  1. Gosh. His third such kneeing offence and itโ€™s a fine.
  2. GWS keen to poke the ball to teammate rather than take possession
  3. What about the 'insufficient intent' nonsense we were treated to last night. A player in wet conditions kicks it along the ground over 40 metres and it eventually slides out therefore he wasn't intent enough to keep it in. I can't wait for it to be applied to all areas of the game where the ball goes out. Any kick to a pack along the boundary line shows insufficient intent to keep the ball in since the player must know there is a high probablility it will go out one way or another. If the player gave priority to keeping it in, he should kick it to an oponent 30m from the boundary.
  4. I recall in IT there used to a joke that a device which was write-only was useless.
  5. Ah, Demonland, gotta love it. But the usage of 'hence' to mean "from here" is rather archaic. It is now usually defined as therefore or as a consequence. Some even go as far as hence meaning from now. Shocking, I know.
  6. With some players it's not techique etc that makes them miss goals. It's the pressure of the situation, either the state of the game or of their own performance. So how do you reproduce that pressure in training in a way which is acceptable to players?
  7. Goodwin has taken an even stronger line: "I don't only see 'Kozzy' playing until 2027, I see him playing to well and truly beyond that. We've got three years to try and do that." https://www.afl.com.au/news/1272907/the-appointment-of-nathan-jones-as-midfield-coach-having-an-enormous-impact-on-melbourne-demons
  8. True. I thought they were sufficiently close together. But I see it's quite a bit cooler at Mandurah early on: Mandurah Temperatures At 2:00 AM 5:00 AM 8:00 AM 11:00 AM 2:00 PM 5:00 PM 8:00 PM 11:00 PM Air temperature (ยฐC) โ€“ โ€“ โ€“ 29 29 27 24 22 Feels like (ยฐC) โ€“ โ€“ โ€“ 28 27 26 24 23 Dew point temperature (ยฐC) โ€“ โ€“ โ€“ 14 16 17 19 19 Perth Temperatures At 2:00 AM 5:00 AM 8:00 AM 11:00 AM 2:00 PM 5:00 PM 8:00 PM 11:00 PM Air temperature (ยฐC) โ€“ โ€“ โ€“ 32 34 31 25 23 Feels like (ยฐC) โ€“ โ€“ โ€“ 31 33 29 25 24 Dew point temperature (ยฐC) โ€“ โ€“ โ€“ 14 16 16 17 18

  10. Ditto for me using firefox on mac. I think sometimes the page may appear eventually.
  11. I don't disagree with much of that. But I think Green wasn't actually saying give us 3 picks and a deal will be done. Perhaps he was a bit clumsy, but I think he only meant that there will be a high price to pay.
  12. Obviously there is an element of risk with any pick and that single example proves nothing other than you can get it wrong in hindsight. Perhaps you'd care to suggest what we might demand other than picks? Maybe tell WA "you can have Kozzie for one or two of your best established players that fill a need for us". Good luck arranging that.
  13. Very droll. But I think the wide readership of Binman's posts prove the contrary.
  14. I'm tempted to paste here a long article on the psychology of people who pretend never to read replies.
  15. It would help keep readers away who are not interested in betting themselves, but who do have views of AFL gambling, if the title of the thread was clearer.
  16. As I posted elsewhere: With all respect and sympathy for Jagga Smith, thank god a Carton player was injured. (yes, I am cynical.)
  17. So we get Jai Culley. With all respect and sympathy for Jagga Smith, thank god a Carton player was injured.
  18. Moreover, why is there a cut off date before the first match of the season at all? I presume there may be a rationale, but I've no idea what it could be.
  19. https://www.afl.com.au/news/1271028/clubs-to-push-for-rule-change-after-late-injuries Maybe there is some hope of this getting up since it would help Carlton. Any C'wood or Essendon players injured recently?
  20. I usually avoid match day threads (for reasons which don't need much imgaination to guess), but I'm following this one out of footy deprivation. Are these established AFL umpires, or some newbies?
  21. Some have said. he will be in the Round 1 team. But skills aside, will he learn enough of our game plan etc in the few weeks remaining?
  22. Good to see the AFL have confirmed the 10am start. While not defending either MFC's website in general (or North's) for being so quiet, it could be that they could say nothing until the AFL had signed off on the 'rumour'. I see that the Carlton StKilda game is still at 11. Will be interesting to see if Melb beats North in getting it onto their websites......
  23. Or you could argue getting a reasonable number of goals in a pi$$ poor team is pretty good going. Presumably in a poor team the ball was up the other end most of the time and delivery forward was poor.
  24. It's serious when someone has to be put in a cart and wheeled off.
  25. I'd rather them than those who always look for the darkside. It's not as if those "positive, idealistic well meaning supporters" posting here have any effect on what the team does.
