Really hope we don’t do a West Coast.
Content with one flag and then go backwards at a million knots an hour.
I can't believe how much they've plummeted in the last couple of years...

I've heard that Spargo and Bedford are also out.
BTW it's RATs or RA tests. It's not Rapid Antigen Test test !!
That would be so unlucky for Bedford!
And its not ATM machines while we're at it!

Listening to Pert on SEN, it sounds like there are more players.

What did he say?

I heard a stat some weeks ago (wish I’d paid more attention) that teams who lose the grand final by more than 45 points don’t win a final the next year. Something like 70% don’t make finals at all. And the bigger the margin, the worse it gets (sample group gets smaller though). Ergo, Dogs won’t make finals, and if they do manage to scrape in, they’re going straight out.
Yeah the stats show that usually a top 4 side from the previous year misses finals

About the low crowd, lots of people seem to be out of town at the moment...

Flynn, he's solid enough but Nankervis went to town on him a couple of weeks ago
We actually bid on Flynn in the draft (way back in the Oliver/Weid draft in 2015) but GWS matched our bid. We then picked Mitch King.

It is crazy just how much bad luck Joel Smith has had in his short career. I would be surprised if he has ever managed more than 6 weeks in a row before something has forced him out of the team.
Yeah he's played a total of 24 games since he debuted in 2017 and the most he's ever played is 7 in a row.. unlucky!

I have thought this for a while too.
In the meantime the Hawks are paying him for this year while he refreshes.
Agree but Tassie won't come in for 5 years (when the new stadium in Hobart is built and to give clubs time to prepare for compromised drafts) so maybe Clarko coaches another club before Tassie!

Rafael Nadal - 21 Today!!
Next up is the French Open which Rafa has won 13 times already ... so he can get to at least 22 slams or more
He's still got the legs and he's certainly still got the shots
What an absolute champion!
What an amazing comeback by Nadal. How did he manage to win to turn it around!? He actually hit less winners and made more errors across the match too.

Tmac finishing in the top 10 is also a fair effort considering he didn't do much in his last 6 weeks after his injury. Shows what a great start to the year he had.

We have 4 spots available and picks 17, 37, 48, 57 and 94.
Wonder of they'll try and bundle 48 and 57 for an earlier pick or trade a pick for a 2022 pick. Doubt Woewodin will go before pick 57, or even draw an opposition bid at all. Pick 94 should get it done.
I reckon we'll try, it's just whether there are any takers.
Wonder if he'll also get the nickname Woey.

Good to read that Lockhart might get another gig at GWS.

You could probably add Richo into that mix also. Importantly the ones above were part of a relatively successful era at the pies.
Choco played for the Pies too!

I guess the recent positive press is good news that we might get a decent player and bad news that we might need to use a higher pick/points on him. I wonder if his ranking is now in the 40-60 range.

Amongst the new stuff just added to the MFC shop was "Melbourne Demons Premiers P2 Canvas Photo" for about $40
Does anyone know how big this canvas is?
I will probably buy it anyway but am curious.
I was wondering myself so did a bit of googling. Looks like 42cm x 52cm

how did deakin qualify as an NGA was he indigenous or does he have roots elsewhere?
He wasn't an NGA. Maybe you're thinking of Deakyn Smith who was an NGA? I only say that because for some stupid reason thought that Deakin Pereira had changed his name to become Deakyn Smith (they seemed to be at the club at similar times) and only just realised this reading this thread!
-
If the AFL wanted to bring in NGA restrictions then the fairest thing to do would have been to not bring in the 'can't bid in the first 20 picks rule' but instead allow clubs to only be allowed to take advantage of the rule once. After about 5 years the draft would no longer be compromised.
So for example Collingwood and the Bulldogs can't get another player this way because they've had their turn. Seems unfair that due to timing those clubs get to take advantage of the rule but others miss out.

I think with all our recent re-signing, we're struggling for lift spots in the draft, let alone delisted free agents..
