  1. whatwhat say what replied to Romey's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
you said that about us winning a premiership too, hanrahan
  2. all gone very meta with their bigfooty game preview now referencing this thread (hello footscray fans visiting us!) amazed that their supporters aren't banging on about eurodisco as much as the players
  3. i actually don't agree with this narrative - the general consensus is that forcing a club to move will now do more damage than good also, what the afl will want more than anything is to appear to be equanimous in terms of tasmania getting a standalone team the committee for the 19th license have also made it clear that that's their aim; not an existing side moving south i still can't see how the $$s add up to make it financially beneficial for the afl
  4. hmmm, dunno... i don't see how any coach who can get two sides who finished outside the 4 into a grand final, and one won a premiership after traversing the country to play away, can be overrated he seems to be able to get the absolute best out of his group and get them up for the big occasion
  5. mithen bannan (dunno who this 'bannon' is that y'all keep voting for! 😈) paxman heath daisy pearce
  6. all this fuss over a naff bit of eurodisco trash from the 90s...
  7. they've now got it so that, as an afl member, i can log into the 'afl membership' page that ticketmaster manages click on any of the games tho... "try again, something went wrong"
  8. the biggest issue, as i see it, is that a 19th team offers little in terms of increasing the value of broadcast rights which is - along with wagering - the afl's biggest revenue line ideally, need to have a 19th and 20th teams coming in within a year of each other it means, of course, that drafts and the like will be compromised for YEARS, much as they were when gc17 and gw$ were brought in
  9. only a 'medium' chance of showers according to the bom; they've got it listed as 'partly cloudy' and 27
  10. top 2 guaranteed but man we looked super poor after quarter time
  11. so, so far, that's: matt buntine david zaharakis jack lonie sam reid reece conca (potentially) ? how many do we have to list by monday?
  12. that second quarter wasn't great at least half time stops their momentum and gives us a chance to re-group
  13. could be a danger game tbh after the high of last week
  14. that's disputed by many baseball scholars: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4675711
  15. they will never be a real club; they'll always be a franchise they may have success in the future but that doesn't change that they're an invention of head office who are primarily there to increase the tv / streaming rights coverage value and - theoretically - expand the code into northern markets interesting to see that he's actually only signed for an additional two years; the original contract that was reported as mooted was for five more years
  16. that's great news for gc17 hopefully he gets back to full fitness and capability
  17. he got all the clayton votes in 2018 cos clarry talks back too much...and the brownlow, by dint of being decided by those who shall not be questioned, is a pretty invalid way of looking at performance gus was 14th in our b&f in a premiership year he definitely saved his best performance for last tho!
  18. with brendan gale the likely next ceo of the afl, it might be a battle between peggy o'neal and kate roffey as the next chairperson at the afl
  19. grand final isn't in october; makes it impossible!
  20. peptides last win in the finals without sheedy as coach? 1968
  21. if it was one of ours it'd have been 4
  22. Wow that would be massive - let's see how many 'no shows' we have as a result of the likes of mcc members having to prebook with no walk up; I would guess could be quite high I was thinking anywhere around 50-55k on a Wednesday evening would be a great turn out
  23. feeling pretty optimistic currently... Premier: Melbourne Runner-up: Gw$ Wooden spoon: Hawthorn Moving up: Richmond Set to fall: Geelong Brownlow Medal: Clayton Oliver Coleman Medal: Bayley Fritsch NAB AFL Rising Star: Jake Bowey Best new Demon: JVR showing huge promise in the VFL Demon All Australian: Gawn (captain again), Oliver, Petracca, Langdon, Salem, Lever, May Demon B&F: Oliver Big call: Clubs will approve a 19th license for a Tasmanian team in 2027 and then the AFL will kibosh it unless a 20th team comes in at the same time / the year after, as a 19th license adds nothing to the value of rights agreements Ladder prediction: 1. Melbourne 2. Footscray 3. GW$ 4. Richmond 5. Bears 6. Pear 7. Carlton 8. Sydney
  24. not for about a decade 😈
  25. 1. GW$ - they have an incredibly talented list that, arguably, has copped injuries and suspensions at the worst possible times 2. Pear - the likes of Robbie Gray and Travis Boak are running out of runway to claim a premiership, and the former is probably my favourite non-Demon in the AFL
