  1. McKernan was a big surprise for me. He's not been mentioned a whole lot, but looking at the way he moves, I thought he was a ripper...

Looks like it'll be just another late draft selection then. Yze? White?

:D Love the last line... I don't hate the idea of ROK coming either, but I am almost completely certain he'll wilt and fade at MFC. Without a midfield to give it to him, and a defence to give it to them. He would be non-plussed about coming, cos we're so crap... Bailey would be loathe to give him the time of day due to his 23-and-under policy... It seems, on the surface, to be a bad fit even though he is a good player. The only plus being that he can bring a bit of the Sydney work ethic to the club, which is sorely needed, and perhaps a bit of on field leadership. Remember the last time we recruited a 28yr old? Byron was ok for his first year, but in the end, a waste.
  4. I don't know if I'm "happy" we didn't trade... but its certainly better than trading for the sake of trading, which is what we were looking like doing there for a while. Bailey, and MFC set out with a plan and stuck to it, not getting desperate, or making any knee-jerk reactions. Trades so rarely work in the favour of the team acquiring the player, and in general, teams like the interstate ones don't trade and they seem to do ok. What's more important is the training and development of the list we have (and will draft), which Green can help with being so senior, and now, so respected within his club. Credit where credit is due, Bailey will NOT go for the quick fix.
  5. Did you like the edit? Nice one Nasher... I see you took my advice on masturbation seriously, Y_M... I'm beginning to seriously wonder if you're actually mentally deficient in some way. So is there ANY danger you'll ever actually make a point anytime soon? Or is this still "Yze_Magic.com" sponsored by demonland. God I hope one day soon we can get rid of this child so everyone can get back to enjoying talking about football, instead of self-involved wankers...

Yup. Who are we going to end up with? Can't guarantee we'll get another Stef Martin...
  7. This is the ONLY news to come out of trade week... that and the fact that the club DOES respect Green enough to offer him 3 years, and NOT to trade him for something worthless... But actually Jarka, I'm not sure it's story of the year, our reputation being crappy. In two years time we'll be the flavour of the month (along with GC17) like Hawthorn and Carlton are now. At that time it'll probably be the Roos, or Pies or someone else who'll take their turn at the bottom with a disgraceful reputation, and players will be lining up to play with Watts, Brock et al... Its just a matter of time, and best of all, it's temporary. For a time there Carlton was the place no-one wanted to be (Thornton anyone?)... Look at them now.
  8. I'll say it again, Sexy Legs... On what planet would that have ever happened. At the start of the week all the clubs were saying we'd trade this and that... and look what actually went through? Stuff all... Chris Connolly getting on the radio and saying something was going to happen isn't the same thing as actually having it happen... Once again, Y_M ignores the facts... Is Brad Green a Sydney Swan? No... Go back to your bedroom and get back to what you do best... Playing with yourself, little boy. Come back when you can think of something substantial to write.
  9. So glad we didn't trade for these guys in the end. ANOTHER mid with a bung leg, and a bean-pole that has played about 20 games who's asking price was WAAAY to high... NO ruckman is worth pick 19 or better, unless it's Cox at age 20... and even the he was a rookie and no-one knew how good he was. I'll take my 1, 17, 19 and 35 and go home, thankyou very much. Each one of these picks is worth more to us than either of those guys.
  10. You're a tool. Only two of them are no hopers. Bruce is absolutely a required player, and Bell will be traded in a couple of years when he's worth more (hopefully to GC). Hasn't even reached his prime age yet. On what planet would THAT have ever happened?
  11. Watch a game of football please... Brad Green's trade value was probably a second rounder at best, and if you think his ONLY value is what he brings on the field then you have a lot to learn. We have only half-a-dozen guys over the age of 25 (some of them are only just 25, and one of them is Jamar... YIKES!)... You want to trade Green, and then you'll whinge like a mule when our youngsters don't become the players we all think they could be when they're drafted. I have news for you. The reason they don't scale great heights is because they don't have a Voss, Hird, Buckley type hanging around the club to set an example of how it's done. Trading Green for anything over pick 10 would have been a risk. I think it says more about the general view of how good Prismall actually is. I've spoken to Geelong people who don't reckon he's that good. Is that REALLY what we need? Another one-paced in and under to push Valenti, Jones or Beamer out of their spots? Que? Do you realise how unlikely it is that we'll come last and win less than 4.5 games two years running? I'll admit out list is woeful, but 5 wins is far from beyond them, and they have their pride. In some senses we'd be LUCKY if we could do that badly. Don't think we will though. 6 wins is my prediction, and I'm leaning towards more.
  12. Disappointed that we couldn't pick up another pick in the first 20... But in the end, I'd rather keep Brad that take an unknown at pick 18 or something... And as many mentioned if we traded him and pick 17 for pick 11 or something that would have been a ridiculous waste. Brad is worth far more to the club as a ten year player, leader, educater, example setter that ANOTH draft pick in the teens. We have maybe 4 or 5 good example-setters in the squad who are 25+. Guys like JMac, Bruce, Whelan, Robbo, Davey, Miller... (Don't rate Wheatley, Carroll, or Jamar) and THAT'S IT for the 25+ category. Everyone else is just too young for us to ditch our best-performed (or second-best performed) senior player. It will likely only stunt their growth. Brad may not be the complete footballer, but he knows a thing or two about hard work, training properly, being professional both on the pitch and at the track, and having a cool head under pressure... He may not inspire, but he will set the standard in terms of work ethic along with some of the other guys like Brock, PJ, Bell, Jones who are renowned as hard trainers. It just wasn't the right year to go in for major trades (GC17 is making everyone cagey), and besides, we simply didn't have a J. Hay, or J. Rawings that we knew we'd be better off without, that we could trade for high picks. Just because Green was the closest thing doesn't mean he was the BEST one to trade. Just wasn't our year. I can live with that. Give it a few more years and we'll be BRIMMING with trade options, and GC would have had their fun. For now we have enough on our hands developing the 90% of our list that still is yet to come to fruition.
  13. It's not ridiculous when you compare to other players... even some early recruits are on a fair bit these days. And I suspect it's based on his 2007, which warranted a pay increase. As in he was signed at the end of 2007, where his future looked bright and bankable (someone can confirm this). If he was signed after 2006 on that much, then yes, it seems a bit out of whack.
  14. Holy crap! If that's what he's asking, then no effing way. That would make the morale of the entire club drop even lower. The guy doesn't even want to be there and he'd be on more that kids who show more promise.
  15. They're a hard thing to get going in 2-3 weeks.... But I'll play.
  16. That may be true, but the greater football community certainly don't see it that way... AA gurnseys, and premiership medallions seem to count so much more to the great unwashed... It would be hard to go to Sydney's trade table and argue your point given ROK's decorations...
  17. WTF?!!! Not "keen" on moving to the demons? Why hasn't Matty mentioned something? What, did they have an arguement over a train set or something when they were little? Seriously though, I'd rather stick with PJ, Spencer, even Jamar and maybe look at someone else later on in the draft, or someone in next year's draft than have to give up pick 19 for him. It makes sense to use pick 19 on more of a known quantity, particularly when that known quantity is an enormous ruckman with his first few years under his belt... but they'd better throw in a later pick with it...
  18. Managed to get his mug in the picture for Lloyd's MOY this year... Well hey, at least it was closer to being a worthy contender than his absurd, so-called goal of the year last year.
  19. Yup. I want him to stay, but I want the pick more. As for Wheatley, 30 is an out-and-out bargain.
  20. HA!!! Yep. Other peoples' scraps off their tables. Everyone's salivating over Prismall, and I speak to Cats supporters who say he's one-paced, can't mark overhead, and is yet another extractor with a bung knee!!! I'd rather a shiny new draft pick... No disrespect to Brent.
  21. I like trade week because you get a lot of very silly threads that make you ponder the worth of a player. As long as you understand almost all the talk is just that, talk, then it's really no different from the usual stuff posted. Just a lot more of it... Though, they should limit the week to just three days. Apparently the coaches and much of the recruitment staff don't even turn up to the first 2 days.
  22. Rivers for Thorp, and you want pick as well? Thorp is an exciting KP prospect. Rivers can't get on the park. They lose big time. Also, I think there's a limit to the amount of picks u get in one season...
  23. Once again, this is where being MFC with no money or identity hurts us. Young, good footballers all wanting to be anywhere BUT MFC.
  24. Wow... That's some post. Not sure what to make of any of it. Not surprised at all about the CJ thing and am all for a trade, much as I like him.
  25. I just got back from overseas and needed to watch some highlights as I was starved of footy... The Freo game shows why Bate's important. And Jones has showsn WAY too much to just trade at the age of 21. Both players are years from their prime. We would get more from them when they hit 25. And at that stage our core will be older... If... and it's a pretty big if... they both turn out to be crap, trade them then. Trade them now and they'll hurt us... We can't just keep getting rid of good 21 year olds just cos they're not Selwood or Franklin types. We'll NEVER have a mature side.
