  1. I actually have quite a bit to do with both Andrew Mamonitis and to a lesser extent Pavel Torudd through Kaspersky Labs here in Melbourne. I can tell you that they initially were vying for the major sponsorship role back in December 2008 but held off at the time due to the climate caused by the fall of the Global Economy. Currently, there's speculation that Kaspersky on the back of their $4.8 million dollars over 3 years are also looking to join forces with an A-League Club (probably Perth Glory at this stage) and I can state right now that Melbourne FC memberships will rise given Kaspersky's presence globally - they are rapidly growing in what little markets they don't yet dominate. They are currently designing systems to implement into the heath industry with Cabrini Hospital being the first medical facillity in Australia to use Kaspersky Labs systems. Andrew is a top bloke also, loves a laugh and a beer and ill be enjoying his corporate box while he's away in China for the larger part of 2009 Both will be here for the round 1 clash vs. Nth - and I can tell you that there will be a rather huge do in Round 11 for the Queens Birthday clash, don't be suprised to hear about many more heavy hitters from Kaspersky being at the game. It really is great news for Melbourne.
  2. Hey all, Just to had to share my joy with you! My 17 year old brother has been invited to train with Melbourne as part of the VIS/AIS Academy Program for 2009! For all you training watchers - look out for him: 191 cm, left footer with beautiful disposal ... and with blonde patches in his hair !!!
  3. Jurrah plays much taller than 193 cm - given his vertical leap. I saw him kick 6.2 against Daniel Rich's Subiaco late last year (when they travelled to NT to play against NTFLs sides as part of pre-season)
  4. Now Sharples I like! just needs to work on his kicking ...
  5. LMAO at some of the recruiting experts comparing Sibasado to Buddy after watching a 3 minute "YouTube" highlights (and I use the term lightly) package. The problem with Casey Sibasado is that he really is a boom or bust type selection. I guess in the PSD you can afford to take that risk. When he was playing at Oakleigh during the TAC - he attended training probably only once per week (and when he felt like it - he attended twice per week) - instead of the required 3 sessions. He is in no way shape or form a "Buddy Franklin" clone - doesnt have the pace or the quick reactive skills that Franklin has. But he would be ok as a 3rd forward or defender - see Jason Roe. I wonder if any of the people on this forum comparing him to Buddy Franklin - remember Caleb Mourish who was supposed to be "the next Buddy Franklin", and was drafted by Fremantle in 2006 and then delisted that same year ?
  6. That would be the approach MFC should take as these days due dilligence must be taken - as I said, in the PSD you can afford to make those kind of risky selections. Kboble McLaren Ackland Gourdis Have all since been delisted after being selected at PSD #1. I just hope people on this forum don't get their hopes up when they see Sibasado thinking he's Franklin Mk II.
  7. From what I saw of him in 2007/2008 - I really liked this kid. Started his career as a wingman - has good mobillity and a sticky set of hands.

  9. Whilst Steve Gaertner is a tall, lanky, athletic monster .... The fact is - he just simply cannot kick, and he doesnt have a football brain. Where do you play him at AFL level? - He'd get mauled in the ruck, he isn't smart enough to read the play as a CHB, CHF - and he is too tall to play as a wingman. He suffers from Kepler Bradley syndrome - outgrowing the size requirements for your natural position. Only in Steve's case, the problem is magnified tenfold - given his inabillity to kick a decent drop punt on a regulat basis. Probably should be rookied though.
