[censored] Nankervis is a shiz player who just impedes other players. We need him... In the 2019 game Brayshaw and Viney r liabilities. As for the rest well meh
-
Haha i noticed it as well. Sadly we just turned it over. Not even umpire help can save us
-
From my own leadership perspective I can understand what SG is saying. You don't necessarily want to say what you're doing is wrong and your players are slow or poor etc.... I just hope that they are making the hard decisions. All we can do is hope. But to be fair SG has on face value to now made a lot of good calls, so I am prepared to back him in.... Sadly that doesn't mean we will get better anytime soon in the short term

I can't actually answer that, as I'm not in the inner sanctum - but its a good question and one we never get an answer to. But my answer would be look at the ladder - the slow teams (Sydney, us, Adel to a lesser extent) are all down the bottom. Especially on big grounds like the MCG, speed IMO is now the Ace From what I can see, It seems the good teams focus on stopping the other team scoring (Geelong as an example are up there and been doing it for over a decade) and also have good outside run and ball use (Port Ess are good examples). We on the other hand have too many one paced players - I won't name names, and it is the defence that is the problem but it's also the pace to be able to defend the ground in our current press. We are too slow all over the ground, and Im talking our star players not just the easy targets potted on this site. Our mids don't put on enough defensive pressure and our forward line is too slow. The long story short is footy has completely changed from 2018 to 2019 hence why I am hating on Gil and the AFL [censored]$. I have no idea if our coaching staff weren't ready or we are just not good enough, and what is even worse we will draft up a fast running team and the AFL will change the rules again..... I really hate the media and the AFL Anyway it means we are buggered for 2019... and the coaches have a lot of work to do.

I'm reluctant to post but I will give it a go. Last year when we were winning the game was a lot slower paced. There were a lot more contests, and ball ups etc. That is where we excelled. Like you said we are still winning the ball The biggest difference as far as I can tell is that the 666 allows fast scoring. We can not send extra players to contest at ball ups any more basically meaning the game has sped up. For example last year we were sending 2 or 3 from the back line to the centre contest, which you're not allowed to do now. This slowed the game up So what does that mean? It means the game is more open. We are getting exposed in transition for a lack of pace - we are too slow, and our ball use is terrible so we can't retain the ball. Other teams just sit back and defend, wait for us to turn it over and out run us. This was a problem last year as well, but we found a way through contests to slow it down. Now it isn't as all as simple as that, but that's basically how I see it. We won't get any better until we improve our defensive set ups (Lever and May come back) and we need pace all over the ground. We have too many slow, poorly skilled one pace players, too many inside mids, all our talls are slow. Our inside 50 efficiency is embarrassing, teams are consistently out running us, teams score so easily against us because we defend so high and we are too slow or we turn it over in really bad spots. Jones cops a lot on here but at least he is willing and able to provide run which isn't his natural go. Anyway there is a lot of work to do for this group, I honestly can't see them getting better this year. We are too slow and too portly skilled. Thank you AFL for opening the game up and keeping the big teams up the top. (although I am happy to see the Suns and Saints win a few games) And I agree with @Redleg the Blues will beat us easily

Omac and Frost: Premiership Kryptonite
Cheap Seats replied to At the break of Gawn's topic in Melbourne Demons
I rekon we have to throw T mac back in to defense and bring in some quick smalls. Id keep frost for his pace ATM Clearly there isn't much we can do here at the moment with Lever and May down But stevie wonder can see we are terrible defensively they aren't really pointing out much new information here -
Im not normally one for the throw the baby out with the bath water but I agree I was at the game and our defensive structure were pathetic... continually leaving open men inside their F50 and guarding no one. It was an embarrassing shambles
-
Agree No10 We have gone the contested ball winning beast route and guess what there isn't a lot of now... stoppages. We get slaughtered in open play and the past 3 weeks is evidence of that. Also apart from Oliver and a cameo from Brayshaw and Harmes our mids are one paced slow and have terrible decision making and execution. We know they can win the ball but continually butcher it in open play.... Our efficiency is last and so are we... Back to your point, the powers that be have changed the game style and our club has committed its strategy to the latter game style of 2018. If we can't fix the defensive structures and find some outside run quicly it's going to be a long 12 months. Forget about finals we aren't even competitive at the moment.
-
Nah we will get pick 1 this year.
-
The game is played completely differently to last year though. Its an outside running game now. Our players are not up to it. They are slow and not even winning 1 v 1s in a lot of cases The structures last night to continually leave open men inside our defensive 50 is a joke a really bad joke
-
I don't actually blame the players for this disaster it's very much a combination of things. For a start thank you Gil you [censored] for continually changing how the game is played. It is now a soft outside game. In saying that we as a club are terrible at it. And our structures and execution are all terrible. I have no doubt in saying we are now the worst club in the league because our ability to execute in open play is non existent. After you all get over the fact the we are terrible at this new game style the real question is - is it time to rebuild?? There are some very senior players at the moment who are underperforming either due to possible injury or bad form. They are all slow and struggle to impact the game in this new format. Tough time for Goody and co. Leaking 20 goals to a basket case side is not good

Haha good to see nothing has changed in 5 months....

Has slowed down

Good luck jesse You're freos problem now

Cheap Seats replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
Possibly - I think 6 though is a lot more valuable, but would trust the FD regardless -

Do we have to use pick 6 for May? Is it possible we could trade our next year first round and 23 for May? KK will be steak knives If we can go to the draft with 6 that's a big win -
Called it
-
Maybe Im greedy but I feel like it needed to be more
-
To be fair, they did get the bones right.... They never get the all the facts, they only get tid bits
-
The first hurdle has finally fell
-
Who caves first? 6 & 11 is more then fair in comparison to the other trades that have gone down or are going down. Would also take 11 & Cerra

Getting my pages and posts confused 400 pages, 10000 posts

My prediction is 4000 replies before the trade gets done....
