  1. I was there and didn't see Tyson do too much wrong. He had the same disposal stats as Jones (14k, 12h, 26 disposals @ 69.2%), yet he had two more goal assists, four more clearances (Jones had zero), two less clangers and two more contested possessions. I didn't see you put "most overrated footballer" next to Jones.
  2. Insipid means "weak". Yes, they were outplayed and jumped at the start. But they weren't "insipid". But whatever floats your boat as a keyboard warrior.
  3. The logical extension of that is that we should be able field half our Casey team and still be able to win. After all, losing some "top 5" players is "just an excuse" and our attitude is just "insipid". Losing Gawn (and Spencer) throws our whole team out of position. Not only don't we have an AA ruck, who can also work in the forward line or back line by intercept marking against opposition talls (McEvoy a fortnight ago, Goldstein yesterday), but we have to shift players like Watts, Pedersen and Tmac out of position. Watts is probably playing worse because he gets banged up having to ruck against bigger and taller opponents. Pedersen runs around the ground full time, does a fantastic job, but gets stuffed by the end of the match with the workload. TMac in the ruck means our backline talls become two players (OMac and Frost) who are inexperienced and have played less than 30 games each. Losing Hogan means we lack big talls in our forward line. A player like Weideman has to play as the main forward, a role he is not yet up to. Effectively, he has to play like a Roughhead, instead of like a Gunston where he'd be better suited. Lack of talls also reduces Garlett's crumbing ability because the ball doesn't come to ground or off the packs as much. We can't play Watts forward as much because he spends more time rucking. I think the team has done a fantastic job of covering Gawn and Hogan's loss, but at some stage it's going to show. Sunday was a warm, dry day and having experienced talls really mattered. We were killed by North's, especially Tarrant, Thompson and Hansen in the backline. They then got drive down the field through linking handballs and fast transition to score goals. I think to label the team's performance "insipid" is a disgrace. It was a hard, tough match and they didn't really flinch.
  4. You must have a handful of negatives about Tyson that you just slot in every week, regardless of his performance.
  5. How do you reckon North might have gone on Sunday without Brown and Goldstein (and no talls left to back either of them up)? I also reckon it's taking a lot out of Pedersen, Watts and TMac.
  6. Yep, let's not have Dangerfield, Martin, Fyfe, Ablett, Steven or Parker in your team ... they're spuds!
  7. Bryce Gibbs wasn't out of contract.
  8. Gawn might have been the difference yesterday. He could easily have impeded the two McEvoy marks that led to goals, and maybe others.
  9. The resources of BCNA to promote the event are not limitless. Every two years is enough for them, without taking away from their main purpose which is to support women with breast cancer.
  10. The main Field of Women night match is every second year. In between (this year) there's a match like this week's but it's more a fundraiser. This year we only play the Bulldogs in Round 13 at Etihad.
  11. I don't. I hope Weidemann plays well at Casey and kicks the door down for a re-call (not necessarily at the expense of Pedersen). I'd never hope one of our young players is consigned to the seconds for a year.
  12. Fifty dollars from me. Maybe those people who like those little tete-a-tete, personal, in-crowd, charmed-circle posts and jokes about irrelevant personal lives, dogs, food, weddings etc. could desist in the recognition that every post fills up space that Demonland has to pay for.
  13. To last until the final siren.
  14. Agree with the sentiment, and the club has said he won't play this weekend. But a small correction ... his dad died in Melbourne yesterday after watching the Anzac eve game, and the Age reports that the funeral will be held in Adelaide (where he was originally from).
  15. What ... he's got no awareness that someone's going to whack him off the ball when he isn't looking?
  16. Suits me! In regional areas 7Mate is HD. It's only SD in capital cities. Seven in regional areas is pretty slack though. While Nine and Ten have an HD broadcast of their main channel (e.g. 8/80 and 5/50), Seven don't. And there's no 7Flix. Not that that's worth anything.
  17. Well, if he's made lots of heart-on-sleeve comments then continues to end up eating humble pie, he's not learning much. Agree with Vogon, the last mistake is not the only one that causes the loss.
  18. Here's a full breakdown of all the teams in a lot of key stats. In some, there's not a lot of difference between teams, and they are skewed by a small number of players. For example, Melbourne has 58 games of finals experience, but 23 of them belong to Jordan Lewis. Without him we'd down on the bottom with Brisbane. Melbourne is down towards the bottom of the list for average age, average games, average goals, average finals and players with more than 100 games. It points towards another year or two of development to get into premiership contention, provided there's enough skill on the list.
  19. They'd have to change their names to the Clouds.
  20. I wish Bruce would take the word "caress" out of his vocabulary. Franklin kicked a ball-burster 65 metres, and Bruce says he "caressed" it.
  21. What will be much better than an Oscar McDonald who has played 18 games is an Oscar who has played 40 games at the end of this season, or 60 or so games at the end of 2018. He has some good attributes, but he is a project player who needs to experience the pressure and speed of the highest level (AFL) to maximise his learning, not get stuck in the VFL where it may be all too easy for him.
  22. So when the stats don't suit an argument, throw out the stats?
  23. There is no such thing as "season defining" in Round 1.
  24. He picked Essendon to finish 8th. So did two others, including Adam Cooney. I'm not a fan of Robbo, but it's hardly beyond the realms of possibility.
