Yeah... No-one's mentioned that he's doing that same stretch you see him do just outside the square everytime there's a ruck contest after a goal.
-
Sometimes I think Dunny's been a victim of Daniher's obsession with players like Green and Bruce who are jack of all trades but master of none... He likes a tagger, defender, forward, midfielder the old Neale... I'm hoping Bailey has the guts to just play players in their favoured positions first, THEN let them develop in different directions once they're comfortable.
-
You're going to get at least 20 people claiming that other clubs' rejects aren't worth considering... But I would hope we look at every player delisted and see if there's a good fit. Especially if young. They'd be on base wages, and we'll be widely abused if we don't actually use the selection... And the other thing to think about is that they won't do a Prismall/OKeefe/Warnock and say the club isn't worth coming to. They'll just be glad to be listed by anyone...
-
So the consensus is he'll either be an even WORSE player at MFC than he was at the Crows... OR he'll kick 50 for us... Even if it's the latter he'll probably only be list clogger when the business years roll around.

If they banned porn from the net, there'd be one site left... www.bringbacktheporn.com

Either a 23-yr-old known entity (that just got boned), for a kid that could get better and better. We keep down this path we'll have 44 players on our list that are ALL NQRs...
-
None of those guys will get delisted... They'll pay out Chopper, and I think with the other delistings that'll be just about it.
-
I rate him perhaps a notch or two above that... but only enough to give him a rookie spot again, since we'll have a few going. I saw something in him when he was here last, and thought he'd be retained. HA! Love your work lately dazzler.
-
That's about the size of it. We would be picking a kid, basically the selection after the normal draft... But other than that, I can't think of too many players that excite me less...

Shape up or pay price, warns Melbourne's Dean Bailey

I've always found that arguement a bit faulted. We traded for a draft pick, not for a player. If he's a dud then that reflects badly on the recruitment department, not the committee that traded him... -
A message to Brent Prismall and Robbie Warnock.
Dappa Dan replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
5 years? Yeah... what was that like? That's fascinating how a fan can be proud of how his club tanks for five years to get the draft picks that lifted them off the bottom of the ladder, after cheating in the years before that. It never ceases to amaze me how Blues fans can still be arrogant, despite the fact that the words "cheaters" and "tankers" will be stuck with them for another decade yet. And we all know how the big bucks worked for you in the past. Say hi to Dennis for me. -
He doesn't? Oh. Well, that's hardly a surprise. We seem to be the leper colony of the AFL at the moment... I understand the frustration with the whole "winning culture thing... But this is a delicate time. I'm not saying the age thing automatically rules a player out of contention... But it does seem ridiculous to suggest that we've looked to trade players 27 and up, and then we recruit one who's older. It's like saying we're going for a youth policy, but only when we feel like it... I've been saying for ages that it's a worry that we have only 10 players over 25, and some of them are hardly considered leaders of the AFL... Jamar, Wheatley... My only query with that is that only SOME players can be recruited to a club and be considered leaders automatically. And Cuz isn't one of them, in the strictest sense. Also consider that yes, our on-field fortunes would almost CERTAINLY improve. But to what end? Winning 6-8 games instead of 3? Where does that get us? Back to mediocrity? But then that's a discussion for another thread, as it gets dangerously close to tanking. Ultimately what were talking about is timing. WHEN do you go to recruit mature players, WHAT types... you have to look at a time frame. And I would have thought at the end of 2010 MFC would be the place to be, as we'll have an entire list getting mature by then, and will have more like 15-20 players in their prime. IMO, this lack of maturity is the main reason we had such a bad year. You just can't win games of footy with so many kids in so many sensitive positions.

So hang on... we couldn't possibly end up with NO reserves team of any kind, could we? How would that work? Do we just make a last-minute bid at some poorer club or something? Surely Casey are just hanging on because they know we have nowhere else to go, and there'll be hell to pay if we don't have somewhere to train up these younger kids of ours?

I'm only trying to maintain the integrity of 'land... I'm not arrogant enough to claim I'm important to it. Hence the keyboard heroes comment. I PMed you... continue there with me if you wish.

You mean like when you were banned recently? And everything continued as though nothing had changed? Yeah... disaster. Absolutely. Remove the tool and we'll get back to talking Cuz... For what it's worth: I reckon if we're just going to pass on the PSD pick, then why not consider Cuz? The training aspects alone are enough to give him a sniff. I don't reckon he'll come. It would almost certainly just be another paycheck situation in the way Byron was. And even if he inspired a Jones or Valenti to train as hard as the Crawfords and Harveys of the world, it's only one player, and from our vantage point we'll never get the opportunity to see any REAL change other than the on-field stuff that Cuz makes with the handful of years he has left. Ultimately he won't win us a flag and we won't witness (directly) any influence he has over the playing group. Also, if someone goes bananas, or gets on the [censored] or drugs, Cousins will be the first name brought up, and subsequently blamed. The whole thing leaves me feeling a bit "meh." And when that happens, I say look elsewhere.

Wow. Didn't think you'd take it to THAT place, Y_M. Says a lot about you though... Please stop posting at demonland.

Forum Game..DEMONLAND V TALKING CARLTON, 2nd of NOV
Dappa Dan replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
I have a feeling we'll end up with a team full of FPs.... Last time I volunteered to play a couple of quarters in the pocket I played a half on the wing, then a quarter each at CHF and CHB!!! There'd better be a bench when I rock up. -
Haaaang on... Is this the same Hughes who was a rookie, then a second year rookie, then dropped from the list after sustaining an injury? If so, that's an interesting call. Perhaps a PS pick there for a 21 year old... a la Big Stef. While we're at it, where's Neaves gotten to? Oh... and has anyone seen Van Sheik or whatever his name was?
-
I keep hearing this about Grimesey. We look to the Watts, McLeans and Morton's to be the great saviour, and people en masse seem to think its gonna be probably the most unassuming guy going around... Im pumped to see him play next season.
-
Yeah. Because you're the only thing holding MFC together, right? Stop being a tool. I know, quite literally, NO-ONE who comes here to listen to what you say. At best, you're a diversion, and a pissweak one at that. Did the site crumble and fall when you were banned recently? No. It was a joy to visit in those sickly-sweet few weeks. And hey, if the kids of Brighton doctors bother you so much.... GO AWAY!!!! Jesus. Bloody keyboard heroes that think it's up to them to fix everything.
-
Pretty funny... though about par for the course for Bigfooty. I remember when they'd just won the flag, a whole bunch of WC fans would come on and make polls for "who has the best midfield" "Who has the best young team" etc... just forcing everyone to answer WC because they'd just won the flag. A year later and the club has been all but completely hollowed out, rotting from the inside. I wonder where that other huge bigfooty MFC fan went? What was his name? He was up there with Zeke, and some of the others, but I think he got a lifetime ban. He was VERY much like Y_M, so much so I thought they were the same person.
-
Wow, those numbers are pretty full on. (First post) I'm just stunned Warnock is now among their most highly paid players. If they're paying him for potential, then surely Marc Murphy should be on a lot more, right? He's just a ruckman for Pete's sake. How many ruckmen GENUINELY effect the outcome of the season? Only a handful each year, and even then, they're not winning Brownlows are they? I'd rather use my pick one on a Cooney than a Kreuzer personally, and then pay them reflective of that. Luckily this year we have Watts, so we're not forced to decide...

Cheers Goodvibes... For the record though, I would remind you that up until a few months ago I was one of those posters that used to scruff his hair and say "you little scamp!" as his posts, back then, WERE just a bit of fun. Since then he's taken off on a wholly absurd anti-Bruce campaign that, unlike other supporters' campagns of hatred, has gone well beyond a simple distaste for Cam's qualit of football. It;s gotten him banned (I think twice now) and he's clearly not learned his lesson. Add to that the fact that I've spoken to more than one person (in real life) who don't post, or even visit demonland anymore, and claim that Y_M's omnipresence is the reason. And they're hardly big Bruce fans... I should also say for you to think of my asking Y_M not to post is more of a "signature" I put on the bottom of any reply I make to him, and him alone. I'm not stupid enough to think he'd take heed... Just think of it as my own bit of silliness. You are right, that these forums have to have some freedom of expression, otherwise no-one would ever be able to criticise players. However, Y_M is a poster who abuses that loophole, and demonland is worse off for it. He's also immune to any kind of intervention, as he believes (or at least posts as though he believes) he knows better than everyone what's best for 'land, and the MFC. It's my belief that we can do without him permanently, however I do understand the wider implications of banning someone like that for good, and that's certainly not a road I'd ever want to see this site take. You see unlike him, I leave it to Jaded, RR, Nasher and the others to take control... whatever their decision... Its too important. Especially these days, when we have no identity... demonland is the most a part of MFC I've ever felt, I don't know about everyone else.
-
Really? Stunning me with the proof as always... Never get tired of sticking the knife into 150-game-players who have done more for the club than either of us will ever dream of doing though, don't we Y_M? With every post you make people sick and tired of coming here, thereby actively turning people away from the online community, something that supporters from interstate and overseas ACTUALLY need. THAT'S a fact. Go and follow the filth... or the scum. Please leave us REAL supporters alone. Please stop posting at demonland.

When are you going to do MFC and it's fans a favour and go and support a different club? Please stop posting at demonland.
