None at all, almost anywhere, the number of times our backline looked up to see stationary players was terrible.
-
Marks Stevens said this on Twitter during the game last night. I'm not exactly sure what he means, but I thought it was interesting.
-
I'd make your time limit pretty short if you're going to go that late. Also If you end up with an odd number you can't start your draft, which caught me out last year.
-
That quote just sums up the absurdity of the whole Watts vs. NikNat thing.
-
You'll learn some valuable lessons jako. Plus a good opportunity to get the game against me out of the way early.
-
Jeez I hope we beat that team. I wouldn't pick up 70% of those players in the PSD.

Never stopped the HUN. Or The Age for that matter.

It's okay to be scared.

12 worked well last year for me, at least you get qulaity players in your teams. Plus you have plenty of time before March 24 to run the draft, especially if you run a hard line in respect to your time limit. You could PM everyone in the list (start of thread) not already in a league. I have in Demonland 1: 1. DeeVoted 2. Dappa Dan 3. robbo24 4. High Tower 5. Range Rover 6. Demon Land7 7. JAKO13 8. 45HG16 9. jayceebee31 10. Old Man Rivers 11. Mad_Melbourne 12. Eth38 13. JackAttack 14. snomeD 15. rpfc 16. scarlett

I would prefer the winner gets to take over the losers Avatar & Signature for a month.

Easy tiger. It is currently the "mouthpiece of the AFL", but it doesn't have to be. It can be an independant media outlet if it chooses, and it appears that it is making taking steps in that direction, albeit shaky ones. Right now the AFL website loses a lot of potential site visits to other sites because it just representes the opinion of the league, it's boring.

It is, but it doesn't have to be.

I didn't agree with the article but I think it is a good idea by the AFL to create a website that can act as an independant media outlet, the site has largely been boring up to now. If they want to make it more of a one stop shop for people interested in the AFL by including opinion pices then I think that's fine. The MFC site could also do with a bit of that, I think you hold the website back a bit by limiting it's articles to MFC approved messages. Why couldn't the site have a members only online forum, or even an MFC players only fantasy league. The Canucks (NHL) they have a gameday thread. There are a number of issues with all of these types of things but none that can't be overcome.

Apologies MrReims, I had initially intended on inviting people in the order listed earlier, but in then end I thought that would be a pain. This one is the second Ultimate footy league i'm running so I couldn't be bothered making work for myelf. Is Demonland Mk 2 still open? Surely no-one will miss out.

No max on trades, I see no reason to limit it. But there is a limit on signing reserves of 30. But this is a very high number I doubt anybody will get close to that. Max 5 in 1 week. I think all these details can be viewed under settings on the league page. Unless that page is for admin only.

That would have been easier. Just on the trade review system. 6 votes (1/3rd) will vote a proposed trade down.

Nope. Scoring is a category based system, based on 9 categories (ki,hb,m,score,ho,t,ff,fa, score percentage). The aim is to beat the team you're playing in at least 5 of these categories, winner gets 4 premiership points. Frees against you obviously want to have fewer, but all the others you want to have more, score is the total points kicked by your team, and score percentage is goals/points, so accurate players can be useful. The beauty of this system is that you need to be smart about the kinds of players you pick. You'll need a good ruck otherwise you just give up that category to teams with a strong ruck. Buddy can be a nightmare because he might kick a huge score but he kicks a lot of points. The best tactics tend to be the ones that balance your team across all categories. This year is going to be a bit interesting, every round has a bye, some have 3. But we'll still be playing in those rounds. Be wary of essendon players, if you make the grand final you won't be able to use them, they have a bye in round 22. And be careful not to pick too many players from the same club or you won't be able to cover them in weeks when they have a bye. There are two ways to change your list: Sign a reserve player from the list of players that have not been drafted, delisting a player in his place. There is a waiver period involved in signing a player, but thats a story for another day. You can also trade players between teams, trades are proposed by one team accepted by another. The trade then has to pass through a 2 day review period where other coaches can vote against the trade, if there are enough votes against it won't pass. This is to stop people being dishonest, and making unbalanced trades. There is a bit of an honesty system here, so i ask that people only vote down a trade if they think it's genuinely unfair, not just because they're playing one of those teams in the next week and they don't want them to get an advantage. Trading can be difficult to do, coaches tend to over-rate their own players and don't think they're getting value from a proposed trade. It's better to keep an open mind to trades, particularly if you have an excess of a type of player and not enough of another.

Well picked up. When changing the settings I need to set 2 times: the first is the start time and date of the draft (sunday 5:30) but when I went to set the ongoing time (days following sunday) it only gave me the option to do it on the hour (every day 5:00pm to 10:00pm). SO, the draft will start @ 5:30pm on sunday and close for the day at 10:00pm, it will then re-open everyday after then @ 5:00pm and close again at 10:00pm. I suppose I could make them both 5:00pm, but I thought if people are out on sunday they probably won't get back until around this time at the earliest, and I would hate for people to miss out. That is probably just as true for the 2nd - 6th days of drafting but I figure that with a half hour time limit you only have to check in by 5:30 to be able to select you pick. Given the likelyhood that at least 4-5 people won't be able to check in regularly while the draft is running and that I set a 30 minute time limit, we should be able to get through about 2-3 rounds every night. Which means it will take about a week. At the very least we'll get through 10 selections every night if everyone takes 30 minutes to pick, that would take a month. The slow draft option is new to UFooty this year (i think), so i'm not sure if in the times outside the official draft times there is drafting allowed (with no time limit), or if there is just no drafting whatsoever. I'm hoping it is the latter. I guess we'll find out this weekend. The moral of the story is being a dictator is much simpler than running a democracy when it comes to fantasy sports.

You talk a big game.
-
Shame on you if it isn't a Melbourne player.
-
Pressure signing, wouldn't want to get it wrong, if it goes bad you're next best player is at pick 32.
-
Demonland 1 now full. If there are more interested someone will need to open another league and act as administrator. Outside of picking a draft time it's an easy job. Bring on the draft!
-
Okay sunday evening it is. Drafting will continue in the evenings until we're done. 30 minute time limit. 5:30-10:00pm If you're not free then i'm sorry but you'll just have to be smart about how you pre-select your players.
-
Bugger. I knew this wasn't going to be easy. I suppose Sunday afternoon/evening is an option? Then I could have it run only out of business hours in the evenings? I would probably want to drop the time limit to 30 minutes so there would be less waiting. Again, I'm never going to get everyone at once but it would be nice if the first round or 2 was drafted and not autoselected.

i'll make it saturday, we're near full now so i dont't see any reason to wait too long. Draft is from 12:00pm saturday. i know some will not be able to make it then but i urge all to try and check in regularly to keep it moving.
