Zero sympathy for the eagles. An arrogant footy club. An extended period at the bottom might them and their supporters some humility

if you look at their history, this is what they do - compete and be there or thereabouts, win a premiership, hang around competing, bottom out... rinse / repeat

they've only been out of finals for three seasons, and presumably 2024 will be their fourth missing out in a row

It’s too late for Meth Coke and North now. Probably Hawthorn as well, the Map of Tassie will be cleaning up on young talent.
there will be a few Clubs very concerned about the future

when you really don't want to be poor in 2027-2031

they - and the eventual 20th team - will pick the eyes out of the draft

I’d love to try and get Tim Kelly to the club somehow.

Surely he’s sick of losing, even if he is at home.

other than reid, if there's a meth coke player i'd target to come to a third club and finish his career playing in a finals side it's elliot yeo over tim kelly

Feel for Harley Reid. His plight is not dissimilar to that of Jack Watts in terms of expectation. Even more so of course. And I just wonder if playing for a team so bereft of structure and talent will end in unfulfilled potential and bad habits.

    go get him, tim lamb

1990. Was almost unheard of to do that to the Hawks back then. Then we got a week off due to a final being drawn, and subsequently gave WCE their first ever finals victory.

1990 was indeed a year that could have been.

the exceptions that proved the rule

i was sitting high up in the ponsford; the only row behind us filled up and the chap sitting behind us looked through the gaping hole where the southern stand was being built and said "huh...you can see the dandenongs from here"

you couldn't see what was happening deep in the forward pocket underneath us tho

I think Derm rates us, how couldn't he. Derm loathes us though, and it eats him up inside that the Dees are a quality side.

i think derm just recalled beating up on us his entire playing career and, as such, considers us inferior

    an inherent bias

We do have to acknowledge the umpiring, too. Sparrow's fourth quarter goal came after two massive throws from Brown and Fritsch. We got a really good run with 50/50% decisions in the first quarter, too.

But then again, they got a goal early from a mark that was further out of bounds than the Higgins goal last week, and they got a goal from the Rozee flop that should never have been a free.

And they can't blame the umpires for Ratugolea's brain fade.

the maggots had no effect on the result i don't reckon

it was a super game of footy which, in the cold light of a win, i can bask in the glory of watching
