Alice Springs game
Rod Grinter Riot Squad replied to Rod Grinter Riot Squad's topic in Melbourne Demons
Happily catch up if I can, but again, if you haven’t been up here give yourself some time, if possible do a 3 day tour to Uluru, Kata-Tjuṯa and Kings canyon, if just a spare day, the West MacDonnell ranges are spectacular -
Those coming up for the game, if any, don’t make it a hit and run. Central Australia is amazingly beautiful, you can be busy for a month and not see all the sites. Anyone coming up for the game and want some advice on the area, feel free to ask and will do my best to guide you in the right direction

As far as I know, is why I would prefer him to play 3/4at Casey, as if he feels at all wrong there, he can pull himself out of the game straight away - he won’t do this against the Suns. He is too important to take any risks with and while I know they are professionals, I have seen us make too many mistakes to want to see Jack rushed straight back into the team considering the recent history

The kid is a freak, the example highlighted was just one of a few sublime pick up with immediate handballs, I can’t recall anyone that could do that as well as he since I’ve been following footy closely since the ‘80’s (Williams was awesome, but he didn’t have the speed of hands Clarry has). That said, I thought there was a few times he hand balled when he should have kicked, once he gets the balance right, he will Be one of the top 5players in the league, I can’t wait to watch this kids career

Post Match Discussion - Round 7
Rod Grinter Riot Squad replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Said to my brother last week, maybe the needs to try the Stevie J system -
He had a handball option, which would have led to a slower attack. The kick was the braver option and it was a decent kick.
-
Is this the same unit that bought him back too early last year and cooked him??
-
Thought the kick to Spargo, with three Saints in the vicinity was courageous and the right option, he placed it right meaning the odds were a Spargo mark or free, it was the later and taking the gutsy option led directly to a goal.
-
Another example: ”Jesse Hogan was not penalised for an incident against the Saints that drew attention, when he went down dramatically in the goalsquare after being bumped by Jake Carlisle. Hogan was awarded a free kick at the time” by some pathetic dog from the Age, written after Christian said there was a grab at the throat.
-
Definitely a bit of an overreaction, but after decades of doing nothing and letting all and sundry walk over us, I want a strong and forceful reaction, over the top or not. a strike to the throat, even low impact is extremely dangerous, am not surprised Hogan went back. The headlines “Diving Hogan...” is more over the top and it is defamatory, it is time we fought back and said that we aren’t anyone’s doormats anymore. If we ignore it, then as a club, we are still soft.
-
I am not sold that he dived at all. as a matter of fact, I want the club to come out and slam these spineless sods calling him a diver and would be thrilled to see a case for defamation taken against the weasels at places like news limited who ran with the headline “Diving Hogan....”. It is about time we stopped being soft off the field, we are getting a hard edge on field, need it off field too. If we don’t vigorously defend our players, then as a club, we are still as soft as we have been for the best part of five decades. The admin have a choice here, stand up for our players or undue so much of the good work they seem to have done these last few years.

I love Viney, but think he should play 3/4 of a game at Casey before returning -

Agree ANB gives his all, but he is horribly out of form, really needs to go back to Casey and get his mojo back, as right now he looks bereft of confidence. If fit, I would select Salem over him every day of the week on the respective form they have shown this year. -
In Salem Out ANB Give Viney 3/4 at Casey, love the guy, but reckon he needs a practise run after being out so long

Gus and Clarrie were fantastic. Yes the game wasn’t perfect, but was very concerned with this after two games so close together before so personally I am happy we won the last quarter despite the Saints having few on the bench. need to build on this, win the next two and get structures right so we are full of confidence comes the game against the Crows -
I think it has been good by us, great pressure, looking tired now but not letting up. I was was nervous about today, after having had two games so close together before this one
-
Unbelievable amount of throws ignored by the maggots
-
Tim Watson must have had a better view than both the goal and boundary umpires. [censored]
-
Play in front FFS Hannan
-
Soft free, but silly by Tracc
-
I like them taking a risk, Gus’s kick to Spargo was an example and led to a goal, take the game on and some risks IMO
-
Great and legitimate bit of defending that
-
Both holding, Weid, hands up next time and you get mark or free!
-
More of that Hunt, nice work and Spargo
