  1. Talking of conspiracies, I'm surprised that no-one has raised that which is most obvious to me: that members of the board have been in touch with Roos for 6 months (according to GNF) laying the groundwork for this Roos-coup and the it has gone off so successfully while other members of the board flailed away and sank. I think it less likely that the board acted in a coherent and effective fashion on this topic. Somewhere, a group of suits has plotted a way out of the Neeld mess, seen off the Stynes legacy board members and shoved the club away from the Hollywood Boulevard influences within and without. If true, (perhaps a big if) this is the biggest successful political maneuver at the MFC to be good since..well, since I've paid attention... All without leaks (except you, GNF). Now THERE"S a conspiracy theory!
  2. I'd be terribly disappointed if/when Craig leaves. I can't help but wonder if the train-crash which unfolded before him is something that he feels responsible for and wants to do something about - and as Senior coach he could. He strikes me as a man of great integrity, who loves competing and winning. This would burn in his guts. A real pity that he's likely to leave us for mine.
  3. I will not dare to dream. I will not dare to dream. I will not dare to dream. I will not dare to dream. I will not dare to dream. I will not dare to dream. I will not dare to dream. I will not dare to dream. I will not dare to dream. DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. You cannot support your argument so you abuse others. Talk about the internet equivalent of 'short steps'. You argument is internally inconsistent - it makes zero sense. If watts and yarran both have the same peoblem and we cannot ifc that with watts we cannot fix it with yarran. Saying that we should be able to it a nonsense within your own logic because THAT IS THE REASON THAT WE ARE TRADING WATTS YOU NONG! You assume the cause of the problems without supporting evidence AND the treatment without supporting evidence. And bob is not my bf. That's RobbieF, just so you know.
  5. bollocks. you said different people = no need for fuss. I mentioned method. not as an emphasis on people. baseless... based on what you wrote. unlike your effort, which was based on what you thought, not what I'd written. don't worry about grading my efforts. just worry about your logic. slippage is embarrassing. and again, it matters if the method does not change. we have changed how we pick players. I'd hate to think that we restrict clear thinking. to kids.
  6. If it is insulting then you get valuable insight into how a bloke is going to cope with being questioned without even needing to interview them. Insulting = threatened. If that is all it takes, then it says a lot. Imagine how he'd cope if a player, coach, or administrator questioned him? I may be reading this wrong but do you really think we should do all the psychometric testing on every single applicant? I kind of understand the desire but I would have thought to someone like Roos that would be a bit of an insult. Every draftee gets psych tested. Why shouldn't they get offended? If it is not a big deal for every kid daft camp, then how come it is for the big boys? Are they that precious? And again, if you want the best people, you use the best methods. Nothing else gets you the data you need.
  7. Try reading. Go on. Try picking my emphasis on method rather than people, or that I was concerned that the same method by different people would lead to the same result. Different people. same method Try reading.
  8. All I hope is that they psych tested the applicants. IQ, EQ, adjustment and drive are not easily assessed on interview. If fact, if the interviewee has ANY social skills, then you cannot assess these factors validly and differentiate between interviewees based on an interview. Job history is going to be much the same. Referees will be much the same. Bet it doesn't happen and we make the same effing mistakes again and again. Trying to get the best people using exactly the same method. The people using it just reckon that THEY are smarter. I understand it but it is profoundly arrogant and insightless. Using the same method but expecting a different outcome was described by someone once...I just can't remember what they said.
  9. Jack, you are a great Demon supporter and now seem to be doing little other than acting as an apologist trying to bolster Jimmy's legacy and through doing so legitimate your own. You run aliases here (up to 5 now?)but bluster about agendas. You make up facts (e.g., ten years of bad decisions) and accuse 'others' of a looseness with the truth. You shift position and deny it. You promised more info about the shadow conspiracy and NONE - not one drop - has emerged. Were you lying? Given the total void of information and your utter lack of follow-through, should I just assume that you made it all up? I have no evidence for any other conclusion. You [censored] about 'distractions' but chased bob to demonology and jumped into a discussion creating an agenda that did not exist before...but blame 'others' for agendas. You act in a hypocritical manner on a consistent basis. It has become pathetic. The game is up, Jack. You lost. We lost. We all lost. Just stop.
  10. Trade. JH & JW. Get a good pick at least from that. Neither are elite talents and they cannot or will not play a footsoldier's role. Therefore = excess to requirements.
  11. I'm looking forward to the majority of Barry P's picks being gone from the club soon. Luke Tapscott looked disinterested most of the game. Actually, the team looked disinterested most of the game. JW floated around having 0 impact. Horrified at how genuinely weak, hesitant and poorly skilled we are. JV threw himself in; Jordie too. They played with urgency at least. So many others just don't.
  12. Fair cop.Petterd is instructed not to kick. Martin is not getting regular games. Rivers has been injured for most of the year. Scully is the 5th best midfielder in GWS and largely ineffective most weeks. Mclean is the 5th best midfielder and is not more than "AFL - level" at his very best. The problem is not these blokes, it is the soft, uncommitted, non-competitive blokes barry prendergast drafted for years.
  13. YUP! Heaps of people said that they supported Tom Scully going for a big contract but somehow watts debating it is a problem...
  14. BINGO - it makes sense that you target the best people and then use the best methods to get the best people. We've got "good blokes" or "footy people" to make gut-based decisions. We've deserved everything we got. WE are the architects of our own demise - and that can work in reverse, too.
  15. So in response, you duck the issue and blame nasher. At least the status quo is being maintained.
  16. Buy a clue, champ. And how's about you stop gumming up threads with your opinion - I get it, you are hopeless and embittered and have no idea what will help the club. No need to dirty up thread after thread with it.
  17. We need to mark Brown's name down and someone - i do not care who - needs to make sure that he is not able to walk off the field next time we play.
  18. You have NFI. As is none. As in, you are on ebay trying to buy someone else's idea but you're in the tennis section looking at used socks instead. We have had Jim Stynes and Gary Lyon making the calls. Prendergast and Bailey. Neeld et al. All footy people. All reckon that THEY know - cause they are used to watching blokes run around and, you know, ran around a bit themselves. Have you ever taken the time to think that this is the approach that has led us to this position - "inner sanctum" types who reckon they know but they actually don't? Because let me guarantee you that this type is the only type we've bothered with and they are bad at their jobs. Their judgement has buried us. Their calls. Their lack of skill, lack of insight, lack of ability, lack of brains, lack of responsibility. The effing gap between ego and ability at our club has been extraordinary. But you reckon that we need more simplistic analysis from blokes who, you know, reckon they know. You, sir, are a clown.
  19. great post, good topic well done! I'll see if I can find the sports psych reference I recently read on this topic - a beaut article with a good reference list to boot.
  20. What? You don't care about the independence of a report into a board that oversaw a shocking decline in performance, a series of debacles and leading the mfc to being a laughing stock of the competition. Seriously? Jim's board has had far too much of the 'soft touch'. This forum is happy to sink the boots into the Gardner board and when given far more reasons and evidence cannot bring themselves to apply the same vitriol to our dear incumbents. I give up.
  21. He is 22 or 23, has played 2-3 years with us, is a very good physical specimen. How'd he respond? Did he give it back to them? Did he impose himself? Did he drive the smarmy little north excrement into the ground? Nope, he became ineffective. Again. Jordie Mckensie is more use to us than Howe. We need a midfield. The biggest issue is how do we get one in the next few years? To do it we need to trade. Our drafting record is disgusting and I have no faith that it will turn around. So, who do you trade? You need to trade blokes who are good enough to be highly valued, preferably in a way that does not cripple your structure and that won't rend the fabric of the playing group. Only two blokes come close to fitting that bill: Watts and Howe. Now, I do not want to trade either. BUT without a midfield we will come last forever. Dawes, Hogan, Clarke will all leave. Anyone good will leave. We must find a midfield and we need to find it now. Or we do it your way - wait for a messiah coach and hope that the playing group - a group you think is pathetic - magically fixes itself.
  22. The penny will drop for most. Adam. It just might take a bit. soon enough, the masses will look back on all the flankers that have won grand finals for their respective teams and realise the central importance of keeping Howe. They'll think about his ball winning ability and defensive efforts and think "wow, good we kept him".
  23. We will lose because we are soft and crap. Sometimes there are many nuances...sometimes there aint. Between bailey and prendergast, well, they totally destroyed our drafting. WE are dead in the water. And, as the saying goes, you are dead for a long time.
  24. Despite the pain, there is hope. I hope that people are ready for things to become worse. Until we have a midfield we will continue to lose. Next year we will be last because every other team will walk past us with their mids. The year after will be the same. And again and again until we get a midfield. I'd consider us 4 years off recovering at best. We are not developing any mids at Casey. We are utterly rooted until we get mids. I'm open for suggestions as to how we get them...but maybe frawley must be a trade consideration?
  25. This is just not true. Anyone could see that the group had its strength drained by Neeld. Explain how we gave in against Port Adelaide but fight games out under Craig? Neeld had two preseasons to straighten attitude out and failed. Craig has had an immediate impact. Neeld did not get to do what he wanted and thank goodness for that. Having vision is one thing: burning the list mentally to the ground to achieve it is something else.
