Carlton for the Fev trade? I must have been dreaming of the images of Bradshaw being escorted around Visy Park by Brett Ratten. of course they wanted to keep him
  10. Christensen comes across as a bit of a one paced player.
  11. Craig has a fantastic leap - but you're right at 195 cms, if anything he'd be more young Jeff White. I think he would be super as a KPP because of his leap - his kicking may need work though.
  12. Stand corrected. Im confusing him with James Craig.
  13. Brad Fisher hasn't been delisted. He wants to leave after being promised game time in which he never received, but has a year remaining on his contract.
  14. Exactly, It's all well and good to have a plan going into draft day - (eg. Sculley/Trengove and then Butcher at #11), but people also need to remember that other clubs have similar plans - and circumstances change on draft day. Where a bolter emerges, smokies are picked up earlier than expected or a touted early selection drops in selection. A lot goes on behind closed doors. you never know, Melbourne may be faced with a good problem at Pick #11 - do they go with need or best available, should someone like Kane Lucas still be around come Pick #11? Draft day is all about mind games and poker faces ... never let on! <_<
  15. I've heard that a young Vardy has shot up in demand since Matthew Lobbe/Fabian Deluca have been de-listed. He has something going for him in that: he's probably the only real "decent" young ruck prospect that looks like he's going to make it as a full time ruckman at AFL level (NB: I don't count Fitzpatrick as a ruckman, I like James Craig too - but at 195 cms, despite his fantastic leap, he'll be better suited to a KP role). Melbourne have identified ruckmen as a need - ditto Adelaide. looks like it will be a race for Vardy between Port/Adel/Melb. I suspect at this stage Port will go tall at #8/#9 (or take an exceptional homegrown talent: Tapscott). Meaning that Melbourne might have to pull the trigger on Vardy at #11 to beat Adelaide to him (as they enter the draft at #13) .. or consequently take their chances at him maybe being around at #18. This is similar to 2006 when Carlton took Hampson at Pick #17, because Essendon had him lined up at #18 (they went with Jetta instead). Draft day is not just about getting the best available for your club .. its also about playing mind games with other clubs
  16. oh dear .. I've heard something different regarding Pick #11. but the first 2 selections are spot on .. with the possibility of Ball. Pick #11 will be a very interesting scenario .. depending on who is available.
  17. Not if he declares he wants to return to Melbourne.
  18. Id say if Bradshaw made his way to Carlton .. Carlton have got the better end of the deal. Pick #12 + Henderson + Bradshaw vs Fevola + Pick #27 ... especially now that the AFL have publicly stated that Fevola will face a lengthy ban if the sexual assault claims against him are proven and he is found guilty. Poor Brisbane.
  19. Shhh... don't tell the Youtube recruiters!
  20. He will get to Carlton one way or another because of the following: *The PSD is usually like a Clayton's Free Agency, if Bradshaw was to nominate for the draft and nominate Carlton as his preferred destination you'd think he'd be a pretty good chance to be passed by other clubs. *If Bradshaw leaves Brisbane and declares he wants to go to Carlton, then nobody is going to put a 30 year old full forward on their list if they think he doesn't want to play for them. He'll just do what Gehrig/Carr/Schofield have done and state that they will retire if not picked up by their club of coice. Trent Knobel in 2004 was the last uncontracted player to nominate a club and get selected before hand in the PSD.
  21. In fairness CJ was injured quite a bit this season - but I agree he didnt have the year he would have been hoping for. Re: Buckley - I would have thought that Carlton had to address more pressing needs than another 188-190 cm player.
  22. My understanding is that Brett Ratten has pushed him into walking, similar to CJ, by offering him more game time and a financially more sound offer.
  23. My point reflects the double standards that exists around football clubs and supporters. If Chris Johnson was to have been delisted - do you think Melbourne would have called him in half way through the year in order to abide by the following: tell those in charge yourself & in a timely fashion and not intimate business as usual as a representative delivers the news of your imminent departure to those in charge while you are intimating business as usual. Chris Johnson was offered a financially better deal by Carlton. Chris Johnson was offered more game time by Carlton Chris Johnson didn't see himself included in Melbournes future. Therefore he has the right to look after himself in what little time he has in the AFL to ensure he gets the best money possible to him. I like Dean Bailey - but he had an Alistair Clarkson moment of moronic proportions when he berated a player who had no guarantee of being at the club after 2009, to seek better opporunity elsewhere.
