  1. Casey for me... ill be dissapointed if we dont take the risk on him.

The guy has a lot of potential...

But there MUST be a reason why he was not picked up in the national

I am convinced that Sibosado has to be #1 PSD unless there is a real issue with him non-football related.

1/ Firstly while they are only "high lights" they are by far the best highlights of players still available.

2/ He is KPP which we did not target in the national draft (Watts was only tall taken)

3/ Most other clubs seem to have their selections locked in therefore we should still get a good player #1 Rookie (De-Bore or Rockliff who are not KPP)

4/ There are only 2 major holes currently in our list - KPF and a Ruckman. Spencer will hopefully come on over the next year (you need 2 good rucks with johnson being the other) this leaves KPF which we currently have no back up if injury hits us.

5/ With the PSD we need to look 1-2 years down the track.....miller being a QLD boy could be a GC17 target as well, I rate this bloke through the roof, however when the trade time comes we could potentially do very well out of a miller for a top 3-7 pick GC17 will be desperate for a leader and KPF.

therefore take the opportunity now to top up don't wait until it is too late for our talls! Watts will be great, but your only ever as good as the options you have up forward.

  2. He has another 6 days to do his schooling. It may effect his training a bit I can't see it effecting him playing football. Fletcher played in a premiership going to school I can't see why Watts can't juggle school and football.

I would love to see watts play >12 good games next year as much as anybody. But the game has changed a lot since fletcher started back in the early 90's. To be fair these days you need to be 100% for football as a sports professional.

You can't have 2 full time jobs and thats why we will see watts but unlikely to be more then 1/2doz games in 09. I do think he will play rd 1 if he is fit.

  3. I can only go from what I have seen on YouTube, but if came down to Sibosado and Rockliff I would go for Sibosado.

As I've mentioned before Rockliff just seemed to lack polish while Sibosado had a natural class about him. He looks like he has a good size to him and Melbourne are in more need of a key forward than a HFF or forward pocket.

Totally agree on you there, Sibosado is worth the risk for me. I have a real question over rockliff's set shot which no one else has brought up and being that he would be seen as a FP he has to have good skills. Also I believe we have a few that can play this position well even if robbo doesn't come up. Therefore a KPF is what we need and Sibosado is the best avail player for this role from his highlights package.

The thing that excites me is that if Bris take Yze we could get both.

  4. Give the boy a chance.

By being a rookie thats exactly what he will get as soon there is an injury. The fact is we are better keeping him for now on the rookie list and putting another player who shows more potential on the list proper. I have stated before that unfortunately valenti is not in our best 25 moving forward and think the club sees it the same way otherwise they would have already promoted him.

Who knows where he might be in 12 months, he does seem to be the sort of player that could grab any opportunity but if I was to look into my crystal ball I think he will wind up being a very good VFL level player.

  5. Its messy. but it works. And nothing else I can think of works for all parties.

A part from the Dee's pulling a shifty and taking cus.

Todays article in the HUN is word for word what the "Get CUS to MFC" camp have been saying apart from having the tigers players names. (I just can't let this go until tue is over)

  6. IMO a counter attacking gameplan with acquired elite pacy midfielders and defenders through turning over the list is what is required to beat the likes of the Hawthorn's and the Geelong's in a Grand Final. If you intend to go down the path of the status quo and obtain rejects or 'used' players to plug gaps like the Picket's and Holland's of this world you may get to the finals occassionally but you'll never be a premiership side let alone see week 3 of the finals series. We need a huge dose or injection of quality players who will develop together. Morton, Grimes, Watts, Blease, Strauss, Martin, Garland are part of that developing group.

Totally agree and which is why valenti is not there. If one of these "Premium" players get injured I'm sure his opportunity will come. But for now he WILL stay on the rookie list and I don't know why we keep discussing. There is about as much chance of valenti getting a snr spot as us taking cus on tue.

  7. Not in our best 25, but if injuries and still playing well at VFL then an opportunity might come up.

He played some great games last year and filled a role but is not one of our best and certainly not one of our best moving forward.

"Let's call it like it is, Valenti will be dropped from the rookie list at year's end. He will never play in a serious finals side." - RoostIT you are spot on. I was a little less blunt but essentially see it the same way. We know what we will get with him so don't waste a spot on the list. Lets all move on.

  8. That's quite some turnover, and it could probably have been more.

    Great Post!!

Below are the more for mine that will have to prove something in 09...

    Top 3 in Bold!

Daniel Bell - Showed plenty so far needs consistancy potential trade at end of season

Mark Jamar - If Jake Spencer comes on I think Jamar could be playing his last season

James McDonald - Age? Would love to see jnr play in 2010 but if young players are coming through and body not holding up may retire

Brent Moloney - Career defining season, fingers crossed

Michael Newton - Hopefully given a full oportunity, not 100% sure where our game plan is going and how juice fits into the bigger pitcure

Ricky Petterd - with high quality wing/half back player being drafted needs to hold down a snr position this year, I really rate him though

Russell Robertson - will he ever be the same? lets hope so but 09 could be his last

    ..... Be gentle!

  9. What ever happens I say well done to the Tigers for giving him a go (If it happens).

Good luck to em if they get a special dispensation from the AFL. I still believe the MFC have had the blinkers on in relation to this and I am still hoping for us to pull a suprise but know that it won't happen

I would hate to be playing them in rd 1 if he is fit. I think it is the blues so hopefully the tigers give carlton the start that we are all hoping for.

  10. There's also nothing gained at this point by having valenti on the list either. I want to see a KPF and Sibosado is the right fit. that will then leave Rockcliff as our 1st rookie (This is just speculation), but I think is quite likely to happen. Even De-Bore as 1st rookie.

Not in our best 25, but if injuries and still playing well at VFL then an opportunity might come up.

He played some great games last year and filled a role but is not one of our best and certainly not one of our best moving forward.

  11. By passing in the PSD considering that it looks like other clubs will go with experience (Carr, Skipworth, Tippett, Johnson, Cousins) it is most likely that we are not giving up anything that won't be available come rookie draft day.

    Fair Call,

but this would mean that we could potentially take both Rockcliff and Sibosado without other clubs getting a lookin. If we pass i think we get the 1st pick in rookie then the rest have their go don't they? So based on this leave Valenti where he is and if the need arises lift him then.

  12. any publicity at the moment is good publicity.

But I smell a Membership marketing opportunity after reading todays article. While we have more members then this time last year most are members which have resigned early. Therefore the challenge is to attract more new members before christmas. 20k for xmas would be a good start for 09

  13. He's training with Hawthorn and played with the Murray Bushrangers. Thoughts? He played as a tall defender. Is he someone we should be looking at for the Rookie Draft?

    RILEY MILNE

Not for me, we have enough young tall defenders. FKP or ruckman for mine

  14.

You missed the point. Frank's proposal to give up our PSD pick for a player who doesn't want to play for Mfc is ridiculous and has nothing to do with Chris Connolly's recent comments - which is a bit of spin and made me laugh.

High Tower, Check the early thread Frank claimed this was directly from CC. Am I the only one that took this as a bit of banter back then?

Take a deep breath! - Remember there's nothing wrong with trying to stir up the CFC - They bring it on themselves!
