  1. Feel for Laurie out (or maybe sub again). It must be frustrating for the next rung down waiting for opportunities when they’re beyond VFL footy. Dunstan and Harmes are shredding VFL at the moment and wasting their time there. The team isn’t overly inspiring on paper and we’re not in good form at the moment either. The Tigers would’ve beat us if they kicked straight. They won the contested ball, had more inside 50s and more shots. We conceded the most inside 50s we’ve done in 4 years. Our whole team defense is a real worry at the moment. Not saying it’s a danger game, but we need to lift. The next three weeks are our percentage boosters. Once this block is done, we’ll have played and beaten up on all bottom 7 teams except Freo.
  2. Our attendance last year was brilliant and we’ve carried on with it again this year. Membership number vs attendance, we’re number 1 in the elegies. Statistically the most loyal fans second year running now if this keeps up. Great effort Dees fans!
  3. I hate Hardwick, but he’s not exactly wrong if he thought that. Tigers kicked 0 goals 5 points in the final quarter. Our accuracy in front of goal, and their inaccuracy in front of goal, was the deciding factor in the match. They generated more inside 50s, more shots at goal and had better pressure than us with more tackles and twice as many tackles inside 50. This was not a strong win by us, so the votes being split amongst players from both teams is fair. We should be thankful we got the win after a poor showing from our players. Our form the last few weeks has been worrying. Still a long way to go in the season and thankfully we have 3 matches against the other bottom four teams now. After this easy patch though, we will have beat up on the bottom six and lost to all top 8 teams we’ve played so far. Let’s hope we can turn our form around come finals time.
  4. Very similar feeling to when Hogan burst onto the scene back in 2015. Would love JVR to kick 40+ like Hogan did back then in his first year. JVR's leap and mark reminded me of Naughton. When he gets a clear run and jump at it, he launches and collects it in front while laying waste to the bodies in his path. Very exciting!
  5. Defense isn't Grundy's strength for sure, but it's no worse than most other rucks. Essendon's rucks did well against him because they overworked him in 2-1. One took a break, the other tagged in. He wasn't able to keep up, and most ruckman wouldn't on their own. Even Max has had games in the past where teams like Port or Saints worked him over and beat him. Grundy's form overall has been fine though. Hardwick acknowledged him as the game changer in the 3rd quarter, so opposition coaches rate his impact. If his form keeps improving, we'll be in for a treat!
  6. The 1JVR 93cm measurement is old. I read he was 195cm now and about 96kg. He certainly plays taller than his height suggests with his leap and strength in the contest, similar to Charlie Curnow who is only 192cm.
  7. Great effort Dees fans. Biggest home and away crowd since 1964 apparently. Our home game attendance rate vs membership number is number 1 in the league again so far this year. We are unquestionably the most loyal fans in the league. Anyone who suggests otherwise can go [censored] the selves.
  8. Still over 10 mins to go. Keep going boys!
  9. Strange game where Ed Langdon comfortably leads our tackle count!?!
  10. Come on boys. Lift the intensity, get the four points and move on from this shamozzle!
  11. Stop flying Kozzie ffs!
  12. Kozzie poor the last fortnight since returning to the team. Gives away such careless free kicks and his effort is way down. When you see Petty sprinting past him to chase you know something’s off.
  13. 100%. Both played centre square with great effect in earlier matches. We trained Kozzie with the mids over summer. Why is he suddenly not being thrown in there anymore where we’re desperate for a spark? He’s not laying tackles inside 50 atm, so try and get him into the game by moving him further up the ground.
  14. Even if we get up and win from here, we’ve got some serious issues on every line now basically. Our midfield contest work needs to be fixed asap. It’s our one wood, so we need to stop losing it there as a starting point!
  15. Our tall forward stocks are in tatters. We have a few promising kids for the future, but for the now while we’re in our premiership window, it’s dire. BBrown body is cooked. Tmac body is cooked. JVR is not ready. Schache is a depth player. Jefferson isn’t ready. Petty isn’t a forward.
  16. Shouldn’t be getting a game when there’s are guys like Dunstan and Harmes wracking up 40 touches in the reserves. Selection panel not rewarding form is so frustrating!
  17. Umpires doing us no favors but we’re playing horribly tonight. This season is looking shaky. Our one wood is our contest work, and we’ve lost that more times than not this year and losing it again tonight.
  18. Kozzie is in [censored] form. Needs to get back to basics with his defensive pressure and crumbing and stop the lazy Hollywood [censored].
  19. Lazy two way running tonight. This season so far has been our worst defensively since first half of 2020. We’re playing seriously average football recently.
  20. Wake up you lazy bastards. You’re getting toweled up by a bottom four team!
  21. Our defense is well down this year. As a whole team we struggle to fill the right spaces like we did in 2021. We also still lack a quality small lockdown defender and I don’t think Mcvee is it.
  22. Laurie officially listed as sub.
  23. Big time. He's our onfield general. Even when he's not in the best form, he's organising the troops and filling space that stifles oppositions ball movement. He usually winds up with a horse voice by the end of the match from barking orders! From a leadership and onfield coaching perspective, he's our most important player. Our next captain IMO. It's a shame he got injured. Hopefully it doesn't impact his form too much, as he was in All Australian form to start the year.
  24. That's definitely the most memorable part of that meatheads career. He's one of those faux tough guys that starts fights against unsuspecting opponents who are vulnerable etc. He's a slug. I don't boo our ex players like Frawley and Rivers. They left in the late stages of their career to try and find some success before their career was over. Can't begrudge that and I'd have done the same in their shoes. I did boo Scully though. That was purely based on him lying to Stynes on his death bed etc. That rubbed me the wrong way. Anyhow back on Freo, it's looking like we'll wind up with pick 6ish IMO. Jefferson, pick 6ish and 24ish for Jackson is a win for us IMO.
